Where to play Yu-Gi-Oh!

For online: YGOPro Percy (for PC), YGOProES (for Android) - https://pastebin.com/m2e9Dzt1

Archive with all games playable on PC (mostly through emulation): http://pastebin.com/0SHfUYyj

Tag Force 1-6 are the best if you want a story (2006-2011, 6 has only the first 25 XYZ monsters).

Tag Force Special (2015) is the best to play for learning the game with many of the new cards.

The World Championship series (2004-2011) and Duel Academy (2006) are pretty good too. Definitely check out Dungeon Dice Monsters.

All are fun for pet/archetype non-meta decking. Legacy of the Duelist is shit.

Other Games

Cardfight!! Vanguard - https://pastebin.com/PmmjV382

Talk only about original Japanese franchises. No video game/mobile exclusive franchises and no card game spin-offs.

On the one hand, I'm happy for people that like to play decks which will be made easier to play with the Master Rule revision. On the other hand, I'm surely not looking forward to a spam of three Toadally Awesome on the first turn everywhere I go. The Link summon restriction on the Extra Deck was a compromise I was happy with to slow down some of the Extra Deck spam, and while combos have gotten longer and established increasingly oppressive board presence regardless, thanks a lot to the high number of powerful Link monsters, I feel like this will open the gates even further to players playing Solitaire and making unbreakable boards. I don't expect there will be many pre-emptive hits on the upcoming banlist, but one in the future will likely be a massacre of many decks and strategies people enjoy playing due to how many over-the-top and degenerate plays this format could introduce with the cards we have now.

MR4 has taught me that it is hopeless to expect Yugioh to not become a solitaire negation OTKfest, simply because Konami requires that kind of extreme power creep to justify people buying new cards. We thought Pendulums would be dead on arrival, and Electromite was all they needed for Magicians to be top tier for a while. They deliberately avoided banning Firewall because of the anime until it became clear its existence would require new cards to be banned too. All said and done, all MR4 did was kill Goyo Defender and render Dustons useless – every other deck adapted via generics like Borrelsword, didn't need the extra deck anyway, or were slow enough that they either weren't hampered too much or weren't gonna be usable either way.

If it's impossible to balance the game (and Konami already fucked up the "soft reboot" approach as seen with Duel Links), then fuck it. Might as well make sure people don't get their petdecks gutted in the process.

Extra deck monsters not called pendulums or links ignore most of rule 4 except for the existence of the extra monster zone and being able to be put into it from the extra.

So you can just summon the other types of extra monsters from the extra deck to main monster zones with no conditions.

That's why Yu-Gi-Oh is trying to restart from scratch with the new cards not playable in standard format. They have a new "easier to read" format and will only be useable in "Rush Duels" because the protagonist "makes up his own rules" for how to duel.

Imagine believing Yu-Gi-Oh! post Upper Deck split and post downfall of Konami holds any value.

It's become an endless marketing cycle of the same tired special summon spam, floodgates, and turn ending negations. Each new meta deck is exactly the same as before with a new coat of paint, and there is little to no interaction with your opponent. The escalation of Quick effects during Arc-V and beyond was their unnecessary excuse for "more player interaction" but ironically it caused the opposite. It's almost as if the people designing the new cards have the mindset of repurposed video game developers (Konami refugees), as this increasingly convoluted mess of a modern game fits much better in a digital format than in real life tabletop play.

You even got strung along with VRAINS hoping for your Link 1's and 2's to solve archetype problems and now they are just resetting the game again anyway.

That's not even mentioning the discrepancy between OCG and TCG. The OCG being the original game with higher quality products, events, ban lists, and support in general. TCG products are much cheaper quality with thin cardboard and foils that have been warping out of the packs for several years now, especially from all-foil mini sets. Even their shitty 3 year long spin-off cartoons (commercials) have no relevance in the West anymore, which lets 4Kids (4KMedia, yes they still exist) get away with even worse edits and dubs year after year for their limited releases.

Yu-Gi-Oh! proper is over and has been for a long time. This isn't what Kazuki Takahashi ever had in mind, and as such has even distanced himself from Konami's mess with the exception of some artwork deals over the years.

Never forget that Konami is a company focused on gambling products, and the only reason Konami keeps Yu-Gi-Oh! going is because it still targets kids and otaku in Japan, and addicts in the West. It's a game where victories and losses literally mean nothing, and the only winning move is not to play. If you really enjoy this old franchise, just grab the original comics and pray that one day Konami sells it off to a better company.

All he had in mind was a crappy one off rip off of Magic The Gathering. Yu-Gi-Oh's foundationnis fundamentally broken because it's original "rules" were contrived by a mangaka, not anyone actually trying to design a game.

