>A fictional Californian city that’s a parody San Francisco

>cities portrayed as a crime infected hellhole because of liberal policies and turning a blind eye to crime

>showed Liberal Drug polices and gun control in a negative light

>city was forced to legalized mask vigilantism, dead or alive bounties and kill on sight gang policy to restore order from anarchy

Is it just me or biggest wasted potential of APB reloaded was having an interesting setting yet doing nothing with it?

Army Rage. It was fun as fuck, especially the vehicle maps. However the company got wrecked by a lawsuit. Apparently >90% of all game assets were stolen from Day of Defeat, BF 1942 and, mostly Forgotten Hope 1&2

APB fucking reloaded

>headshots, or different damage multipliers aren't a thing in that game, so you can't actually outplay someone who gets the drop on you

>mission design is attackers vs defenders 80% of the time, giving one team a massive advantage if they can get to the objective first and set up around it

>but objectives go so fast, that if the defending team somehow manages to make a single mistake, the attackers get the objective right then and there

>at times, there are objectives that just require you to drive a car into a circle, or just touch a thing on the floor for less than a split second

>the other 20% of the time, it's a type of objective where both teams need to take an objective and bring it back to their base, or hold it on them

>for the latter, if you grab the objective first, you can just throw it into certain places on the map that make the objective nearly impossible to reach for the other team

>cars are invincible boxes, seeing as you can't shoot people through windows or shoot out tires, you can only blow up the car

>but the best car in the game is incredibly tanky, able to survive a single rocket without instantly exploding, has the best acceleration in the game, second or third best top speed in the game, and you can use it's utterly fucked physics with nitro to wheelie and shoot yourself across small buildings, enemies in cover, etc.

>at level 195 you unlock a perk that lets you stand on the roof of a car and shoot your primary weapon

>the combination of these devolves the entire game into either camping as defenders to get the first shot off, or packing the objectives into your cancermobile and running away from the other players, who can't touch you unless they're using the exact same car

>but if you don't have the car surfer perk too, the guy on top of their car just blows you the fuck away, because he has his primary weapon while you're shooting a pistol

>there's around sixty different guns

>five of them are actually viable

>the good-at-everything AK, the SMG that's just better than the other SMGs, the completely retarded sniper rifle which leaves you at 15% health if it clips any part of you, the sniper rifle that does less damage but you can run fast with it, and the cash shop shotgun that's just more reliable than the free player shotgun

>everyone makes short female characters in neutral-colored clothing, while everyone has the same hitboxes, if you're a short woman, you can crouch behind certain walls, cars or objects, and your fat head won't poke out over the top while an average sized male character's would, making it much easier to hide

Sick 3rd person robot action game with shooting, melees, and finishers. I got in at the time when items were too high for any newbie to grind and it would die a few years later but I look back on it fondly wishing I could play more of it.

>>16815103

Had a lot of fun with that game too.

Honestly fuck every FTPMMO. If they really cared about the community they would have setup a way to have dedicated servers so that we could play forever instead of fucking falling on their sword and going "Nope! Dead forever". Its that level of greed/attention/publcity from companies whenever they announce "with sad, sad news" that they MUST kill the game instead of preserve it makes it even more detestable to me. It makes me mad I invested time into FTPMMOs in the first place seeing how the entire vidya industry was going to take advantage of young suckers like me with blatant gambling and necessary monetized upgrades. I would have never gave them my time and money if I could see how shit would be playing out today.

Legacy of Kain Dead Sun, a game that never fucking came out was supposed to have a multiplayer component. Dead Sun got scrapped because Square are a bunch of homos, but the multiplayer component was somewhat more finished, and it was decided that it was going to be it's own spinoff game. Nosgoth releases into early access, and isn't really that bad. It's buggy and imbalanced, but it's obvious that the devs care about the game at least somewhat. Consistently gets improved by patches, but the playerbase isn't really growing, because Square is not marketing the game at all. Due to the declining player numbers, profits start declining, so square decides that they want lootboxes in the game. This kills the last bit of the community. Around the same time, Psyonix, the developers put out a little game called Rocket League, which did massively better than Nosgoth, so they stopped really giving a fuck. Game coasts for another six months and is then killed before ever leaving early access.

