This is the first stab at a fake retro console that looks in any way appealing. Old Intellivision games have a weird resemblance to modern indieshit pixel games (blocky, few colors, yet incongruously good animation at times), and OP's embed looks like a way more aesthetic update of that look than your run-of-the-mill steamtrash imo. I'm a sucker for Tempest 3K, Space Invaders Extreme, Nex Machina, that kind of thing.

Unlike Ouya, which was a half-assed Android phone in a box, I find this to be interesting. I hope that Amico eventually supports traditional USB gamepads. Isn't Amico digital only?

Has there been a person actually holding and playing the hardware in actual video. All I have seen are people holding the model for the device and pre-recorded gameplay. I'm saying its a scam device until I see genuine video of it playing.

A lot of peole seem to not understand why the Ouya failed. It wasn't because there's no market for small, niche consoles. It was that they seriously believed they could go toe to toe with Nintendo, Sony and the Xbox. They invested into production accordingly then were surprised when only a scant few actualy bought their shit. The people who kickstarted them were the only ones interested, unlike their projections of that only being an initial small wave of brave people. Well that, and they paid themselves like the CEOs of big console producers.

Things like the C64mini are more akin to this. Aimed at a small group of fans of old shit, giving them he experience they want, and maybe picking up a few new people along the way.

This new console is a mix of old and new, but definitely leans far more towards the old. Its the equivalent of a modern throwback.
