God damn it, I know that the Playstation 5 likely won't be worth shit as it'll likely be another AAA machine since that's the market their aiming for. But I still wanted a show to look forward to for this year's E3, with the potential illusion of new worthwhile announcements. I'd be fine if other companies made a Direct like show where they outline their holiday lineup and beyond, but who the hell knows what to expect anymore. Still, E3 should be fun regardless because of the new Xbox and companies wanting to show off their guns even if sony themselves doesn't have a show.

< The ESA is trying to rebrand E3 as a “fan, media, and influencer festival” for next year’s event.
<In a pitch deck intended for the lobbying group’s members (last updated August 16, 2019), the ESA says it has plans to adapt its offerings in response to feedback gathered from publishers. As part of its overhaul, the group proposes leaning into influencers and paid celebrity deals with talent representation agencies like UTA and CAA.
<The deck includes two examples of these high profile celebrity activations, including members of the Los Angeles Lakers playing a basketball video game in front of fans or actors competing in a tournament. These attractions rely on a massive change to the E3 show floor.
<The presentation includes a sample of what the LA Convention Center’s West Hall might look like with eight “experience” hubs” in the middle of traditional booths (see below for proposed floor plan and E3 2018 West Hall floor plan). ESA members voiced approval for the new floor plan.
< The lobbying group says it hopes to create “exclusive/appointment only activations for select attendees who will create buzz and FOMO.”

I know a year ago many would have said Sony skipping E3 was a bad move and would damage them. But after last years shitty E3 we had
<Bethesda making tons of leftist diatribe stuff
>Doom Eternal
<Ubisoft having literally the worst conference about Diversity, inclusion, politics shoved up the ass with purity spiraling.
<MAH KEANU REEVES BRO MAH CELEB IS IN THE GAME
<Cyberpunk is now Single player instead of open world!!!!
Sony's state of play was awful due to no games, but holy fuck E3 outperformed it to be this bad. Sony is correct to pull a Nintendo and have the PS5 be available across all the Western storefronts to try out and to play it for themselves.

No, E3 has been a farce since 2006 when they got rid of booth babes. You're just underage and don't remember when it was actually exciting to see brand new games and wasn't publishers lying and developers making asses of themselves.

It's a Jewish thing. Their belief that if they tell the goyim what they're going to do to them, and then lie to them and mislead them about it, then it's their own fault for falling victim to their schemes.

They're barely relevant outside Playstation and the company has been on financial straits for years, they should really just rename to Playstation at this point.

I think this is because companies basically "solved" E3 over the past decade. Outside of EA and to a lesser extent Ubisoft, companies have started to realize that people actually pay attention to E3 for FUCKING VIDEO GAMES, rather than on-stage razzledazzle. While a dashing of it if it's immediately relevant to the game being shown is acceptable, anything beyond that takes away from the purpose of the show itself.
A prime example of this evolution is looking at Microsoft's 2012 presentation compared to their more recent ones. That was the year they were showing off the Xbone, and what did they do? Spent pretty much the whole damn time showing off the things that weren't video games, and got rightfully roasted for it. Nowadays, they pretty much stick with wall-to-wall game announcements Gameplay not included.
I think Nintendo led the way with this back in 2010, and Sony/Microsoft caught up within a few years. Now it's pretty much the expectation going in. While it's good for people that actually want to see video games, it's a shame for people that are just there to laugh at it.

So will Sony choose an event to make the "big" reveal or will it really be these random consumer events? Seems like it will only backfire to choose an event without telling anyone like they did with CES.

Sure most of Sony is bleeding money, from their movies to electronics. But their life insurance section is the real moneymaker, not the Playstation brand. They would rename to Sony Financial Holdings, the jewish side of the company that controls the life insurance and banking side of the company.
