3D World is the only 3d Mario that had good bosses, since they were the only bosses that actually focused on platforming. Every other game - 64, Sunshine, Galaxy/2 and Odyssey, the bosses were shit.
Pretty much everything else in 3D World was forgettable (but I'd rather take forgettable over the pile of shit that was Sunshine).

FLUDD invalidates any and all platforming challenge in the game, with the sole exception being the stages where FLUDD, the main gimmick of the game, is removed because they realized that what I'm saying is right.
The only times you will ever legitimately die in the game are by glitching through in the lilypad or pachinko games, or the FLUDDless stages if you're bad. FLUDD made the whole game fucking boring.

Game is excellent but not the best, The presentation is kind of soulless, and so are the bosses except the last, although it's presentation works for the most part.
The final Bowser fight is excellent, It makes sense that the final boss would be a platforming segment in a platforming game, I'm surprised it took them until I think 3d Land to actually do this. I'm glad that they mixed these elements into Super Mario Odyssey, having a traditional boss fight followed by a platforming segment was a great idea, it just works.
I think it's greatest success is how good of a job it does taking 2d platformer design principles into 3d, although 3d Land already did that, but nonetheless, it's good that for once someone actually tried doing this.
Multiplayer was a game changer, the game shouldn't even be playable without additional players, I'd say that's it's biggest weakness.

I don't like Super Mario 3d World since the levels are so flat. So much of it has the same elevation. While Mario 64 has my favorite movement, mario galaxy had my favorite set of levels. I've not gone through Oddysey but it looks like they have fun with the levels. It's a shame they're simplifying movement. Tbh it makes sense since they're for kids. Mario fan works like hacks or games honestly excite me the most. They have a lot of creative ideas for levels and use the already good gameplay foundation.

The higher number means they can put in moons for varying different objectives and you can skip the stuff you don't like. Also since it's Nintendo and Mario I think less moons wouldn't mean harder moons but easier moons. They're going to appeal to kids so I don't see them lowering the amount of moons and making it harder, more moons means they can throw in some harder to get ones knowing that the excess moons will still allow kids to beat the game.

Yes they are, moons are the main objective and progress gate of the game. Each kingdom has certain moons you have to collect, and you are still required to collect a certain amount per kingdom, as well. The only exception is the final kingdom, where you can just go through the final obstacle course (or skip it if you're good) and immediately fight the final boss, no arbitrary amount of moons required.

Green stars are not the main goals of stages (that would be the flag post at the end), only gate you from the final stage of each world, and you only need an arbitrary number of them, not specific ones, and not a certain number per world. Firstly, you technically don't need any specific moons for any stage in Odyssey, although you can maybe find some exceptions like Cascade which is practically an extended tutorial. Secondly, both Green Stars and Moons gate off the next world, the only difference is that Green Stars consistently send you into a level with a boss fight, while Moons only unlock a world or a boss fight. Compare that to 64 or Sunshine, or even Galaxy which are arguably less linear with their unlock structure. You seem to be confusing 3D World with Galaxy 2, because you described how Galaxy 2 works exactly.

You're being pedantic. Every kingdom has a "story" you have to do, and each stage of the story rewards you with a triple moon. You may not have to pick it up for some of them, but they're still the intended goal for doing it. My main point is that green stars in 3D World are always side objectives in a stage. They're like dragon coins in SMW. They're not at all required to beat a stage and you have to go out of your way to collect them. The fortress at the end of a world just wants you to have collected a minimum number of dragon coins. Moons, however, are the main reward for completing any primary challenge in Odyssey, like stars and sprites in 64 and Sunshine. While a significant number are optional, moons are the main driving reward of Odyssey, whereas the main driving reward of 3D World is just getting to go to the next stage.
