The opposite of the other thread.
What are some objectively bad games that you still like?, maybe it's nostalgia, maybe the do one thing right, maybe they have sentimental value.
This is a thread to talk about games that you KNOW are bad, but you just enjoy them or find them fun.

Might and Magic 9 is a pretty mediocre game, but i played it when i was a kid with all the time in the world, could hardly understand anything, but playing a "sandbox" almost an immersive-sim was quite impressive for me at that age. makes me sort of sad everyone else hates it

The closest to something like that would have to be Spore. Every few years I'll get an itch to play it and get up to about the tribal stage or whatever and then uninstall it per usual. I did have fun with Saints Row IV because of the retard superpowers even though it made what the game was prior pointless.

For some reason I know these games are terrible, but I enjoy them quite a bit. They're basically games that you play for a half hour after work, have a wank, and go to bed. They're usually very quick, and are very easy to cheat through, but I enjoy playing them because they're so quick. It's like the equivalent of soda. Is it shit? Absolutely, but it's highly addictive.

The game is short (can be beaten in under 20 hours which is pitiful for an RPG), the story is simplistic and cliche, graphics suck, the gameplay offers nothing new, etc. objectively a bad game but I still like it.

I wouldn't call this game buggy or unstable. There is a bug that I encountered, being that all the NPCs are gone from the level when you load a in-level save. So I saved my progress only in safe houses. But the "janky" part definitely applies.

>Gamebreaking bugs out the ass
>Lots of mechanics made useless due to using cheese strats being far faster and more efficent
>Absolute dogshit game balancing, playing without using the cheese strats will make getting high scores (and therefore earning currency) near-impossible due to the massive score bonuses you get from completing missions quickly
>Literally half-finished due to the publisher going bankrupt mid-development and forcing the devs to tie up loose ends and ship it, fuckloads of cut missions and content
>Cant use unlocked Haunters on mission replays without a mod, so any Haunters you unlock in the late game can only be used in the last few levels
>In the original release of the game it ended before the final mission, so the last Haunter you unlock is literally unplayable
>The final mission was released later as a patch by the devs (and is now standard with the rest of the game on GoG/Steam)
I replay at least twice a year. Highly recommend it.

Final Fantasy VIII. The writing in the first half ranges from decent to intriguing, the shitty battle system is customizable and entirely breakable, and the humor is actually enjoyable. It's a middling game at best and bad at its worst, and I have a special place in my blackened heart-hole for it.
I wish Rinoa had gotten a sword in her ribcage for being such an annoying plot device; about 95% of the writing faults are due to her quite specifically. Quistis should have been the love interest.

I love this game to death. I also try to play it every year usually around Halloween but not so much anymore because everytime I get through most of it I end up getting the same game breaking glitch. It's the glitch were one of the people you need to scare will get stuck in the level geometry and makes the level unwinnable cause they can't move, it usually happens in the poultrygeist level at the bottom of the stairs but I had it happen to me last time in the police station level.

I think Trespasser falls into OP's category. I love it but it has a lot of problems.
The Bad
Apparently it ran terribly on pc's of its age. I never found that a problem because I played it much later. Its actually sort of a plus because they tried something different and ambitious, with physics before hl1. if you have even a half way decent pc / VM it will run fine.
The physics system is probably the worst part. it gave it kind of a float walking and jumping and also guns would sometimes be knocked out of your hand when you walked to close to a wall or something.
bad AI. its an old game and the ai is very limited. raptors can't go inside buildings and have pretty strange path finding.
It does looks its age but I don't really care for that sort of thing so I just turn my brain to "old fashioned" mode.
The Good
tits
no hud. guns had some amount of ammo in them and your character would say "feels, full" or "about half". it really made the survival aspect work well. you would worry if you have enough shots. more survival games should have that mechanic.

Pic related.
Great humor (for the most part), phenomenal soundtrack, glitchy as fuck but said glitches let you do some of the most ridiculous and fun shit I've seen. It's such a shame that so much of the game just got cut. I doubt if even 40% of the game actually got finished, considering how many fucking stages got cut at varying stages of completion, mostly conceptual but some fully modeled.
A bunch are listed here, but mixed in with stages from other Crash games.
https://crashbandicoot.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Cut_levels
Highlights include
>a near compete bug chase early in the game that got cut due to technical limitations (found by one of the original devs and uploaded to Jewtube)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr0kGEKeXU4
>a fully modeled stage in Coco's head
>cut third underwater dimension that you were meant to travel to (referenced by a dialogue line in game, as well as concept art)
>said third dimension was meant to have a playable Mecha Bandicoot stage and a Coco submarine level
>cut level where you play as Evil Crash and beat the shit out of a Good Cortex to make him evil

Once you look past the flaws in Far Cry 2, particularly the re-spawning guard posts, the game is comfy as fuck. Also the stealth is actually amazing because of the level design, minus 1 quirk were the AI can see through foliage.
>Spellforce
I literally cannot play any other RTS. They all feel so samey. I can tell Spellforce doesn't really bring anything to the table, but it's just so fucking comfy. It has a charm to it I don't see in other games. That being said, I have not been able to stomach the expansions. They felt like chores.

