Here's a containment thread for mobile games.

Any recommendations for Android games that have controller support? I've got to go away for a bit and I'm packing extremely light, so all I've got's a phone and my one luxury item is pic related.

Current mobile games I have which aren't shit:

Hoplite - Simple roguelike/puzzle game, shareware monetization model.

Bad North - Stripped down RTS game, fairly cheap, works better on mobile than any other platform and is cheaper on mobile to boot.

Brogue - Android port of the roguelike Brogue, controls are a tad awkward but it seems more or less bug free, download APK from github: https://github.com/bilgincoskun/brogue-android-port/releases/download/v0.11/brogue-175-with-fixes-v0.11.apk

Downwell - Very solid little platformer with randomized levels and some roguelite elements, controls are just a tad awkward, probably better with a controller.

Ridiculous Fishing - Taken down from the store and still not up because Vlambeer can't be bothered making money: https://apkaward.com/ridiculous-fishing

King Tongue - Simple arcade game, feels pretty punchy and smooth, has ads with option to pay a few dollars once to remove them.

Drag'n'Boom - Same developer as King Tongue, also an arcade game though a tad more ambitious with control complexity, same monetization model as KT.

Don't bother trying Ankama's other mobile games as they suck, King Tongue and Drag'n'Boom are pretty good though.

All you'll ever need (though I might be missing a dedicated GBA emulator).

Not really no. They're above the current state of third party garbage controllers, but that's like, getting first place in the special Olympics. General manufacturing quality has taken such a shit in the past 7 or so years it gives an illusion that they're okay.

Oh alright, which controller would you recommend for Snes emulators and stuff? I want it mostly for Super Metroid hacks and shit like that

Specifically on mobile, your choices are gonna be a little restricted, but if we're talking in general, get a ps4 controller.

I've been searching around for which SNES controller for emulators to get. In the end, I bought an actual SNES controller and a USB adapter for, in total, about $6. It feels amazing compared to the cheap controller I had previously.>>16825542

OP here, I've decided just to load up on ROMs, specifically NES, SNES, GBA, Mega Drive, and PCE. Is there a nice looking front-end I can use as a launcher?

>>16825428

I find them to be decent quality, better than most third-party stuff, not quite as good as some first party controllers (definitely better than first-party 360 controllers though, the d-pads on those are unusable).

I have the same controller in OP's pic and I really like it. I also had the FC30 Pro Crissaegrim and it fucking sucked, but the SF30 is miles better. I would rather use a Dualshock 3 but as far as third-party controllers go the SF30 could be a lot worse.

>Android games that have controller support

retroarch, ppsspp and mupen64-next. These three "applications" (also known as executable), nowadays called "app" by the hip new age generation.

Get all the full packs for gameboy/color and what not nintendo consoles like nes and snes, same for sega console, psx, psp, turbografx, atari, …. etc.

How do you all use the gamepads with your phones, like I have seen 2 different styles. I have seen the type of gamepad that plugs into the phone usb and hangs directly below the phone, so it would be like a gamepad with a phone held on top. I have also seen some companies try to make gamepads that pull apart horizontally, so that the phone can be placed in between the left and right side of the phone, kind of exactly like a nintendo switch but way worse quality.

My issue is portability. I want to buy a gamepad that is as small and flat as possible(i would even chose this over hand comfort), so I can easily carry it in my pocket to work. If the gamepad is very bumpy and big to the point that it can barely fit in my jeans pocket then I don't really see the point of it, it's supposed to be played on the go, portable. Any recommendations?

MyBoy, with a pro version that is easily obtainable on the internet, does its job pretty well. I've been enjoying Hamtaro Ham Ham Heartbreak on it.

As long as thumbsticks aren't on your want list you could probably find any number of cheaper bluetooth controllers for pre-PSX emulation pretty easily. 8bitdo makes one called the Zero 2 which is apparently "keychain sized" but it looks uncomfortable and shitty, and there's a Kikestarter going on for something called the ZeroX which is a literal credit card controller, advertised as being small enough to tuck into a card slot in your wallet. I would wager it feels like absolute garbage in your hands but you noted that hand comfort is less important.