Dawngate

Born during the MOBA/ARTS/Assfaggots whatever boom from a studio working under EA. So, doomed to fail, but…

-Cooldown based resource system at its core. Some characters had additional resources to manage. Lots of skirmishing from the beginning.

-Role system which generates income for you based on your preferred method of play. Riot would later steal this concept and fold it into their later masteries.

-Generic abilities (item-like effects/Summoner Spells) you unlock and choose over the course of the game. Can respec these. Still free the first time you get them and with ungodly cooldowns, but whatevs.

-Economy nodes to capture, sabotage, protect, etc. Affected team's passive income.

-Regenerating towers if you can defend long enough. Only two deep per lane. Map itself was overall smaller.

-Bossfight for the base. Did different attacks that you had to avoid or disable outright by breaking secondary nodes.

It had charm, but was axed because EA. The team would go on to make a Hearthstone style card game with a hex map and that was okay, but not really anything special.

It wasn't really that popular, since it was around 2011-2013, and during that period most people were sick of WWII games. They were niggers for stealing assets and making money out of it but damn, it was still fun. You could deploy machineguns, use .88 FLAK guns, shitload of tanks, including russian tank destroyers and british medium tanks, give others ammo/HP and bombard areas with artillery. It was basically a gook version of Battlefield 1942, with a mix of crossfire, maybe.

Wasn't there a big actor strike around that time that prevented Uber from getting ahold of Rodney Sherwood again? I remember that being a big deal.

And the game being slowed down a ton compared to MNC, plus some weirdly insistent design choices like ringouts still being a thing in a game with high(er than MNC) survivability and 20+ second respawn timers.

I liked the game, it just never had the polish or appeal of MNC to me.

>depends too much on microtransactions?

Not really. Because of the game's power score system it's more 'pay around the grind'. An example being a player with a car build of 1200ps isn't going to fight a guy a with an 8000ps build. Though I will say that if you're going the free to play route you're going to be doing a shiton of grinding and learning the in-game market and economy, which can be fun in itself.

>How good or bad for a free game is it?

It's been awhile since I'd played it, but I had a lot of fun with it. When you're first starting out you'll come across a lot of guys abusing the current meta, but after awhile of grinding and leveling up you'll hit a sweet spot in the power score system and really start getting into it.

Plus just making dumb builds and dicking around is always fun.

Have you heard the tragedy of Spiral Knights? It's not a story Sega will tell you.

>Have a good co-op PvE game with a wonderful cutesy artstyle, excellent music and tight gameplay

>Lots of gameplay options, you can be a mostly crowd control focused bomber, a damage dealing gunner or a middle of the road melee dude, or some combination of the three, each of the three having variations to their weaponry(melee has regular sword, heavy swords and rapiers, gunners can play around with richochet guns, spray and pray type pepperguns, heavy cannons, and bombers can have damage over time bombs or powerful go boom type bombs)

>Gameplay was heavily focused around good positioning and use of your charge attacks, since melees and bombers could toss around enemies a poor timed charge attack could knock an attacking enemy right into a teammate and have them eat the attack, and knowing when to dodge(with your movement, Ys style) and when to shield(shielding meant you moved slower, couldn't attack and shields had different health levels and once the shield depletes you eat a hit and get knocked down

>You start a dungeon run, each level(sans the special ones) can have variables like elements, maps(one can be a gimmick spooky themed level where you have to fight reviving enemies and keep candles alight or else you get swarmed by invulnerable ghosts, another would be a hazard focused level, another would be purely combat in an arena where continuing forward has more rewards at more risk