Oh Where to even begin on this topic.
>Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z
Clearly a huge step down in terms of quality, Ninja Gaiden is already better then God of War, yet Yaiba is a mediocre God of War rip off. Still I enjoyed Yaiba and Ms Monday's characters as a change of pace to the series, NG characters are pretty one note and serious, probably due to the fact that the stories in NG 1 and 2 aren't all that important just window dressing for the action, Yet Y:NGZ has main characters who are just unapologetic selfish sarcastic assholes. If anything the games lower quality fits Yaiba as a character perfectly since He thinks he's better then Ryu when he clearly isn't.
>Umbrella Corps
Multiplayer has Only matchmaking between two groups of modes, yet no way to tell how many players are searching for a game in either of them, and no text chat. so your simply left waiting searching for a game in a void of nothingness for god knows how long before getting into a game. This was when the game was just in a humble bundle for a dollar by the way. But by some miracle when I was actually in a lobby with people who knew how to play decently I found it pretty fun. I really dug the tacticalcool style of a game about playing as umbrella mercenaries, and the brainer is a pretty cool weapon. it was also quite the adventure dedicating 2 weeks to constantly grinding out the game since I was fully aware that the small surge of players caused by the bundle was going to dry up at literally any moment. Needing to actively decided when to kill and when to let level 1 players kill me to have matches actually finish, since If I curb stomped them all they would quit and I'd be fucked.
>Shadow the Hedgehog
The biggest flaw with the Shadow game is how it handles finding objectives, basically you just have to search every level top to bottom beginning to end over and over again, until you just have everything memorized, since the game will not give you clear indication on what areas of a level you should actually be looking for anything if you missed it the first time through. That being said I'v played the game so many times since it came out that memorization is no longer a problem.
eagerly awaiting the fan PC remake of Sonic 06
>Devil May Cry 2
Basically I just love Devil May Cry a whole fucking lot, so that extends to DMC2 (but not DmC), I appreciate what the game does right, while the level design isn't anywhere close to how good DMC1's is. I still think DMC2 has pretty good atmosphere, I dig the deserted city environments since it feels like somewhere a modern day Demon hunter would actually need to go. Also DMC2 had a fuck ton about it game mechanics that is pretty much unknown due to how little people play the game, so it was cool for me to learn about how it all functions. As far as I know my steam guide on DMC2 is the only thing in English that goes into this much detail about the game.

I am nothing if not persistent. I had already beaten Ninja Gaiden 2 on Master Ninja so Yaiba wasn't really that much more trouble, while yes on the Harder modes you basically die in one hit, checkpoint are frequent enough that I just kept going at it until I could no damage the fights. The parry system ended up being pretty useful too once I got the janky timing down. Ryu will one shot you in the first 2 seconds of his boss fight if you can't parry him.

Warship Gunner 1/2, the game has one decent gimmick (ship building) but is hampered at every single turn by stupid decisions or potato hardware
Still have fun wrecking everything with framerate destroying volleys of rapid fire 88mm / large volleys of 100cm shells
Onechanbara / SG/ZH, I mean it's really just the most barebones of their respective genre but even wih all the jank and the incredibly frustrating timing combo system in the PS2 games (especially the first one requiring you to get a perfect 25 hit one in every level) it's still pretty fun to play through and not necessarily just for the eyecandy either.

