I would blame MvC completely on Marvel due to them being owned by Disney which is owned by a Jew now. It's obvious Capcom went into a shitty deal on that. The expression "throwing good money after bad" comes to mind. I don't think they could have possibly had it be a decent game because it was a poorly conceived idea to begin with. Take UMvC3's roster, remove any interesting characters and some that should be givens (the X-Men, Doom, etc.) with the obvious intention of parceling them off as DLC, make it 2v2 with a retarded rock gimmick, give it no stylistic flair, emphasize the "story" in which nothing interesting happens, and add new characters who only serve to patch in "functions" that are lost by removing existing characters. Things in this equation could have been improved with a bigger budget, but it's hard to conceive of how they could do that and make the game actually worthwhile on its own merits. Best case scenario is a 2v2 rehash of UMVC3 that lacks anything to draw an audience in (unless they really prefer a less stylized game).

Even then, Capcom had the problem that they fucked over consumers of vanilla MVC3 by pretending they were going to support the game via DLC only to do a rerelease within the same year that launched. There's a reason why UMVC3 sold terribly upon launch and the consumers that actually bought the game (and didn't just watch it on streams) were going to feel wary no matter what Capcom did. With how shitty their fighting game team is, I think Capcom made the right move by not putting more resources into it, they could not possibly expect a good return on investment with the concept of the game. Licensing an overvalued IP from a bunch of kikes didn't help matters. The only reason why the C-list marvel shit does well is because it's a carefully calculated formula that has enough flashing effects to placate low-IQ brown hordes every few months in two-hour increments. You can't do that with a budget video game or even with a AAA budget video game. You need more.

Nevermind the netcode. Many fight that fault. Nevermind the dumb colour and costume purchases. That trash is getting tagged on to everything children have access to. NEVERMIND THE CHARACTER LIST. Its not like we'll ever see these newcomers again.

Let me just introduce some talking points

First, lets talk about how they rounded out the edges to fit in their new concept of design. When people where first introduced to SFV they noticed their returning characters where missing things. The most notable was Zangief's greenhand. Vega's claw was no longer its own hurtbox, Chun Lee was a bit less fancy in the air, and Karin had become Makoto in terms of gameplan.

Theres tons of these little changes throughout the rest of the dlc characters as well, arbitrary fireball distances, a lack of frame advantage. But one some thing stands above it all, a testament not only to the idoicy of the game but the lazyness of the creators.

Air special moves cannot be done while jumping backwards, not escape tatsus, no retreat hadoukens. The game is "nuetral heavy" which is something that was misinterpreted to mean that the gameplay is so simplified and controlled that making sure that everyone stays in the same state of play as much as possible. We all know theirs a low-overhead mixup inherent to the game, and once you know your frame advantages and your chances to throws those out, boom you're in Gold. I teach a lot of people to play fighting games, I get them out of single player casual play, especially since they've added certain characters to smash. Some of the people I've taught managed to get the same rank as me with nothing more than the simple explanation of rock paper scissors. And then they got bored as all hell, since even though they worked out the way to more optimal play, it didn't feel like an advancement in gameplay. That shit doesn't fly in 4, you meet a Zangief whose spents months just facing his brother's Ibuki in their basement and the guy's got an eagle eye for jumps, does crazy shit like backwards air HP in the perfect scenarios. You fight another thats been going through nothing but shotos and he never wins a match without takeing a 3rd of his life in chip or running the timer. The diversity in matchup gameplay still exists, so most people giving things a passing glance don't notice, but the games been made to feel like a rehearsed battle every round.

Part of that rehearsal, and how that game is controlled to play out only how the devs want it, is really blatantly obvious when you look at it. Without meter an opponent must make at minimum 4 mistakes to be defeated in a round. If you are streamrolling someone whos never played the game before, with any character, you need to do 2 sets of damage, one to stun, and one more after that. The game's combo damage is made make sure the opponent has one last comback chance after getting stunned. With things so orginized theres no chance of expressing personality.

Look Capcom has always been the guys who cracked the code but never really understood what that ment. Ryu breaks down 1 for 1 into the possibility of a chess game. Your King is your positioning, your pawns are your normals(both have 2 ranges) Hadouken is a Rook, Tatsu is your Bishop, and the strongest piece in both is Shoryu Knight. Each other character is a variation on those values, Dhalsim diverts his strength to his pawns, Bison forgoes a knight for an incredible bishop ect.

Street fighter 5 has Abigail. Abigail beefs through a move, uses big range, or wins a trade with damage and high life total. His opponents takes advantage of his minuse frames. My only explanation as to why they would ever make a character like that is to actively testing thier audience's will to rebell knowing full well a season pass has already been bought.

Oh and if you didn't manage to piece it together yourself, special meter and supers are the Queen.

Yeah, this is because they gave them new moves. Chun can do instant air kicks, Zangief can do SPDs in the air and has a flexing move with infinite armor, and so on. All of this is by design. The only reason you're whining about it s because it's too different from what you know.

Not seeing the negative. Air hadokens are already cancer enough without the ability to let the user cover a bad jump back. Also air fireballs can be used as combo starters. Again you're just complaining that the game doesn't reward turtling, and basically all of your complaints just amount to "it doesn't play like SF4".

SF4 is the most cancerous and worthless pile of shit in the whole series so anything that isn't borrowed from that game is necessarily a good thing.

I don't see how you can make this complaint and then still defend SF4, you have to be either a complete retard or baiting at this point to not see the irony.

There is no "diversity in matchup gameplay" in SF4. Every single fight in that game was 100% matchup knowledge and just knowing what to do in the matchup with zero room for improvisation or creativity, and I know because I was an A-rank Zangief through most versions of SF4. The game is easily a thousand fold more homogenous than SFV could ever dream of being. Watching a B rank Akuma in SF4 is the same as watching a Master Akuma in SF4, every matchup starts with a jump back air hadoken, cr.MP into hadoken, wall of hadokens ad infinitum. You do have rare occasions where they go for the one frame link but that doesn't really change anything about the matchup. Every matchup plays the same way regardless of skill level in 4, and you only lose if you deviate in any way from the exact gameplan you're supposed to follow in any given matchup.

Whether you're C rank Zangief or A+ rank Zangief, your strategy against Dhalsim is exactly the same, clip his limbs with lariat and vortex the shit out of him.

I can explain this matter a bit further. Cygames is currently working on another Granblue game called Re;Link which has had a bunch of production problems. One of those problems is a complete story rewrite. As the name implies, the story was originally about the MC and Lyria (blue haired girl with Gran) losing their linked soul and MC being out of commission as a consequence. Katalina would've been the protagonist for the storymode. It's very likely that Versus would've had some sort of story tie-in with Re;Link which would explain the non-playable MC.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't an excuse for their initial decision, just an explanation. Gran, Djeeta and Lyria are the faces of the franchise and excluding them from both games would've been a stupid decision. Luckily, I believe they realised this as well.

Just a personal note but I'm not a fan of them making normal Djeeta a character in Versus. In other GBF media, she's sometimes depicted using classes and weapons that an end-game player in the gacha game might use. This works as a good contrast to Gran's generic look and style. That representation is also far more fun and leaves more room for creative skillsets. Normal Djeeta is probably going to be another shoto which just rubs salt in the wound.

I'm pretty disappointed in Versus as well. Since it's a modern fighting game backed by a Gacha company, I was fully expecting some greedy practices to rear their head but I wasn't expecting it to this extent. I think it also stings a bit more since the animators, VAs, etc. clearly like the source material but their love and effort is marred by shit business decisions.