>Playing with teammates was fun and actually rewarded, it means more enemies, more rewards and even has special co-op only areas and puzzles(I think, I might be remembering this wrong)

>It was also very well done, with teammates being able to revive you with half their health, teammates grabbing things means it's cloned and shared across the entire party, more engaging fights and more playstyle synergy

>At the end of every 10 levels(tier) you get a special three level boss stage with its own theme, enemies, music, gimmicks and a boss fight at the end(There were four bosses, one for tier 1, two for tier 2 that alternate and a really cool one for tier 3)

>People pretty much only knew of it because of the TF2 hat event(or at least I knew of it that way)

<It had a facebook game styled energy system where every level took 10 energy, you started off with 100 steam energy that slowly regenerates over the day and crystal energy that you could buy

>Crystal energy could be bought with ingame currency, and was influenced by the ingame economy

>Prices were usually around the level of tier 1 being able to break even(if you're buying crystal energy and using it to play) and the other two tiers making a decent enough profit

>Energy is also a resource used for upgrading weapons and armor to the next tier(there were I think five or six item tiers), and it was reasonable and not too grindy

>at the end of tier 3 you get a secret hub where it teases more content, the core of the planet has a busted elevator that comes with a "coming soon" message

>Game was wonderful, but needed more content

>So clearly they spend the next couple of years doing nothing but the same seasonal special levels

>2013

>They decide to nuke the energy system

>You can play indefinitely

>But no energy means something has to be done about the upgrade system

>Decide to fuck up the tier upgrading system, the heat system(ingame you get something called Heat in addition to gold, Heat basically upgrades your weapon as a way of progression in between getting materials and energy to upgrade to the next tier) and co-op in general

>Heat and Upgrades: Now require heat orbs and upgrade orbs, respectively. These are now components needed for upgrading your item. Neat, right?

>Except upgrade orbs were so incredibly fucking rare(I only got one in two weeks of grinding) and they have tiers(I got a tier 3 one with tier 4 equipment) so fuck you if you didn't get the one you wanted

>and heat orbs meant you barely get to progress your item before upgrading to the next tier since heat collection got nuked

>Co-op mechanics: coins, heat and materials are no longer cloned and sent to every party member upon collection

>Every party member gets the same coin, material and heat drops, but they have to collect it individually for some reason meaning levels take longer since you can't split up to collect loot

>Oh yeah I forgot, the reviving system got shat on and now you get to revive with full(or maybe half, my memory is fuzzy on this) health with SPARKS OF LIFE, an item you can buy and are rewarded with an insane amount of frequency(it was not unlikely for you to go for Firestorm citadel, the normally difficult tier 3 endgame with like 30 sparks per member so you just tank the fucking thing like it's nothing)

>Spend some more time doing nothing but releasing the same seasonal events and levels

>oh fuck, new update

>Lockdown! A… PvP, P2W(since if you grinded enough energy you could buy trinkets that gave you some bonuses, and these trinkets do not count towards your gear score) shitfest.

>Since SK is mostly a PvE game, the netcode wasn't something you notice.

>Except in lockdown where people are teleporting behind you and have insane weapon ranges like it's the manga Solo Leveling

>At some point they have an update that adds pets, pets can heal you, shield you or deal damage or give you buffs. Three pets, three playstyles, cool.

>Except leveling up these pets requires feeding them elemental crystals, each pet gets a specific elemental crystal

>These crystals could be sold in the level select to randomize the levels in the next day's dungeon rotations. Fire crystals means more fire levels, etc.