"Like" is a bit too strong word here but I'm fascinated by Batman & Robin for PS1. Basic idea is that Mr Freeze and his minions are on the move and about to commit diamond heists and whatnot. However, you don't know when and where, so what you do is you drive around Gotham collecting clues, then go back to the batcave to examine the clues with your batcomputer. Once you've collected and examined enough clues you've hopefully figured our the time and place of the next crime. Then you go there and stop the baddies.
Crimes happen at fixed intervals and you can skip time forward. So let's say the game start at 9:00. At 9:20 you've figured out that Mr Freeze will try to steal diamonds at the local museum at 10:00. So you drive to the museum, skip time forward to 10:00 and this triggers the diamond heist.
Sounds like a fun concept to me and feels like it's ahead of its time. 3D open world game for PS1. Too bad the game is so bad it's a meme basically. I'd recommend playing this only for research purposes. It's a fascinating pile of dung.

basically where all the laid off massive devs ended up after they fucked up division 1. somehow looks worse than wildlands and technical bugs out the ass (to the point they had to remove the battle pass and give everyone the rewards). there are still areas in the game that will crash your game just for entering.
I don't even mind that they turned it into destiny: operator edition, but you still have helis fucking everywhere and everything's dumped down for ADHD fortnite kids. why is exploration mode not the default if that's apparently the best way to experience the game (which it is)?

Is that why Division 2 is "good"?
I keep getting recomendations to play it, saying it's much improved over the first one.
Did they move all the incompetent fuckers to some B team and unfucked themselves?
Sucks for the Ghost series. I only played two of those a bunch of years ago, but I imagine long standing fans being quite disapointed with the latter ones.

I kinda get the point of the dev's though.
Playing devil's advocate here: imagine you and your team make X game, it sells really well. You make Y game that's pretty much 80% X and 20% new stuff, and people also like it.
Then you make game Z, that' is 75% X, 20% Y and 5%: you took a few things from X that didn't work this time around.
You get a lot of people criticizing you for it, sales drop, and when the next dev cycle hits, you're back at "Alright, it needs EVERYTHING X had, and everything Y had, and if we try anything new, it can't get in the way of those!"
Now imagine that besides a good chunk of your team having this mindset, the Suits get some market research done and reinforce it by contractually obligating you to do it.
Some dev's get stuck into a niche, and they can either do something new that sells like crap, or keep doing their niche and keep their jobs.
Case inpoint: remember when Call of Duty tried to be fast and movement focused? Even tried adding double jumps and jetpacks? Sold like shit. Next few one's were so "back to what the fans liked" that they even remade MW4 (the series fan-favourite).

ironically the breakpoint AI is fine all things considered, least this time you can go operator without the whole base knowing exactly where you are the second you look in the wrong direction.
>>16790826
technically div2 is fine and the shooting etc itself is better than 1. where it falls flat on it's face is the loot aspect, because they had to revamp it and completely blow it, it's now a fucking destiny clone where the whole build is based on the one exotic gun/gear you can use.
speaking of builds, there are none. you have the choice between killing with a gun or OP skill builds everyone else is running. the specialization gimmick is almost completely pointless because it takes time to get it ready (meaning you do no damage) and is highly limited in ammo. in most cases it makes more sense to just keep shooting.
fucking breakpoint has more diverse and distinctive roles.
>I keep getting recomendations to play it
it's pretty cheap these days and almost worth it for a single playthrough, which will take a few hours (but then I'm a bit biased because I like the setting etc). dlc is free so might as well get the standard edition. season pass only has some extra short missions, which are great for what they are and the puzzles they have, but not really worth the season pass alone. no idea if you can share it with someone who has it.

still exists, but those usually get limited funding "as an experiment" and/or need to find their footing if they try something new, which means on release they get immediately shit on hard for not being as polished or exactly like game X - and if you don't score #1 everywhere the game is considered a flop and every funding that might improve the game gets cut in the process.
>>16790835
>Some dev's get stuck into a niche, and they can either do something new that sells like crap, or keep doing their niche and keep their jobs.
not every game is cod tho. take breakpoint for example, the core of a good GR game is still in there. where they fucked it was trying to please everyone, even more so when they dumbed down wildlands. fast travel everywhere. overload of markers because fuck reading a map or triangulating a point even with get clear directions. nonsensical loadout limitations because can't have people rolling up to a mission and then notice they have the "wrong" items. difficulty settings make zero difference besides making the game more tedious (there's no reward for the higher risk). and that's the default, not something plebs have to enable specifically. can't have another wolfenstein situation where journos get triggered when the game outright mocks you for playing on easy mode.
which ironically is the fastest way to make a product people forget about it immediately. whatever you think about dark souls, it didn't cave to retards and still gets revered for it.
>Case inpoint: remember when Call of Duty tried to be fast and movement focused? Even tried adding double jumps and jetpacks? Sold like shit. Next few one's were so "back to what the fans liked" that they even remade MW4 (the series fan-favourite).
blame titanfall. which was a fucking great game but still underperformed. makes sense for cod devs to incorporate that, since it has a lot of fans.
problem in that case was more codtards are called codtards for a reason (still salty IW bombing means no more IW games).

cheap and easy content. wow proved you can have millions of retards giving you billions for perpetually chasing a higher number. who needs content if people are willing to run the same mission over and over for that 5% chance of loot?
and when people grind your shit forever you can try to sell them shit for the whole duration. if they drop a game after one playthrough or a few weeks the chance of buying more shit is pretty slim.
it's basically the new "every game needs multiplayer".
which then defeats itself when everything wants you to grind every day and the day only has 24h (much less if you're not a neet). one of the reasons I fucking hate christmas events.

