Yes the hatred of 6 is pretty hyperbolic, that still doesn't mean it's a good game. At best it had the most potential at being a better game, because of it's game mechanics. Really it's a mixture of audience expectations, trying to please everyone, and pacing that did the game in. Another note I should add, merc mode does not sell a re game, if it did that standalone merc game and umbrella corps would of been hits.

I think Rev1 is better than 2 in almost every way.
My only problem with Rev1 is the extremely narrow FOV which is hardcoded into the game and can't be properly changed even using hacks in the PC version (there are a couple fov hacks for PC but they have issues, they can cause glitches and CTDs, and the fov is reset to default at every level change).

Now here's something shocking: You're both right. I keep forgetting that RE6 is the main series and in it, yes, it's the worst RE game. But I just refuse to say its shit. I can name a ton of things I liked. Ironically, they listened to fans in many regards, but rule number one: Never listen to fans who complain, they will always complain.
Regarding Zero, I recently played it (3 weeks ago) for the first time. They nerfed the auto, aiming (with awkward results), made item management still clunky even though its the core feature, the leech zombies are annoying bs and hit you in almost any case somehow (even when they die or after they died), and somehow all boss battles were shitty. Like the second Tyrant battle, where it is too narrow to effectively dodge him. In RE1, they at least gave you a middle path to lure the Tyrant around.

There's no friggin reason why an old fart disguises himself as feminine, Final Fantasy looking guy who sings opera. Yes, he's got the Leech Queen inside him, so he's basically trans now, but why did he specifically choose this look? It was only to keep his identity secret to the player, but the only thing distracting us from the fact that he's Marcus (which isn't even important if he weren't), is one sentence said by Billy.

RE6 is great if you play Mercenaries on PC or Switch (gyro motion controls baby) because of the improved framerate and methods of play. I always thought the original console launch was unplayable because of the shitty control scheme and framerate.
Campaigns are just fucking awful. Horribly linear and rushed levels and QTEs galore. Best played with a friend so you can laugh your ass off at how retarded everything is. If there were only two campaigns in the game at launch and a bonus one released in post, it would be a much more refined game. Should have only been Leon/Chris with potential for Ada expansion. Helena should be Sherry imo, especially since she is also a spook like Leon is. No fanfiction son character.

I don't know how they were made, since I skipped through the cutscenes while watching a playthrough, but the game isn't as awesome as I thought. There is that emphasis on action that takes all the scare out of it (kinda like if RE5 had a fixed perspective), and Steve talks like Sonic the Hedgehog. But I've been told its one of the best in the series.
Similar to Nemesis, I never played it, but it looked very linear and "simple", which makes me worry about the remake.

I found RE6s Mercs atrocious on console. I tried to get into it, but it was never as fun as RE5s DLC Mercs.
A guilty pleasure for me was the Invasion mode, but I often encountered what seemed like bot players who were invincible, and didn't even try to finish a level or setpiece.
