I bet none of those reworks will dare touch the cancerous microtransactions and the game elements meant to push whales towards spending all their money.

Well, after Asscreed Unity and Syndicate sold like shit, they said they would change Asscreed and FarCry to biyearly releases and they did, and they improved, even if very little.
Those games still sold decently well, Breakthrough and Division 2 sold like fucking shit, even lower than the previously mentioned Asscreed games, and retention rates for microtransactions barely did anything to cover those sales.
If they said it after fan backlash and after selling well I'd believe you, but that's not the case, this year has been a disaster for them.

Unironically, they are. The most average trash from 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago is of higher caliber than the overwhelming majority of "AAA" releases of today. And, I think part of that reason is because you actually needed to be experienced in the tech and programming field to at least SOME extent in order to be hired. Even the bootlegs from back then had developers backporting games to older systems and making them playable.

Not really no, play something like Messiah or Might and Magic 9.
I do agree that about the talent curation, but again if they try to do something of their own for each game we might get something half decent like Sleeping Dogs.
>>16812765
In a way he kind of has a point, the trash was usually a copy of something else and games back then were better so they copied those mechanics, even if badly.
For example, I'd rather play the 2005 Starship Troopers FPS game than most modern FPS games nowadays as that game has better mechanics, was actually ambitious and has hundreds of enemies onscreen and actually takes skill unlike most modern FPS games.
It's still broken as shit and has tons of godawful sections.
Still, it's an enjoyable crowd control game and much better than "shoot at the thing to see it die with damage numbers and hitmarkers and loot it's body".

Ubisoft will likely enter experimentation era like EA did in mid to late 00s. In case of SE it resulted in things like Mirror's Edge, Bad Company, Dead Space, Dante's Inferno and Army of Two. Maybe Ubisoft will find someone competent to revive Price of Persia? I am surprised they did not do it already, since the game ticks off diversity quota just due to its setting.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in development, as is another Watchdogs, Tom Clancy's IPs, Prince of Persia, HoMM, Just Dance, South Park, and Anno games. That's it for bigger franchises.
They also announced Skulls and Bones two years ago. It looks like team that had their pirate game hijacked and turned into another AC installment will get their chance. I suspect that this is one of the games that is getting retooled to be more distinct from AC.

When Baron was a child, she was on her own. She drew her own map and at some point came across two men old enough to remember Judgement Day. She camped with them, sharing advice and stories, but when she woke up the next morning, all her belongings were stolen, even her map. She wandered the desert, believing she was going to die. She almost did until Skynet found her and took her, cleaned her up and gave her new clothes. She had been taken to a Skynet research facility, where she was kept alive. She believed she was the only human there until a man came to the cell.
This man was believed to be a human traitor, selling what information he could to Skynet in exchange for the luxuries most people could not get anymore. When he stuffed his face with food, he requested a "whore" and as a result, he chose Baron. She endured under his torment for months until she was able to kill him by wrapping a towel around his neck and "make his eyes pop".

BGE2 is in development hell. I doubt that they even know what to do with the IP. I remember the huge difference between the reveal trailer and the second trailer 2 years later, it looked nothing like the reveal.
Skull & Bones was supposed to have an open alpha 2 years ago, it never happened. They don't know what to do with it either. The reveal trailer showed that they just extracted the naval sequences from AssCreed Black Flag, 2 years later they showed the meta, it was like a reskin of For Honor.
It's sad to see what they did to Watch_Dogs. It could've been a cool IP, now it's a meme game.

This is how you manipulate the entertainment industry and it's investors.
You make movies or TV shows about a peoples culture and/or history but you intentionally make it unappealing to the target demographic so that they don't watch it. Then you show the low numbers in ticket sales/viewers to the entertainment industry folk and its investors claiming the numbers prove a demographic and cultural shift which requires more diversity.

Why not just set it in China? Full blown 1984 with advanced tech is more likely over there then elsewhere, large metropolises are more filled with technology than any European city, they have robust and vibrant hacking culture (unlike UK), it would not be yet another game set in the U.S. or London, China has literal concentration camps for Muslims, and game could have little to none white people in it. It's a perfect fit for something like Watch_Dogs.

>Brexit caused 1984
It started all the way back in the 80s. Telecommunications Act of 1984 allowed for communications data surveillance. From then on, UK was being covered by more and more security cameras every year, and more surveillance laws and regulations were being passed since then. Populace never seemed too bothered about it and they are they only have themselves to blame. No other country in Europe monitors or restricts people as much as the UK. China and Koreas are the only ones that outdo Brits.

>The 80s
Nigga do your research. 1984 was written post WW2 about concerns of how much Britain was becoming a police state. They've had a very long history of being oppressive and watchful, and this isn't even going into how their colonial expansions were very very brutal. Now I'm not against colonialism, but rather as a country Britain has been a very long history of oppressive behavior.

Because anything that makes china look bad gets banned, and doing said thing may get them perma banned from doing anything in chinkland. Add in that western companies can't say no to communist cash so the only way you will get something set in china is if it shows the insects in a positive light.

Hollywood just kisses China's ass and panders to them these days. Though I've heard chink movie goers say that they are getting sick of the brown nosing.

Sadly doesn't matter what they think when their leaders are still easily offended and will demand respect/changes after even the smallest of slights.

It's as if they only cared about money all along and all the virtue signalling towards the glorious Marxist takeover was really about the beta males in their employment having a chance to get laid for morale purposes.

I personally would like a game set in China. It's a very interesting place considering that near the end of the 1960s while America was watching the moon landings on TV in their homes, Chinese were still digging the dirt to not starve because their glorious leader decided to make all the farms into steel smelters. That and all the colleges were shut down and students forced to go farming. Then you had a huge shift starting from 1980 to 2000s, where most of the big cities went through equivalent of 100 years of development in 20 years. Then you have the 2000s to 2008 period, ending with the Olympics which then caused development to skyrocket once again. What you have is a generation of people who were literally starving now sitting on the wealth of one of the largest economies. The culture is entirely fucked and the mix of incompetence and scary levels of surveillance makes for an interesting setting. There's been a push to have facial recognition software in everything, from entering train stations, membership card usage, visiting hospitals and whatnot. The ID unlike a SIN is also used in a lot of travel aspects. So you have both facial data and ID data floating around that the government can collect at leisure.
But yeah it would never happen because muh offense and pandering.

Because Tencent partially owns Ubisoft.
I agree though, I would totally see CityOS testing their new technology in China. I think you could also take advantage of the crazy shit that is going on like the social credit score (and will soon be brought in western countries via Big Tech), etc.
Watch_Dogs should have been a game use to warn people about the danger of big tech companies.

>you could "recruit the populace" so there isn't a central protagonist in the game
That's what I hate the most about this game. It's laziness and they've missunderstood the concept of the watch_dogs. They are neiter terrorists nor a mob. WD2 really destroyed the concept and turned it into a mix of Anonymous, Occupy and antifa hipsters.

on one hand it's great that studios seem to have a lot of freedom when they make their games, on the other hand the people in charge are fucking retarded, which will inevitably lead safe games with high oversight that are just as shit as everything else these days.
