Lot of those rumour mongering people say it’s gonna be either Uncle Dante from the devil may cry series or Arle from Puyo Puyo, but the same retards also were super sure it would have been announced at the game awards so they don’t exactly have any legs to stand on. People are also throwing around KOSMOS, Phoenix Wright, Reimu, and all the really neverevers like Waluigi or Sora.

I’m still leaning towards Arle for now.
A puyo puyo 2 rerelease got pushed back to the 16th, an actual leaker from japan claimed one unfinished fighter half a year ago looked kinda like a shrine maiden (but not reimu) and had a flying weapon of some kind, Puyo Puyo is Segas 2nd biggest brand in Japan behind Sonic, and Sakurai was at Hal when they made Kirbys Avalanche (puyopuyo). The DLC was also decided around the time of PuyoPuyo tetris doing well, just like how Terry was decided after the SNK rereleases did well. I can really see them making her as a wildcard puzzle game rep.
THEN AGAIN I would love Dante or any capcom rep really, or someone more out there too.

Can't make any predictions for certain considering how much conflicting information I'm hearing, but I know I would be extremely disappointed with Arle or KOSMOS. Phoenix I can tolerate to extent but it would still feel like a flaccid way to end the Fighter's Pass. If I had to say who I want personally, Doom Slayer, Travis, Chosen Undead, Dante, Crash, Kunio, Earthworm Jim, Frogger (I'm serious).
I guess I can't complain because I wanted Banjo-Kazooie and now they're in, but that won't stop me from thinking some additions would be dumb or uneventful.

This is actually very fucking unfair. I mean, between indies, specially in Japan, what is more representative? The kind of comiket doujinshi games, or pozzed western RPG? The only reason Undertale got in was because Toby Fox was lucky enough to be on the right place at the right time. And the whole "Westerns wouldn't know" is fucking bullshit since Terry Bogard will be part of Smash despite being more representative in Japan than in the rest of the world. I'm ok with having a Reimu costume and some of the fantastic Touhou tracks, that's actually celebrating video game history and not just fucking pandering.

I wouldnt put Reimu as low as Undertale. Undertale has one game, 2hu has many many games including like 5 fangamespinoff things for sale on switch including a fucking 2hu racing game. Arle would be disappointing as an end to the Fighter's Pass, personally speaking. I understand that she's more recognized for Puyo Puyo as an icon of puzzle games, but she originates from the JRPG series "Mado Monogatari" and it would make the pass feel oversaturated considering Joker and Hero. And then there's the fact it would be another character owned by Sega in addition to Joker. I understand relationship between Atlus and Sega is different, but then there's people that complain about Master Chief for Microsoft having another character, when Rare and Microsoft is same situation. People already complained about Terry being too niche or Japanese, I can't imagine what the international reception to Arle would be like.
If we're going to have puzzle characters, why not these two? I understand, like Arle they didn't originate from a puzzle game but their game of origin would still be a different genre or style to the rest of the Fighter's Pass and has at least some puzzle or strategic elements. They have wonderful appeal worldwide, particularly in Europe (considering it was mostly the United States that voted for Banjo-Kazooie) and Puzzle Bobble is one of the most copied puzzle formulas ever, moreso than Tetris I'd say. Damn, well it would still be a preferred alternative to Arle and I doubt most people see them as characters from Square Enix, but then you could argue the same thing about Joker and Atlus being as Sega. And I'll be honest, I'm a bit biased against Arle considering Puyo Puyo Tetris was the first time I was even aware that Puyo Puyo had characters or knew just exactly what the series was. Imagine that, it took a Tetris game for me to expand what I knew about Puyo Puyo. She's not exactly what I think of when I think "video game icon" her design is relatively buried compared to the series whereas Bub & Bob are as recognizable as the game they're from. What argument do you think there is for licensed characters used in video games which are practically entirely original properties? Because as far as Dragon Ball games go, they're still connected to the same continuity, universe, or events that happened in the manga/anime, sometimes with an original story or alternate timeline to the source. There are certain characters where I believe their other appearances in media might as well be a separate character than who they originated as. Mickey Mouse is one of them I believe, considering how much original content was generated for his early games with how protective Disney was of pre-existing assests. And if Smash Bros. wants to properly display video game history, there should be room to demonstrate the impact some licensed games can have such as Castle of Illusion which was developed in-house by Sega and showcased the Genesis superior graphics, sprite animation quality, and sound compared to the 8-bit systems of the time, sending Sega vs. Nintendo into full swing. Without Castle of Illusion there very well may have not been Earthworm Jim, Aladdin, and by extension Donkey Kong Country.
There's also a neat tidbit of Nintendo history where Disney licensed their properties to Nintendo's hanafuda cards in 1959. It was a huge success and the profits allowed Nintendo to branch out as a company and invest into producing other products like toys, which eventually lead into video games. Nintendo existing and producing video games today can be solely attributed to the success that a Disney license allowed them.

Oh, I know it'll never happen. I just think it's an incredibly fun concept considering his extensive video game history and the ways he's impacted gaming as much as the rest of the roster. It's impressive for a character that doesn't originate in the medium to have as much purely gaming related iconography in addition to his other appearances. It also throws Sorafags for a loop because if that character gets in, he should have the licensed material with him, but at that point, why not go for the more iconic and recognizable character if it's allowed? There's certainly a lot to work with too, and from purely his games no less. The idea isn't to put Mickey in Smash Bros. and then have a lot of songs, stages, spirits, related to his other apperances, no, not at all. The idea is that his appearance in Smash Bros. would only be reflective of original content exclusively in his video games. It would moreso be a celebration of Castle of Illusion, Magical Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and the games he's appeared in than it would be of Mickey Mouse.
I understand that he would be a licensed character, but part of what I'm arguing is that if we should represent and celebrate licensed games, why are we considering characters like Goku and Geralt? And all of this is incredibly ironic considering how much I hate Disney as a company. But yes, I realize he'll never happen.
Also a lot of developers in Smash Bros. have had a hand in creating Mickey Mouse games. Nintendo (G&W, Hanafuda), Sega (Illusion Series), Capcom (Magical Quest), Square-Enix (Kingdom Hearts), Konami (Disney Sports), Rare (Mickey's Speedway).

All Duck Hunt does is crawl on the screen and laugh at you, yet he's in. Dr. Mario only throws pills into a bottle, he's in too. Wii Fit Trainer is in despite doing nothing but lecturing you on how to do dragon flags.
The character has more abilities than just standing in a section of the screen you fucktard. And there's no reason her moveset couldn't be based around PDP gameplay either. She could create a stack of panels and move them around with a swap cursor or pop them with her smash attacks, leaving behind an area-of-effect that can be electrified or icy or on fire or leave pollen clouds that sprout plants on the player depending on the color of the panels that got exploded.
She can also perform chains on the panel stack that augment a special that allow her to drop garbage blocks on people.
Not counting all the stuff she can do in lore like making plants grow, which is moveset potential all its own.
Imagine being an actually bonafide fucking retarded Dantefag who needs his movesets spelled out for him in the original games because he lacks the imagination to make one himself. All your character choices are total fucking shit, and you need to go back to being Todd Howard's cum receptacle instead of interacting with human beings ever again.

Well, in wave 2 I guess (Unless what I said earlier in thi post is true and RE was FP5 the whole time.) but Ultimate is going to be supported until the end of the Switch's lifespan.