Not at all actually, why do you think the two Yugioh card games had such varied rules exactly?

The manga yugioh basically had no rules is why, thats why early anime and "season 0" have nonsensical duels.

It was closer to card D&D than magic.

May as well actually state this directly; neither bandai Yugioh or Konami Yugioh were effected by the mangas rules, their foundations were basically totally unique products.

Stating their origin point doesn't actually explain why Konami decided to power creep the game into oblivion and force gimmicks for years at a time. Those are totally unrelated to it being based on something kinda dumb.

I have never paid money for cards and there were plenty of decks I enjoyed playing pre-Vrains. As far as "player interactivity" it has always been a negation/destruction or an attack increase/decrease. Not sure what you want. Sometimes interaction comes from simple strategy. Playing cards based on game knowledge so you force the opponent to play around them or the alternative when because of game knowledge you assume what the opponent might have and try to play around it.

Vanguard is plenty fun, even though arguable it has less player interaction, but at the same time player interaction comes from surprising parts of the game, such as defense and RG attacking. In YGO it is not that the player interaction has changed that much, it might even have more of it than before with having to negate a summon or whatever at the proper timings more than ever. It is just that in-between there is many more cards activating that actually ends up being a lot of "Can I, or do you negate here?" so in a sense you might be talking to the opponent a lot more than than before. That said I play online and on Percy, so I don't talk to people and don't like to. The Western YGO playerbase is cancer. I actually have started playing Vanguard irl and the players are mostly chill and nice people. Meanwhile you hear the literal children playing YGO screaming and the neckbeards laughing over some dumb-ass shit.

>>16806186

All games are basically power creeps. Except if don't want to play SJW the Gather where every year your old cards become useless. Meanwhile people here were bitching about Links.

>As far as "player interactivity" it has always been a negation/destruction or an attack increase/decrease.

The difference here is modern yugioh is basically forces all of that on turn 1 always. Power Creep has made decks puke out all its stuff instantly instead of giving multiple chances.

Not only that but it always does have a chance these days to be literal solitaire, which usually only happens if card games if one player bricks while the other opens above average .

>Except if don't want to play SJW the Gather

Despite what people say Magic certainly does have power creep. Rotation doesn't really do much besides making sure that old cards don't be a constant.

If they couldn't be trusted to keep MR4 era cards like Fur Hires out of a game that wasn't built for them like Duel Links, I'm not optimistic Konami will help themselves not power creeping the shit out of another "soft reboot".

Spell limiting is an interesting idea for forcing people to weigh whether they want to search and build resources or set up their board (and doesn't give an unfair advantage to normal summon decks like Yosenjus or Monarchs), but I'm worried it'd fuck decks reliant on them like Witchcrafters or Dark Magician up too harshly, or give decks like Traptrix (trap heavy) and Superheavy Samurais (no S/Ts at all) too much of an advantage. At least it'd force the limiting of Fag Blossom so I never see its stupid forehead again

I mean spell based decks these days generally don't play that much of an excess of spells on one turn. Its generally like 1-2 and grabbing quick plays for your opponents turn.

The only deck that really did that to an extreme are spellbooks.a spell limit would balance judgement haha

The thing with a spell limit is a turn limit wouldn't really achieve much on average because most decks don't play more than like two outside of pendulums.and those got nerfed again just recently so i don't see the need

What it would introduce would be a huge slowdown of the game. That Konami would exploit to sell new cards bypassing said slowdown because they can't long-term plan for their game.

>>16808700

Introduce spell combos, then ? To take your Dark Magician idea, something like

>If this card is on the Graveyard, banish it to play a Spell card targeting or requiring "Dark Magician"

It would force people to play cards inside their decks, while leaving the cards that aren't under the limitation. But again, that would require that the fuckups at Konami know their job.

>If this card is on the Graveyard, banish it to play a Spell card targeting or requiring "Dark Magician"

Certainly would force more brickings sure in archetypes, but depending on how it's enforced it'd probably either have a lot of collateral damage to spells that certainly don't deserve it, like Share The Pain or Rituals, or shift every deck into trying to mill themselves ASAP to get these spell-enablers in the grave – so Zombies and Lightsworns would find themselves in a better position than most.

I fucking love this deck.

>Doesn't take a shit load of time to set up

>It's surprisingly resourceful against a lot of things

>Easy to swarm and get key cards with Amazoness Princess and Amazoness Call

>Easy to do fusions that are stupidly broken

>They never fucking die, kill one and you not only have like 2 more but you also kill yourself

>Waifus

<The weaknesses are very hard to deal with

>You can recover very quickly, though

If only there was an actual fusion card instead of just polymerization.

I also realized that Ranked matches are far more relaxed than unranked for some reason. I find a lot of tryhards in unranked, while ranked always have guys with pretty cool cards that ultimately always lose to my amazoness.