>Meaning now Fire, Dark and I forgot what else type levels were impossible to come across, poison only levels for you, fucker

>The update also adds a shield bash and a dedicated dodge button, making positioning pointless and knockback crowd control even more so

>I should mention Tier 4 is still not around, no new items besides really overpriced cosmetics and enemies and levels have not gotten a buff

>the dlc also adds a new class of melee weapon, rocket hammers

>Ridiculously shit for PvE, ridiculously OP for PvP

>still no Tier 4

>At another point in time they add in silver keys, ridiculously overpriced(I think they were around 7k crystal energy, which nearly tripled its price after steam energy got nuked. I should also add the gold gains in tiers also got nuked after that update)

>They let you access special, difficult 3 level sets

>they're just recolored boss level sets(Jelly King is now poisonous, Firestorm is now Dark instead of fire, etc.). No new music, enemies or gimmicks and the new gear is just recolored and slightly more powerrful

>But they all share the same fourth level where it's just an escape from an instant kill death wall(if you're curious embed related is the music that plays during it, it's pretty neat but the somber part the end really speaks for the entire development of the game)

>I quit at this point, and a few years later Sega sells the game to the ex devs of the game, now called Grey Haven or something

>They also do jack shit but release the same few seasonal events as before

>no tier 4

>no new gear

>nothing

Not strictly dead as people still play it but it effectively is in a death spiral.

>non-existent balance

Since the game left open beta it was downhill in almost every aspect. Balance changes were made at random seemingly based on nothing. Long term balance issues were not addressed and if anything were made worse. If fact the latest patch made 2/3 of the rooster useless as support, tank and damage champions have too little HP and DPS to compete with flanks.

>bugs, bugs everywhere

Its buggy as fuck, like people genuinely are getting 30 minute bans for their game crashing at start up buggy. Changing texture and particle/effect level of detail doesn't work as the game can only really display highest setting or lowest, anything in between gives you flickering textures or textures alternating between low and high settings, same deal with geometry.

>events that require you to spend in excess of 200$ to unlock a skin

I am not shitting you. A event in this game is one shitty map with some atrocious quirk(like platforming or "football") that the engine can barely handle and an exclusive skin. Exclusive in the sense that you need to buy all the other skins for around 30$ each so you can unlock the final one. This is on top of two tiers of battle passes and lootboxes.

>They steal your money

At one point the game allowed you to mix pieces of individual skins. Needless to say that was a huge selling point for most skins from that era(as they do not really look good on their own). However at one point Hi-rez choose not to do this anymore so they deleted this feature for all skins meaning that suddenly 3/4 of what you paid for was gone. No compensation or anything. Oh and if you complain on the forums we will ban you.

>No negativity allowed

Read their forum rules. They basically banned any negativity no matter how true. These days they straight up delete any thread for either "not being constructive" or "it belongs in the rant thread". So even if they wanted any actual feedback they will never get it since anything not kissing their ass gets deleted and memory holed.

>faked player numbers

Recently steam charts started showing the game getting massive gains of players which is very strange considering that almost no balance change they made in the last two years has been received… well less than poorly. Well it becomes clear when you realize they have been splicing their numbers with cross-play. So that increase is happening on PS4 and XBOX, not on PC. And even then its suspicions how their player base is growing but some people keep getting matched against the same pros, almost as if no one else was playing.

It could have been a great game and a competitor to Overwatch but Hi-rez successfully turned it into a complete shitshow. Its Tribes all over again.

I totally forgot about that but yeah. First few levels were against bots which no doubt fucked with whatever data they had on balance.

You could in fact see it on forums where kids that barely played the game for a few hours would cry about how Skye is unbalanced because it was too easy to shred those retard bots with her. Or that supports and frontliners are fine since against those brain dead bots they could not lose even if they tried. Ironically enough most people who made those kinds of posts on the forums quit the game a few days later because suddenly they were up against real players and suddenly the game was actually not fun anymore.

I am willing to bet that the reason why most of their balancing decisions are so pants on head retarded is mainly because they do no separate data from people who play against bots and people who do not. Because almost every dev blog they wrote was straight up wrong about how the game plays against live players but made complete sense against bots.

I had a somewhat different experience.

