The story behind this "game" is insane, way more interesting than the product itself.
You know Retro Studios? The guys behind Metroid Prime? The dude who ran Topheavy Studios, Jeff Spangenberg, used to run them as well.
He was the founder of Iguana Entertainment (Turok devs among many other things), the company was bought by Acclaim for $5,000,000 in 1995 and he fired in 1998 for becoming a rather reckless person. He ended up using them. He founded Retro shortly after and instantly got a deal with Nintendo to make a series of Metroid games due to his success with Iguana.
Development was horrible and had a lot of crunch time, some devs working a hundred hours a week. But not Jeff, he had devolved a rockstar mentality and was off doing drugs, fucking hookers and crashing cars.
He even ran a softcore porn site using the computers Nintendo provided. The guy's life was spiraling out of control, he was getting more and more destructive both for himself and his studios. Nintendo really didn't like Jeff, but really liked the look of how Prime was turning out. The porn website he ran was the final straw.
They gave Jeff a deal which was basically pic related, but replace 100 with 1000000. He took the deal and left the company, making Retro a first-party dev.
Afterwards he founded Topheavy Studios and wanted to make "mature" games for adults. Of course the only way to do this was to create the horny drug-fueled 2000's abomination that was The Guy Game. It's not even a game, it's a shitty quiz with bad FMVs of young adults.
It absolutely bombed, both commercially and critically. Most stores wouldn't even sell it and it was quickly pulled from the few that did after one of the girls in the game turned out of be a 17-year-old.
Jeff tried to recoup these losses by reselling The Guy Game as a DVD with extra content and the 17-year-old's scenes removed. That also bombed and again, even more stores refused to sell it due to the low sales of the original game and general poor quality of the product. It was an absolute disaster and killed his career.
After this, he completely vanished from the face of the Earth. Just like that.
He was developer/producer of such series as Aero the Acro-Bat, NBA Jam, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and fucking Metroid Prime.. this guy easily could have been a Gabe Newell or Todd Howard figure today if he had just got his shit together. Now he's an obscure nobody, only remembered constantly sabotaging his own success.

I will agree the meet ups are not a good measuring sticks since, lets be honest, if people are having group meetings based on being on /pol/ or /k/ or any board you gotta expect some odd shit.
