Dell wants to create a knock-off of the Nintendo Switch, but it runs a shitty Intel APU instead of AMD's newer 7nm APUs.

Bad news from CES 2020: Thunderbolt 4 is just a renamed Thunderbolt 3 with no upgrades to bandwidth whatsoever. So external GPUs are still not a viable option because of choked bandwidth on TB3.

I also gotta mention this because it happens ever goddamn year now.

RGB Shit:

Corsair's iCUE RGB software is getting integration with Asus motherboards so you can just use iCUE instead of having to install Asus RGB software as well..

Corsair "made RGB tempered glass" by putting their capellix RGB LEDs onto a transparent layer attached to tempered glass panel on a Corsair PC case.

Thermaltake demo'd RGB software that operates effects on a timeline and allows the user to easily identify and drag-drop arrange icons for RGB components in the GUI. Doesn't appear to do layered effects like iCUE though.

And Lian Li made RGB fans that can snap together in a row called the "Lian Li Uni-fan" so instead of 4-pin PWM and 3-pin DLED cable for every individual fan you only have two cables to deal with for every row of fans by snapping them together in a daisy-chain.

Lian Li also made another O11 Dynamic because it prints money. This time it is an O11 Dynamic "Mini" yet supports ATX, Mini-ATX, Mini-DTX and Mini-ITX with each having different possible radiator/fan setups.

AMD will release the RX 5600 XT, an "ultimate 1080p" GPU card that's supposed to compete with Nvidia's GTX 1660 Ti/SUPER lineup. MSRP is $279 and has 6GB of GDDR6 memory. Might be useful for Ganoo slash Loonix, although Navi support altogether is not as stable as Polaris or Vega at the moment. Will be available January 21.

Because that's EXACTLY what E3 was supposed to be for. Games were basically stuck in the janitor's closet at CES, or forced to show off their gear in a hobo-tent in the parking lot until the ISDA formed and game companies fucked off to hold their own trade convention. With blackjack, and hookers, and tons of blow. E3 after-parties were kind of notorious, and are responsible to no small degree for turning Sessler into the coke-goblin he is today.

Yeah, I thought about upgrading my RX 580 card because that shit is like, lower-mid range by now - but I can still run everything at 1080p 60 ultra settings. I only see a few dips into the 50's on really unoptimized AAA trash, but the vast majority of what I play are older games and japshit that don't need a screaming fast card.

Might as well just save the cash and put it into a PCIE mounted NVME drive. My board is a bit older and doesn't have one included, but apparently it still handles the new Ryzen 3000 processors like a champ after a few BIOS updates.

development takes time, and it's not like AMD had massive funds to do both CPU and GPU. there's also no point in competing with a 2080ti when it's only a single digit of the whole market. just look at the steam survey, 1080p is 70% of the market, 1440p is 7%. 4k is a meme - and it will stay that way unless the new consoles really up the limit.

got a 590 which effectively cost 150 bucks after selling the games (although linux support was a bitch back then, should be better now).

280 bucks for a 5600xt is msrp, street price will probably be cheaper and come with it's own reward stuff you can sell. the only headscratcher is why bother with it when you can get a 5700 for a few bucks more.

Jewvidia this gen (RTX 2000) is overpriced SHIT. Not sure about how next gen will play out.

Currently AMD RX 5700 and 5700XT have quite good price-performance. (former is slightly worse than RTX 2060S, latter is slightly worse than RTX 2070S). RX 5600XT looks to be the cheap middle-end (RX 580 successor).

Also don't buy high end, if you're playing at 1440@60 mid-high end has you covered. They also can't do 4K@60FPS, so there's little reason to get them unless you're into >muh 144Hz.

>Intel

They're quite tied with AMD. I'd pick comparable offerings based on price.

Personally, I currently hate Jewvidia and Jewtel more than I hate JewMD, though the difference is becoming narrower, especially with the how JewMD jacked up prices on this gen's threadrippers while offering few improvements over last gen (which is an indication of what's to follow).

By spin out of control I meant their CPU's actually starting to get crazy, those threadrippers are really something, a meme right now more for workstations, but a good testing bed for very wide core counts, but even then those are good prices for workstation cpus with that sheer amount of power, their chiplets, that's a pretty nifty way to improve yields, surprised I hadn't heard of it until I saw that threadripper at CES 2020 and was confused why there were other modules on the processor. Next CPU, probably an AMD.

>>16801086

goes without saying, I always saw high end as companies just trying to felx on eachother, still useful but it's all workstation niche shit.

chiplet GPUs is the big thing coming up, right now everything's expensive XBOXHUEG dies with shit yields and shit thermals. since amd already has experience with chiplets from zen it's gonna be interesting how shit will go down once we get there (and is another factor why amd doesn't go all in with the monolithic gpus)

>Does AMD RX have hardware ray tracing like Nvidia, if so then I don't care until they do? but I sure as fuck aren't buying anything that's first gen.

I think there's some support but never looked into it much. as long as I know I'm not paying for meme features I don't really care. there were also some software solutions like the crytek demo a while back, no idea how performant and worthwhile it is yet.

one thing to remember tho is raytracing is a "feature" of the next consoles, and those run amd. so unless nvidia chinks it up with a sponsored port it should work to some extend on pc.

>good to see AMD getting somewhere again.

don't forget we could've have proper virtual assistants instead of machine learning spy devices to gather advertisement data by now too.

Like a child pulling apart a pocket watch to see how it works and then gluing it back together when they realize they do not know how to reassemble it.

I have no hope in the west. We are crude and arrogant and make ugly things and celebrate ugliness and deride beauty.

We were never going to get proper virtual assistants from a mass market source. That's really something that people are going to have to build for themselves. Or at the very least hack this to mod the girl, improve her functionality, and remove all of the spyware and ad-revenue hooks.

For real though, if they could get the voice recognition and personality sophisticated enough, the about the best use I could see for them is in elderly care. Just to have someone around the house all the time to keep an eye on the old fucks, remind them to take their pills, and provide them some company.

When I heard 'New Zealand' I knew right away what was going on. Start up tech firms over there get government funding to practically do nothing or create bullshit vaporware products nobody wants. The Australia based Euclideon Unlimited Detail scam has been going on since 2010 with nothing to show for it asides for bullshit tech demos.

That shit's unbearable, I saw videos of it as a teenager just to realize years later it was just another government grant scam when it went fuck nowhere so they could collect more cash.

I meant more that the goal was not how can we advance the tech but make a glorified shopping assistant sponsored by three latter agencies.

even that wouldn't be the problem if they would just use it as a stepping stone, not the goal.

>I know a guy that bought it despite not knowing any japanese.

I don't know, part of me feels like the presenter in the video actually knows the appeal of virtual girls, but is just not allowed to speak openly about it in order not to be ostracized.

Maybe he was the one who bought the cylinder and later went home to tell his waifu how many normies he had to deal with at the conference.
