What's with all the delays? Jesus Christ, are people THAT afraid of the Half Life VR game that they're delaying all their games to the holiday season? Seems so stupid.

They're pushing off to next gen, dumbass. Rumor was, a lot of studios didn't even have XBSeX dev kits until just last month. A lot of others aren't willing to make the premier version of their new game's debut throttled to run on 2013 laptop hardware, and are pushing back their release dates to prepare "next-gen" versions. At the very least, Microsoft is pushing for a more blurred console generation line - so developers are being encouraged to just make one release of their games that's full featured for next gen systems which can scale down to be ran on current gen hardware. Not sure if Sony is going to follow suit, but devs still have to prepare both PS4/Pro and PS5 versions.

How pozzed is this studio? I played the first game some time ago and I thought it was good enough for me to consider giving them money.

Ah well, hope they actually use the time well, since I'm kinda looking forward to the game. If they've fucking delayed it, and the game somehow releases without the upgraded dropkick from Dying Light 1, I swear to fucking Christ, I'll nuke Poland or wherever the fuck Techland keeps it's main supply of codemonkey vodkaniggers.

I liked the Dead Island games, 1 & 2 mainly because of the exploration aspect among other positives. Question then: would I like Dying Light 1 if I only enjoy singleplayer? I should add that I've no taste in assistance or shared social experiences that stave away one's awareness of mortality and I view parkour as a Marxist invention to get white people to jump to their deaths willingly.

Yeah no problem, everything can be done solo and if you pirate you don't even need to connect to their game servers.

>I view parkour as a Marxist invention to get white people to jump to their deaths willingly.

Fuck you! I bet you dislike Prince of Persia or any other platformer, because it "makes people jump off their deaths" like Mario. I bet you hate grappling hooks as well. It's people like you, the reason why so few games allow you to wallrun.

Just finished the first one not too long ago. Don't know what they could do to freshen up the sequel from the original. Had my fill of parkour and frankly it would be boring to me if Dying Light 2 was just the same as 1. Thinking about it, I might enjoy a more packed city with skyscrapers that can be entirely climbed/explored. But that would most likely be asking for too much. Might try it, especially since I enjoyed the LAN co-op and heard this one will have it as well.

The real question is why are they incapable of shipping anything on a planned timescale or with any semblance of planing, it's depressing that games coming out at an actual specified date is some sort of nostalgic idea.

> it's depressing that games coming out at an actual specified date is some sort of nostalgic idea.

What are you talking about? Games used to be delayed all the time. If anything, release dates are more stable overall these days because devs have figured out that they can save a few bucks by axing their entire QA/PlayTesting departments and just ship bug riddled messes of spaghetti code to be cleaned up later on with a patch. Fuck, they don't even have to finish the games so long as they hide behind the "Early Access" label.

It's not like it used to be where if you shipped a buggy product, it was fucked forever because you had no reliable way to distribute patches to customers. Are people really complaining about games being delayed these days? Though I guess it's somewhat justifiable considering that extra time isn't going to bug fixing, polishing, or adding extra content. It's going to distance the games from other releases and prep next gen versions so that they can soak up a few extra sales from riding the next-gen hype wave.

Damn was looking forward to this one too.

Ah well, from the two videos we've been presented with when it came to the game's story and progression, I can only hope more is being added onto the idea.

Or if they're just refining the world/gameplay that's fine too.

AFAIK, not very. They pushed energy drinks' shit in by saying just drink water during that drink for XP controversy. The content of their games doesn't have any obvious SJW narratives from I what I can tell (just really bad writing).

The only thing I'm worried about in the 2nd game is that not only does the hookshot make a return but it seems available early. They had hookshots just as a balance for PVP but I think the game pretty much gets ruined when you have it. 90% of the fun parkour and challenge is gone.

Any examples of writing to judge from? I read somewhere that Avellone was involved in writing, so we might be getting something that makes a lick of sense at the very least.

I know nu-Avellone is not the same as Avellone responsible for KOTOR2 and Fallouts, but still, he's not an idiot.

> the game pretty much gets ruined when you have it.

Oh come now, the hookshot was well implemented IMO.

It can be used one with a decent cooldown or twice in a quick succession, giving it a much longer cooldown.

It doesn't do ALL the parkour for you, especially if you're running away from something, but it let's you skip some bullshit and fix a few mistakes every now and then. Overuse it however and you're in a situation with no recourse to escape from.

Besides, by the time you unlock it, you'll be mostly finishing the first area and that's the point where parkour isn't much of a challenge anymore, just something you do for fun and therefore you won't replace it with the hook willingly unless you want to skip something that you don't think is particularly fun.

The only bullshit part of the hook is how you can jump down a skyscrapper and when you're almost hitting the ground, just hook anything nearby (including the ground itself IIRC) and you won't die or take any fall damage.

But there's plenty of trash bags around to cushion falls anyway so it's not that important.

>The content of their games doesn't have any obvious SJW narratives

You know very well that /v/ could easily deconstruct this with Jade being the "strong girl" and the BBEG being a crazy white male. But then again, Jade does die at his hands and the fact you kill the BBEG with a QTE is far more bullshit than that.

And random loot which ties in with the weapon variety which is piss poor.

They started off as FPS developers and actually good ones, but somehow the handling of the shooting is piss poor which is inexcusable considering who they are and every complaint about it in Dead Island.

Shit, I'd argue the shooting in Dead Island is actually better, there are actual animations and recoil.

Why? Clearing up a dozen zombies to pick up some trash for crafting to then silently dispatch the infected isn't a bad trade at all.

Plus it's nearly needed to kill bosses

My main issue with all the mainstream Survival/RPG elements in games is honestly the complete lack of inventory management and the complete lack of ingame items.

These faggots think an RPG is just numbers and progression systems.