>have fun with the game at launch

>the weird energy system doesn't bother me, I'll pay for the game if I'm having enough fun with it to play that much

>start delving to the maximum depth i can with only mist energy, leveling weapons, upgrading gear

>decide to go for bombs simply because i'm a contrarian faggot and don't want to use a sword like everyone else

>spend weeks acquiring the materials for a mid-level bomb, specialized bombing armor, using my daily allotment of mist energy to craft them, and leveling them to max

>my entire loadout is geared towards using bombs at this point

>check it out with some other mid-level players

>hitting three enemies with each bomb and deploying them as fast as i can just about breaks even with any random asshole swinging a sword haphazardly, and that's if he's too dumb to ever hit more than one enemy

>i just wasted all of my playtime to build an entire equipment set that's slightly worse than just a mid-tier sword alone on groups, and vastly weaker against single targets

The balance was even worse than that. There were four enemy types and four damage types, but everyone built the slash-damage sword the name of which I can't remember. It had a charge attack that easily tripled the DPS of any other weapon regardless of type matching, and it was not difficult to find. I have heard that bombs are useful if you specialize into the elemental or status effect bombs deep in the upgrade trees, but I had never heard of such things back then, and moreover I probably wouldn't have access to them at all without paying up for energy and I had no way of knowing what to spend the energy on to get them. Then Three Rings increased the energy costs for all crafting and effectively locked free players out of anything past the lower echelons of mid-level stuff. At that point I just dropped it. I had already wasted enough time to get nothing and I wasn't eager to spend more. Game was fun for what it was, though.

You'll get a kick out of this: the publisher was bought out by a publisher that handled kids' games. No, really. GamersFirst - not Reloaded - was bought out by a company called LittleOrbit. Then the CEO himself came onto the forums and, in essence, promised to "save" APB. He's made some posts on the other games' forums (Fallen Earth, I think?) saying mostly the same thing, but he basically gambled his entire company's future on this worthless investment because he liked APB. I won't say they've done a fantastic job, because there haven't been many updates since then, but the official word is that every developer has their nose to the grindstone moving the entire codebase to the latest Unreal so that they can work on actual updates.

SMT Imagine was something special. It had this dodge hit mechanic inside the usual MMO "combat" system of hotkey gameplay which was nice. It also had demon collection and fusion. You demon would be summoned along side you and you'd have a bar for its skills as well. Sadly it was published by Aeria games in the west and their greed knew no bounds. A private server exists but for some reason they only had the jap version and translation work is slow.

Access to your gear. That's kind of the appeal of high risk, high reward. You can lose all the cool guns and armor you dropped in with, at the same time, you can take for yourself any cool guns and armor you see.

You can also insure your items, but you won't receive your items back if somebody else took them.

They won't. The game has been in early access for four years already and it's barely functional. If you really want to know how bad it is, the devs said that they won't be making a singleplayer/offline mode with actual progression because it's too much work, but then some random Russian modders managed to make a server emulator that allows you to play offline with progression, randomized bots and more features, when they didn't have access to the source code or anything like that in under six months.

It's more the game didn't let you download or purchase starter packs for it if your PC didn't meet minimum requirements. Which is a perfectly logical thing to do but it kept me from ever experiencing the game, even if it would have probably ran at a silky smooth 10fps for me.

Thing is, they aren't mine either(Or rather I liked Dota's idea but not so much the way it played) but the whole reason I bothered with Smite or Paragon was that I figured an actiony third person view would be right up my alley just like MNC was. But either game was more MOBA than action TPS and that really grinded my gears and I'd hoped Gigantic would be different.

Initially it was a windows 10 games for windows live exclusive, but not even microsoft money was enough to keep it running so they threw away that dumb requirement. A bit too late however and people had already lost interest in the game due to the exclusivity so they never heard about it being removed. It was a game with potential that got screwed over by investors demanding exclusivity and ports and more while not giving them enough money nor time to actually do those things, or killing them game with those same demands.