A comprehensive banlist that entirely bans or limits every single archetype's designated free searchers and material providers, whether they be spells or monsters both, would singlehandedly solve the problem. Unilateral action.

To the Orcusts it's Harp Horror, to the Sky Strikers it's Mobilize, to Salamangreat it's Circle and/or Foxy. Don't just set them at 1 or 2, fucking nuke them. Nuke them all. Call it Pot of Greed 2: Your Cards Are Now Worthless Boogaloo.

It has to flip first and guardians aren't that scary, which is probably enough to pass it over for a full ban. Maybe at 1 or 2. Now if it had a "banish from grave to get free cards as if you should be rewarded for losing a monster that isn't a zombie" effect, then it would be prime forbidden material.

>>16815248

>using TCG banlist

That aside, I mean every single one, not just those few presently meta decks. Gum up the game by retconning a lot of cards that simply should not have ever been printed.

A vast majority of cards today are not dramatically different then many printed around 2011 to 2013, but a minority of very consistent support and combo cards make it seem that way.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean it like that. I was actually wondering what was wrong with dawn of the new era, so thanks for clarifying that, however, it's not like I ever planned to spend a penny on it. I also noticed that there are some features over there that this percy one lacks. So I'm wondering if the other version is better, ES I think.

>>16815369

>Now if it had a "banish from grave to get free cards as if you should be rewarded for losing a monster that isn't a zombie" effect

The amount of archetypes that do this is ridiculous, either this or "Activate from your hand and look for a fucking 3000+ atk monster and special summon it for no apparent reason and this monster negates any effect that would destroy it" like fucking Gladiator beasts do. If you do what you want to do, half if not more of the current meta decks would be obliterated. And that'd be glorious.

I'm able to bypass the "if sent to graveyard" effects with pic related, though. This fucking card is limited to 1 in duel links because god forbid you get to fuck those meta faggots with simple decks like this, konami needs to keep their paypigs, after all.

>A vast majority of cards today are not dramatically different then many printed around 2011 to 2013

Would you consider Amazoness Empress too OP? You still need polymerization, but the requirements are stupidly easy to get in the archetype, specially with amazoness princess and baby tiger, I think that support for old cards sometimes gets out of hands, like Harpie's Pet Ghost Dragon and so on.

imagine being so full of shit that you design a bunch of cards, release them to the market, and then you forbid the players from using them because they're too OP or some shit.

0e4013  No.16815764

>>16815704

Amazoness Empress requires material to summon and that effect is conditional, so she could probably be safe at 1-2 without being able to accelerate matches too much. As an actual boss monster, it gets some leeway.

Amazoness Princess, on the other hand, is an instant 0. That card searches twice at the price of a special summon and graveyard loading, which is already hardly a punishment.

>>16815705

No, the full of shit part is that they don't ban them because they're too OP, which means you have no choice but to buy them, because they make all your old cards obsolete

they have set fucking solemn warning to 3 with no hesitation, we're that far over the power creep horizon

>Amazoness Princess, on the other hand, is an instant 0

So you want to make my deck less fun. You may as well ban Onslaught and Village like the kikes in Duel Links.

However, the thing is, your first search is one and it's only magic/trap amazoness cards, the second search is actually OP, but it requires you to attack at the cost of losing the princess herself or even life points, on top of having to send a card to the graveyard. You can say is graveyard loading, but an Amazoness deck doesn't rely on graveyard that much except for the spy, so it's kinda pointless. Princess is vital to set up the field, and it shouldn't take too much time to do so, plus extra support. In my opinion, no ban worthy, maybe limit it to 1 or 2.

For some reason Konami also loves to ban Sowrdswoman because it can pretty much suicide to fuck people that goes 8000+ atk, which is what I did with an exodia incarnate deck.

Getting two Divas let me adjust my Water deck a little more.

Also, the Adamatia cards are crazy good, with how quickly they swarm the field and pump out Synchro monsters, especially in the Master Rule revision. I just wish more programs other than Percy would put them in so I could experiment with them more.

There's no way to get rid of Mystic Mine in an average strategy unless you go out of your way to put in cards like Cosmic Cyclone and Set Rotation, and that will only slow them down until they play another one. (Or you could play Gate Blocker lmao)

Lots of decks are making a comeback. Spyrals and heroes got huge and pot of extravagance now costs 91 bucks because decks need less Link monster filler to get their summons out on the field and playing multiple of each extra is now viable. Some pendulum decks are still roaming free despite all the nerfs especially master of Endymion, but they generally revolve around the same 10 cards with little wiggle room. Oh, and now summoning megafortress is viable for zodiac decks so they might make a spirited effort to come back too.
