Yellowdog wasn't too bad, the issue more had to do with the project getting dumped and the Cell architecture having utterly shit documentation, from what I understand Retroarch on the switch is just too early to get some of the other features ported, it'll probably improve later on. Admittedly, I'm not especially familiar on the topic but if I know one thing about hacked game systems, it probably has Doom, that's good fun.

well no worries. there's an entire switch backlog i need to get caught up on. its a neat little console, aside from the stupid fucking battery life. its more powerful than the vita for sure. i hate abandoning that little thing but the scene is so small its practically dead, plus no new vidya. nobody even made an english path for catherine full body. very disappointing.
as far as doom, they apparently ported doom 1 2 and 3 to the eshop, no need to emulate.

1. Overclock Switch hardware so games run better in docked or handheld mode using sys-clk.
2. Backup and restore saved games with Checkpoint. Can find 3rd party saves online as well.
3. Install emulators to play the full library of old games instead of only what Nintendo offers.
4. Enable game cheats through Edizon to reduce tedious grind+RNG of some games like Pokemon.
5. PROTIP: TurboSnail on darkumbra forums makes "repacks" of Switch games. They're not smaller files like a repack in the traditional sense, but rather they are altered in a way that does away with higher firmware requirements so you don't have to update your Switch firmware to run them.
The neatest thing I did with my hacked Swtich was porting over my save files from the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild to the Switch version and continuing my saved game on the Switch exactly where I left off so I didn't have to start completely over. It's also very useful to be able to pirate not only games but the updates and DLC for those games.

Because ever since the Wii, I've had increasingly less of a need to even BUY the damn consoles. Last one I got is the 3DS and I just had like a whopping three games I cared about on it.

Bought an unpatched switch for relatively cheap ($180), compared to how the average ebay sale nowadays has a retard tax for around 40-50 extra dollars for old switches, it's some bullshit.
