Are there any horror games about Grey Aliens?

For some reason they are the only thing that scare me.

How would you make a horror game involving alien abduction?

Area 51, there's a sequence that would have made you shit bricks if you were younger and more impressionable.

An ok to decent shooter, but top tier atmosphere.

Shouldn't be too hard to setup on PC, plus it's abandonware.

This. It's not exactly horror if I get what OP meant - Area 51 is horror in the same sense that FEAR is, it's an horror FPS.But still the best alternative there is and a damn good game.

>How would you make a horror game involving alien abduction?

Divide the game into 3 very different chapters.

>1. Data Collection

You're some dumb fuck in a small town. Maybe you can pick your character for different gameplay bonus\stats, but honestly it doesn't matter.

As the game starts, you're walking around at night, coming home from the bar when an alien saucer abducts you. You get to see them trying a few things on an operating table, but you're quickly let back to the ground.

From this point forward, you have 2 objectives: find out more about the aliens, what do they want and what are their weaknesses as well as registering evidence that they exist.

Every play through will attribute a different objective and a set of weaknesses to them so you actually have to gather different items and test them every night when you see one or on their ship if you're abducted and can free yourself. This information will be critical later.

You will also have a Reputation with the local population. Finding good evidence that aliens are around (body fluids, you left a camera that managed to snap a shot as they took you or even video) will convince people they are real.

Bad evidence and weird requests for items\favors will damage your Reputation and isolate you from the community.

>2. Random Abductions

At this point, you won't be the only one that is being abducted by aliens. Finding out who was taken and learning information from them can help you, good Reputation makes this easier. However, staking out the neighborhood and random houses is likely to make people hate you instead.

Anyone you can convince to join you can assist in the stakeouts or to finding aliens, but you won't stand much of a chance in a direct fight unless you take them by surprise.

>3. Plan in action

The aliens have learned all they needed, most of the town is gone now and they will now proceed to complete their objective. This could be stealing large amounts of a specific resource, perform an experiment on X amount of people, finding a specific human, etc.

If you discovered their objective by cluing information before, it will be easy to try and stop them. If you also figured what weakness they have (allergic to water, weak to diseases, can't see\hear) you'll stand a chance against them.

High Reputation means you start this stage with more followers but since almost everyone else is gone, here you'll actually be directly hunted by them every night.

You have to stop them and possibly board one of their ships to kill their leader if possible.

Notice that you have 3 different types of "horror" here with your actions mirroring the aliens.

First stage is fear of the unknown since you don't know jack shit about what they want and how they work while the aliens themselves are trying to gather information too.

Second stage, where reputation is built and more important than ever, is where you handle your connection with the rest of the town while exploring your enemies, just like the aliens. This is the calm before the storm.

Third stage has both you and the aliens putting your plans in action and now it's a survival situation where you're hunted down and must fight for your life.

Maybe something like Signal Simulator. You're a scientist alone in an observatory or whatever. You perform a bunch of routine tasks but from time to time you might see something looking at you around a corner, or hear strange noises. Then maybe the power cuts and you have to go outside to reset it, and when you're outside the UFO appears and abducts you.

Prey (original) could be considered horror as it's pretty tense until you're used to your situation

as your bar gets abducted by the alien craft, Don't Fear the Reaper comes on the jukebox. This is followed by one hell of an introduction to alien physics and a fair amount of panic moments

The Federation is absolutely xenophobic. It's just that 99.9% of the galaxy is filled with humanoids due to one or more precursor races genetically engineering every life bearing planet to recapitulate their forms to the point that most of the humanoids are genetically and even reproductively compatible. When the Feddies come into contact with genuinely alien species then they're a hair trigger from going full 40k at any moment. Kirk almost called an exterminatus on a human colony because it had been taken over by mind raping space omelettes.

>Are there any horror games about Grey Aliens?

Aliens are more sci-fi which deals with the unkown yet possible and will always be more mystery than horror which is more supernatural and evil. However, having aliens stalking you like Freddy or Jason could be slasher horror, and I think maybe the Alien game might be like that.

The only way a Grey would scare me is if they weren't openly hostile, but inquisitive. They're space-faring for heaven's sake, why wouldn't they be intelligent enough to not be found, or if they are found, easily escape and resume watching us? Take vid related for instance. This is more of what I'd like to see when it comes to Greys.

Some nice ideas here, but turning the aliens into cannon fodder undermines the horror.

>How would you make a horror game involving alien abduction?

Make it a dialogue and investigation based adventure game with resource management, survival, 'combat' and stealth elements. It would be an open world. To make the game feasible, it would have to be contained to one or few small towns.

Player character would be someone investigating claims of UFO sightings and abductions. To do so you would review documents, police reports of disappearances, and most importantly investigate different locations and interview people.

>Character creation

You would have different backgrounds to choose from each with their benefits and drawbacks. If you went with FBI agent, you would have some extra money, authority, documents, consultants, and could demand local law enforcement to cooperate. Many locals however could be difficult to win over. On the opposite end could be playing as a curious local from few towns over. Townsfolk would be more trusting, you would have your dog to rely on, but be deprived of many resources law enforcement has access to.

Besides background, you would have an option to select training, equipment, and fitness based on pool of months and money. You would start with 18 years of age, high-school education, and pool of money would be the difficulty level. Selecting bachelor's degree in forensics would age the character by adding four years to the age pool, and deduct from money pool to pay for college. You could trade months for money and professional experience, sacrifice money and time to raise your physical fitness levels, on additional training, etc. Of course, extra years would make character look older, making the character less attractive, and thus making it tougher to win people over. Pick too much and your character will be broke or too old to be able to do anything effectively.

Money would be used for your mode of transport, room, board, and starting equipment.

>Investigations

You would analyze objects and locations. You could purchase equipment like cameras, motion sensors, fingerprint kit, metal detectors, and pay for consultants to help your investigation efforts. Some sites of interest would be difficult to access, forcing you to get permission or break in. You could also collect dirt on people to blackmail them.

>interviews

You would have to make sure that interviewee trusts you, likes you, thinks that you are credible, intimidating, or have authority to demand information. You would not gain trust by doing shitty side-quests, but instead based on your appearance, credibility, tone, reputation in town, dialogue options chosen, and background.

Dialogue system would be your generic dialogue tree, but you could toggle between different tones, and actions. Available responses would depend on your character’s background, information gathered, and so on.

>Gameplay

Objective would be to either gather an undeniable proof that abductions are real, to debunk them, or discover that they are perhaps a cover-up for something else.

You would need to be wise with your time. Nights are when abductions supposedly happen, but days are when you can talk to people. Of course, you could just hide tons of night vision cameras if you have money for that. Not sleeping enough could lead to decrease in fitness, hallucinations, and fainting episodes. Abductions would be rare, UFO sightings a little bit less so. If you draw too much attention, men in black would pay you a visit and begin to interfere with investigation, forcing you to keep lower profile. If you get caught breaking the law, police will be searching for you, and so on. You would mainly get to see aliens from far away and get a bit of a close-up view using binoculars. If you are seeing aliens up-close that means you are getting abducted or hallucinating. After your possible abduction, you can visit a doctor, conduct investigation, and look for witnesses to verify if you were really abducted. Only combat would be with people unhappy you are on their property, odd wild animal here and there, local thugs and drunks, or possibly the law enforcement.
