I need some help.
<For the past year, I've been doing these exercising almost every day of just drawing lines, squares, circles, triangles, and cubes in order to help "improve" my drawing ability (They usually take about 18-22 minutes).
However, I feel like I haven't really improved that much more from where I was comparatively last year. For some context, I have both a touchscreen 2-in-1 and a Bamboo drawing tablet attached to my desktop, with alternating the exercises on the laptop one day and doing it on the desktop with the tablet the next. Can anyone offer me some advice on if there is a way that I can actually "compare" how my skills are now? I decided to "step away" from attempting to draw an actual picture because I just wanted to focus on improving my ability, so I have no material of my own that I can use for comparison Or, what is it that I should start working on next if I want to improve even further?

What exactly are you practicing when drawing those lines, cubes and circles? Just throwing down lines is better than nothing, but try to dial into something specific.
If you're drawing lines, you could try for line quality, getting them silky smooth without wobbles. Or maybe accuracy, getting them to start and stop exactly where you want them. If you've got pressure sensitivity, that's another thing to practice.
Circles have position, size, correctness as well as line quality.
Cubes have perspective, and that's a whole new can of worms to learn to see, reason about and execute.
Hell, just learning to see in general and building up a sensitivity toward proportion, symmetry and fluidity is a task in and of itself.
Do you draw from the wrist? If so, learning to draw from the shoulder wouldn't hurt. Your accuracy will suffer for a while, but the inertia from your arm will necessarily smooth out your linework and help keep curves lively.

As far as pressure sensitivity, the tablet hooked up to my desktop does have that capability, but my 2-in-1 doesn't. Although, with that being said, am I am trying to stop myself from pressing down too hard and letting my hand just glide across whatever I am using. Also, I am getting into the habit of using my arm, but it still feels like it's more "imprecise" then back when I just used my wrist.

Quality of exercises is a good way to put it. The moment you find yourself just going through the motions, you're not really learning anymore. You'll want variety, too. Reading up on perspective, picking up gesture drawing for better fluidity and proportions, trying to shade and color things. Doing projects that aren't just practice help you see what's not up to snuff and what you should be focusing on and figure out a process to go from a blank sheet to finished piece. Getting nice cubes and triangles won't help you unless you know how to apply things you've learnt on more "real" things.

They've had major updates as of late, much of the old remaining art/monsters has been redesigned or phased out, THEY'VE FINALLY UPDATED THE DARKOVORIA CLASSES AFTER 20+ YEARS, Vampires are now literal best faction thanks to CHA abuse & using rules from D&D. But many of the abusable glitches remain, and they've still not made dialogue appealing because of those fuckass text boxes and comic sans fonts.
Also, the quests are dicksmashingly hard now, even my X-guardian PC has trouble with it, and I've not completed it.
Here's some of my secrets you may use
Paladins Oath, an ingame battle ring boosts your CHA & LCK and this other stat to mindnumbingly stupid fuck high levels, making CHA dependant abilities and pets utterly broken, as well as ENSURING procs of item special aties like the blade of AWE, as I have summoning the Guardian dragon one too many times, and even the fucking Power Word DIE Reaper attack, this is also broken as shit with the Leprechaun/Shadowpeople/War sets in place. Any weapon that changes damaging element through enemy contact affects the Necromancer class skill Skull swarm, changing it's elemental damage output. Get the book on a stick, it regens mana for free and can be abused to have another source of healing

Here are five of the "best" drawings that I made over the years. Most of them were for my Youtube channel; which I delete as of a few years ago, and haven't really dedicated myself to actually "drawing" anything since and mostly doing exercises. Last year was really when I went "all in" on trying to do the exercises every day rather than off-and-on. For some context:
<First three pics are 2016
Also, a bit of a side-note, the first image was done on Colors! 3D on my 3DS. The rest I uploaded were done on a mix between working on the laptop and on the desktop.
<Last two are 2017
And, the most "recent" image I did (Which I didn't upload because it's not one of the "best") was from 2018.
I don't care about what looks "good" in those pictures (Because that tells me jack about my actual skill), I want to know where I can do better and how I can learn to do it. Remembering the process I took to make those, I wasted too much time because of my lack of skill in order to make them "look good". And, it probably doesn't help that NONE of the art classes I actually took in school taught me anything because most of the so-called "lessons" boiled down to "Just draw what is asked and you'll get an 'A'."
So, what process do I need to take in order to become a "pro".

Looks like you could use some point-perspective and 3D visualization of the environment. The issues I notice most are the symmetries of the environment and the flatness of the figures. In the last picture things seem to be skewed larger vertically towards the left side of the image, which can work for wide-fov perspective but the other axis has to be skewed to match or it'll look wonky. I'd suggest looking up point-perspective tutorials (assuming you don't already know this) and drawing more environments with weird shapes laying around to get a better hang of capturing a proportional environment.

Pretty much do what >>16814380 and >>16814505 said. Work on those fundamentals first. I know that we sound like a broken record, but even i practice drawing lines for god knows why until i get the hang of it. I'd recommend Andrew Loomis books for starters since /loomis/ directed me to it. You can find those in the OP. Also start off by drawing things that you're most passionate about, for example mine is sketching reptiles dinosaurs and guns, so i usually draw those in my free time since i like drawing it.
Another thing is that, if you struggle digitally, then i'd recommend going back to good ol' #2 and sheets of paper. You'd have much more control doing things traditionally.
Lastly, prepare to be humbled by people who are more skilled / experienced that you are. And don't be afraid to copy some elements from your favorite artists. Just make sure that you'd be able to make your drawings distinct. I know i do.

I think we all know it's pretty common for digital artists to work in high resolutions and then share shit in some more manageable format. So, yeah, by all means work in 4000x4000 resolutions and save an archival copy for yourself as a psd or whatever, but when you post make a smaller derived image that's resampled at the same ratio. We aren't a print shop and the extra detail isn't really necessary for our enjoyment–it's not like it's some giant titty image or whatever. Whatever you're drawing is probably has a customizable workflow for saving a copy for publishing online.

this may be too general but I think this is some good advice:
a lot of drawing is "hardwired" technique. like any skill it's very arbitrary and there's a lot of little pieces of explicit, straightforward info that you'll learn and you'll go "damn if only i knew this years ago"
for a specific example, let's say you're basically a master at drawing anatomy. you've been doing it for years and you can "sense" pretty accurately how shit is supposed to look, but the catch is you've never drawn a really specific and difficult pose. well, chances are unless you practiced that exact pose before you aren't going to be able to nail it.
drawing is like learning a language. you gotta practice using words before learning them. drawing is like learning to cook. you gotta know the taste of ingredients before using them. drawing is like dancing. you gotta rehearse movements before performing them. etc.
if you keep learning new techniques - as long as you have the dedication to at least get a handle on each before moving on - you won't stagnate. that's basically how you learn to do anything, really. there's a lotta autist drawfags and autists in general who stay inside their comfort zones and never really think WHAT they're going to learn specifically next, which causes them to stay at the level of DeviantArt Minecraft Vore Porn for years, decades now even. Just don't do that.
additionally, it's good to have an understanding of what you are trying to learn, as I said earlier skills are arbitrary, they're "hardcoded" and specific, they're not like passive and vague things you just get better at by practicing. know what you're trying to learn. don't wake up and say "today I'm focusing on anatomy". wake up and say "today I'm going to study the anatomy of the left nostril" or whatever.
