Every IP has an end point, either its run into the ground and judged as unprofitable and ends in a bad way like Dead Space or it ends saying all it wanted to say and leaves you satisfied. Whats your favourite moment of "this is the final thing put out in this setting and it nails it"?
For me its Bloodbornes Old Hunters Expansion. Set in a entirely separate dream where a curse upon the hunters leads the blooddrunk and battle crazed hunters to be trapped in a literal nightmare acting as a purgatory where the sins of the past repeat. The nightmare leads the player through the experiments of the healing church to the source of it all: A dead old god washed up on the beach of a simple fishing hamlet. Its stillborn child the Orphon of Kos acting as the lynchpin of the Curse. Innocent in the most literal terms but unborn so without a true life to more on to.
The player kills it after it acts out the brutal wishes of the curse that created the place and its spirit descends beneath the ocean waves. The ocean in bloodborne being a thematic and literal bulwark between worlds and dreams. The curse not truly broken but freed to live in peace instead of in a constant cycle of death and pain contained beneath the metaphysical waves while the cover up of the atrocities the church committed come to light which was all that was really wanted in the first place.
Your character looks out over the beach and a voiceover says "Ah sweet child of Kos, returned to the ocean. A bottomless curse, a bottomless sea, accepting of all that there is, and can be". and thats that. Bloodborne is done. You saw the end of it all in the main game, this tells you how it began and wraps up the last nightmare it spawned. Putting a bow on the whole package and leaving you with a line that in hindsight is just a literal explanation of the ending but still sits with me because its a calm moment to relax after a tense, fast paced boss fight.
What game or series ended on a great moment like this for you?

Barely any series' have a proper conclusion. The only one I can think of is Max Payne 3, and even then they could end up reviving it. Each game seems to conclude and then Max Payne gets resurrected for the next game.

I think this has maybe happened like once or twice in the history of my gaming. I can't recall what games they were though. Which is sad because I hate 99% of the endings to games so I should at least try to remember the ones I like.

When they blew up Wesker at the end of Resident Evil 5. The series should have ended there, but Capcom got greedy and had to go and make 6 which just stretched the story thin. I didn't see any point in continuing after they had killed off their best villain.

Have they said anything? Even implied?
3 didn't even have a anything to do wth with Payne, it went the Mad Max route where the main character is just a lens to experience the plot through. They could've used a anything in place of Max.

>MGS4
Ocelot has finished his life's mission by avenging his father-figure, BB. Solid Snake has at long lost taken down the Deep State, and saved a loli, edgemaster and Otaku along the way. BB got to outlive all of his enemies and died knowing that all of the shit the he helped cause is over. Raiden wasn't getting cucked afterall and got to live a normal life.
It was the best way in terms of story to end the series. Unfortunately, it wasn't that long. A lot of the cool maps like Europe and the ME are way too short and you barely get to do anything before a cutscene kicks in. If the game ever gets remade, I hope the amount of cutscenes gets throttled and the maps last longer.
MGR was fine, but I'd consider it more of a sidestory than the continuation of MG's story. MGV was Konami trying to milk the franchise even more, and I don't even acknowledge it now.

I wish I had picked up that expac. I stopped playing before it came out, and I was still pretty burnt out from chalice dungeons at the time as well.

That's most IPs. One that always stands out in my mind is Bleach. Aizen got "killed" and the protagonist gave up his powers. It should have been the end, but then it kept going.

New Vegas with every single plotline and DLC beating you over the head with "Let go of the past." Yeah, it's on the nose as fuck, but it's not wrong. Fallout was over before New Vegas had even come out. It was over and done as soon as Van Buren was cancelled. New Vegas wasn't a revival, it was one last victory lap, and it was never going to change the direction the franchise was going in, so the devs just tell you to let go of the past, no matter how nostalgic you are for it, or how angry you are over it. You can't change it, so it's time to move on.

Battle Network 6 had a pretty good ending. I still want more of the gameplay, but the characters had a good conclusion.
Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow is pretty solid for a final game in the Castlevania game in chronological terms. It gave a good, conclusive, final death for Dracula. There's a potential for other creatures of the night to create a similar disturbance, but Dracula's story has seen its end (but not its penultimate). Konami needs to outsource a 1999 game to IGA though.

The Ninja Gaiden classic series really got two good wrapped up endings ti its series. The second game wraps up the plot nice and well and the third game wraps up any leftovers in the form of a prequel.

Fallout died when FO3 happened. You could even say that FO and TES died when FO76 happened, because I believe Todd said that they had no plans for TES6 at the time. Of course, Todd lies often and can't be trusted.

Now that I think about it, the Shinobi PS2 games ended pretty beautifully. In the first game, the young master ninja Hotsuma wielded the insatiable demonic blade Akujiki in the name of his fallen comrades and used its incredible power to cut through a litany of yokai and the onmyouji controlling them and, in order to ensure that the blade would never fall into the wrong hands, in the end allowed himself to be consumed by said blade's appetite. See, Akujiki grows in power by consuming the evil within man, and the sword will become dormant if it can't feed, so Hotsuma's sacrifice should've allowed a competent priestess to seal the blade.
The sequel starts off with this very premise and the sword is shattered into nine pieces and sealed by powerful magic. However, a powerful Japanese corporation called Nakatomi sought the sword and sent a legion of ninja, including an elite task force of high ranking shinobi and a cyborg, to collect the shards of the blade so it may be reforged. When this happens, a skilled kunoichi from Hotsuma's bloodline is dispatched to collect the shards of the blade before these insurgents do. Ultimately, the kunoichi Hibana thwarts Nakatomi's effort to retrieve the blade and disappears without a trace with the sword in hand.
This series of events wraps things up nicely because we gain closure for the first game's protagonist and, although it could be argued that the second game's ending is left ambiguous so that a sequel could inevitably be made, the second game's plot explores what the world would be like if Akujiki was allowed to exist unfettered. As for Hibana, although she never receives any closure, she is likely doing just fine as the sword's guardian. The final boss of the game is essentially the demon essence that lives within the blade, so this battle is something of an exorcism. She successfully cleansed the blade and forced the demon into dormancy, so she doesn't have to contend with the sword's curse, which would have her bound by its will and forced into incessantly killing humans in order to feed it. She can safely wield it for as long as she needs to, so any sequel would likely take place hundreds of years into the future, after Hibana's death, when the sword lay dormant and is somehow awakened again. Do we really need that? It would be a retread of the first game but with different characters.
I'd still like to see another ninja game with these mechanics though, even a sequel that has nothing to do with the first two games' story.

I already have. It's better vidya than what the majority of the current-year devs are putting out. It's nice playing games that aren't infested by sjw politics and trannies.
