Basically its codespeak for HDMI 2.1. This is nothing more than gimmick marketing at it's finest. They are trying to do this "its better or like PC" marketing. They should focus on 60fps performance and more on HDR color effects than this gimmick resolution stuff. They will always be outpaced and exposed for their lies.

Switch is going to need the pro version to be able to port PS5 games of this era though. Switch can do well and its close to a PS4 in Graphics etc but it is behind and lagging. Still good of a purchase regardless.

What a fucking retard. PS3 allowed you at one point to play PS2 games, and at the same time the library of PS2 compatible Digital games was huge. I played SMT Nocturne, Persona 3 FES, Digital Devil Saga, and Katamari 1 and 2 on it. While On the PS4 they were going to focus on PS2 backwards compatible games and/or perhaps was working on enhanced ports of it. But nothing happened. PS3 had FAR better games, FAR better library than the PS4 had. All those "exclusives" PS4 had eventually went to PC. Nier Automata, Yakuza series, Danganronpa and even Catherine Classic and even Dragon's Quest and Builders 2 came on Steam. There is no way you can tell me that a PS4 is better than a PS3 today when PS3 still has games that were not ported on PC but also had exclusives that ended up being classics. PS4 is nothing more than a no games, cinematic games console. It does not even have the SOUL of the PS2 with its huge library of weird and obscure games, and the PS3 with its variety including Japanese titles that went west(including Katamari Damacy Forever). PS3 i still have my homebrew and it blows everything out of the water despite it being a bit slower than the PS4 on bootup.

I'm still playing Wii games on my Wii U, still playing DS games on my 3DS. Does DosBox (Or any emulator for that matter) count? As for other systems, PS2 being BC with the PS1 isn't a feature that I need because I can play all my PS1 games on my PC and PSP; meanwhile the 360, PS3, and XBone all half-ass their emulation (Broken, unoptimized and broken, select titles only apply; respectively).

With framerate lag that makes anything requiring precise input damn-near unplayable (Which is also true of the PS3's PS1 emulation) and the software emulation needing to be custom tuned to each game (Which make's the PS3's PS2 emulation no better than the 360's original Xbox emulation). And, that's on top of the fact that the early $600 PS3's that were "natively" compatible with all PS2 games had the highest failure rates with the lowest lasting shelf-life (Which everyone ignores in favor of Microsoft's infamous "red rings" because no one actually bought the early PS3s).

Yes this is true and that did happen. But even then you could buy them digitally and own them. They ran well for it's time. The only thing it did not have was the QoL improvements and anything special honestly than a widescreen mode. PS4 never did update their library outside of 30 games and you still can not play the older stuff the PS3's PS2 library had in digital which is ironic in of itself. I am not going to get fooled again on this. PC is the way to go unless PS5 does something different.

There never was a promise to have the PS4 be backwards compatible.
That's was just a bunch of wishful thinking that normalfags had when it Pod Racing Revenge was leaked and revealed. The MOST that Sony promised was for the entire Playstation back-library to be playable on PS Now, which it was (And, had the same problems that Stadia was having). Actually decided to try it out on my Vita TV (when I first got it) with Bodycount, and turned the game off after 10 minutes because of how unbearable the lag was.

So far, PS4 is still the bloodborne box, and a sunk cost to justify getting previously exclusive, but not anymore games. And maybe getting upcoming games like Nioh 2.