>>16831745

God im still ANGRY about Cosmic Break

>PvP and PvE game with robots

>HUGE options for customizing your robot's appareance and body, replacing limbs, weapons and even going as far as allowing you to draw your own textures for these parts ingame with a very basic microsoft paint-like tool

>You could even edit the MODEL of the head piece, which most people used to turn it into a flat plane to draw on and show off your art

>PvP allowed for up to 30vs30

>While the world was split into 3 factions, they each had their own lobbies and also a shared lobby to hang out in and interact with other people

>One of the shared lobbies areas had a jukebox where people could make and upload their own songs with ingame tools, so this lobby was constantly having anime or videogame songs playing for the whole area, comfy as fuck

It was so fucking good but then

>They use a GACHA system to introduce new units or parts

>There is a free ingame currency gacha that has really shitty prizes even if you manage to get the rarest one

>PREMIUM gacha is the only way to get the NEW units and parts

>They slowly start to introduce more ANIME GIRL units, always to the premium gacha

>While i have no issue with anime tits in my game, these units have the problem that they have very limited or NO customization whatsoever (you cant remove a girl's arm or head for obvious reasons, but there were some where you couldnt even change their weapons) defeating one of the main selling points of the game

>Since anime tits gacha isnt making enough money, they start making human units IN A MECH GAME REALLY OVERPOWERED. Just giving them ABSURD range, power, fire rate, speed. Just allowing some to lock on 20 enemies at once and shoot fast homing missiles at them that fuck em up or kill in one shot.

>The amount of anime girls units being introduced increases and eventually they STOP making ROBOTS WHATSOEVER.

>At some point they make this story event where some shit happens and the robots that were the leaders of each faction get turned into humans too

>Current state of the game: You can barely find an actual robot in lobbies and if you dont have a human unit you die in one hit. The free Gacha hasnt changed its loot in ages and there are like 9 different versions of PREMIUM GACHA.

I WILL NEVER FORGIVE

well it never even left beta. yep still beta after all these years. and it got turned pay to win. of course. they revealed their true intentions weren't to make a sustainable product, but a pump and dump one that will make a quick buck.

it's also been so long now that the game will look extremely aged and they'd have to do a completely new marketing campaign since it's been so long since the korean launch, and plus, again, they made the game's late content unplayable unless you're a whale.

i don't see any way that they would bring the game to the US unless they remade it from the ground up at this point. and they wouldn't do that because they're lazy chinks.

i know this is going to sound hyperbolic but i was a console player my whole life and i bought a gaming PC for no reason other than i wanted to play Lost Ark ahahaha. now that's out the window.

the population died and it wasn't making any money, it had a very small population even when it launched - probably 2k players total. there is a kickstarter to revive the game for $10k but it's barely backed and will likely never see the light of day again, the team that made it was pretty small and not wealthy by any means, i doubt they even made a positive return in money since it was free. the pay stuff was pretty meaningless, you could purchase weapons with in-game currency that was very easy to earn.

it used a server/lobby browser and the studio ran all the servers, a dedicated server tool was never released for it.

why not just release the server files and be done with it then? running a fucking master server is fucking pennies.

that's the kind of shit where devs are surprised no one buys their niche online only shit when you have to wonder how long it will be up.

I loved that game so fucking much. I played it to the tune of 2k hours, while I was working full time. I cut back on sleep to about 4 hours a night, and absolutely perfected my playstyle. I still have a raw copy of v2, before they fucked every single thing up, hoping to give it to someone whose soul isn't dead so they can reverse engineer it.

It still hurts. It hurts so bad, anons.

Project D online

It was this anime girl, gun shooting, waifu dress up game made entirely by one 16 year old Korean, and it was fun. Genuinely fun. It had the stupid bullshit grind missions, but they were quick in comparison to doing a boss rush on the top tier. Small playerbase, very relaxed, no p2w shit, but it wasn't free to play. It was 12 dollars. He had to stop making it because he needed an actual job or some shit and felt like he was letting down the community. He gave out one final gift, of running a private server for the game, and letting it be known that you can easily give your friends the files for the game and let them connect to your server.

Bless you, now 20 year old Korean man. I hope you are doing well.

Dirty Bomb. Fantastic shooting game, fun characters/classes/gadgets. Amazing gunplay, fun teamwork and a great dev team that had to abandon it because it wasn't financially viable. Despite the abandonment, they made EVERYTHING available with the in-game credits (including crate keys, legendary skins AND exclusive event items, which were now available in the shop) before closing the game, so that even though it's dead, you can still unlock and play everything. I wish the servers were more alive than they are, but at least a few people still play it. Game's fantastic.

I disagree.

The balance is not that gamebreaking, there is indeed a lot of useless chars, but not many in the OP side, a bad player with the best char will still fuck their team.

>events that require you to spend in excess of 200$ to unlock a skin

It's a free-to-play game with only cosmetics(and cheap characters), people who complain in a F2P about anything beside character unlocks are faggots, play with the default skin or suck it up.

>faked player numbers

Steamcharts use the steam API numbers, stop being a tinfoil retard, the increase is because it's holiday season.

>No negativity allowed

I got 24h suspension for being consecutively mass-reported(probably for trolling when 3 consecutive faggots broke the pick order, they don't gave the suspension reason), so I deleted my account after 1500hours.

My only real complain with the game was the waiting times and long match time, the matchmaking was slow, taking 1 minute or more, after that 3 or 5 minutes of picking characters, after that more 60 seconds until the first round starts and more 60 seconds between each round. It's the worst part of the game and there is no reason for so many waiting times, neither for not having a surrender option to speed things up.

Also rank mobility is nil, either you get a good placement or you get stuck in your rank, it's quite usual to see old grandmasters in platinum due bad placement and rank immobility.

I would play Overwatch instead(keys are really cheap), but I really dislike pozzing and tumblr pandering, the reason I shill Paladins is because it don't gave a fuck about PC culture, a BombKing skill is a literal loud orgasm moaning and every female skin is appealing and with enticing voices. In current year where everything is ugly on purpose due "muh male gaze" it was a refreshing thing.

Shardbound, a tactical CCG and the Dawngate team's second game, got an update after being dead for like two years. Feels kind of nuts seeing a game in a saturated genre go on hiatus and then actually come back, especially with Duelyst getting sunsetted.

There is no new content and no official servers, but the matchmaking after the "Dead Update" was juryrigged to search for community servers with people on them and has a randomizer to make 3 random characters a free trial a week. It's automated so that the community can persist without official support anymore, which is neat. Wish more games did this.

well go buy Mordhau, try wow classic (roll alliance on a pve server or horde on a pvp, your choice, dont roll shaman or paladin both get bundled into a corner late game and they arent fun like when you're leveling them), try vermintide 2 see if you like it.

There's also Grim Dawn and Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem if you want an action rpg thats actually good.

Did we play the same game? Sure it wasn’t post-buff Brandish tier but if you knew how the game handled combos, shield cancelling, and delayed followup attacks it was an insanely mobile weapon that could delete the most dangerous enemies in the game before they could do much, especially because you had super armor during the 2nd attack.

The charge attack could move teammates and was one of the best ways to punish afk leechers

Zombie Pandemic. A zombie survival MMO with real oldschool RPG mechanics. Shit was so much fun, but apparently devs weren't making enough dosh to support it so they had to close it. For some reason I never get any replies when I post about it, did no one here play it?

they jumped one the moba train because it was the hot shit back then and thought it would make them a lot of dosh. then they scrapped the whole thing and tried to turn it into an f2p omd sequel, which went as well as you'd expect. stupid licensing shit you hardly even see even for cheap ass korean mmos anymore didn't help (europe had it run by a different company, part of the deal was ip-blocking euros from the us-version and afterwards turned into a clusterfuck once they tried to migrade the eu version back to the devs).

now they make omd3 but for stadia first for that sweet google money.