Almost every visual aspect is better than Wildlands. Wildlands had a more diverse map, but Breakpoint has some really great environments and architecture. I haven't had any crashes personally, but it did have a shitload of bugs for a month on release. I do wish they'd do away with ez helicopters though. With helis and fast travel there are barely ever reasons to drive and actually be on the ground in the environment.

animations are worse, the male model behaves like it shat it's pants. it's so bad the running animation gives me andromeda flashbacks. and animations are usually ubisoft's strong suit.
there's also something off about the shaders or post-processing, it's less "crisp" and feels downgraded, I can't really pinpoint it.
map itself is fine and all, although it being an occupied island it doesn't have the same vibe as bolivia (don't really mind it tho).
as for crashes, try to get into silent mountain or fly higher than 1200 feet (mostly affects amd, but some nvidia as well). the removed character from the last battle pass season crashed it for everyone iirc since the model itself was fucked, one of the reasons they haven't given it out with the rest yet.
>I do wish they'd do away with ez helicopters though. With helis and fast travel there are barely ever reasons to drive and actually be on the ground in the environment.
this. it's like no one learned a lesson from wow's flying mounts.
and when they make the game more "realistic" (as they've announced) they probably gonna pair it with permadeath again. can't wait to lose my save because the game teleported me over the ocean after the bivouac cutscene again or getting stuck in the terrain leaving a vehicle.

I do miss the overall SA cowboy vibe of Bolivia. Animations I can see some issues with once in a while, they were really bad in beta and release. The whole fuckin game is just such a shitfest of design decisions it's amazing that it's still playable. People at one point called it "monetized to the gills", but the monetization could be completely ignored by not going to that tab on pause. One out of like 12 tabs on the menu because there are so many goddamn disparate systems vying for relevance.
The story also has no real impact (though that's not very different from Wildlands)- I have no real idea why I'm doing things half the time because I've got three random missions pinned and fuckloads more visible. I don't know who I am, I don't know where I am, all I know is I must murder.

story is wtf is going on with walker/skell and how to get off the island. haven't really played much of the story and mainly grinded faction missions, which is explained in the npc dialogs and through some of the missions you can repeat. but yeah, the faction stuff is really weirdly paced - and temporary, fuck that shit.
also heard the story isn't even over yet and will be concluded as part of their "live service". still a bit excited about the terminator crossover tho, that was usually some fun shit (even if it was hit or miss like the predator event).
usually animations are the least thing I notice, but somehow they trigger me hard in breakpoint. my assumption is they animated the running by hand or interpolated it from the mo-cap shoddily (it's based on the waist, so it has no real weight and sprinting is overly sped up so it looks like you're flailing on a stick in your ass), and since you run a lot…
as for monetization I don't mind that much either since all it has is boosts and cosmetics. giving one half away as reward and have the other half in the store (like on of the ghillie suits) is kind of a middle finger tho. oh, and faction missions had caps for some reason.
ubisoft in general seems to be itching for money, the whole vivendi thing and 2019 wasn't a good year. they went full EA nerfing the cosmetic events in div2 so people buy their keys instead of grinding. bit worried how it will affect their games, because usually they spend a shitload on post-launch support (instead of dropping the game outright).

Disciples 2 isn't that good to begin with, although I still love the game.
Magic between factions is not balanced - humans and dwarves having god tier magic, and demons/undead having trash. Same applies to units as well - having straight bad abilities, or not being able to scale well with the levels. Enemy AI is more like a nuisance than the actual threat.
Some of the artifacts found are just junk and serve little purpose in the game.
Still, game is pleasant to look at (but runs like shit). And leveling up the crew still is kinda interesting

Visually, Div2 isn't a bad game. In fact, I think the visuals are goddamn great. Gameplay is average, but wrought with bullshit and AI cheating like pinpoint accuracy, grenade throws being hyper accurate, unbalanced weapons, and other sins. Also a bit grindy with little build diversity and a clunky UI system.
But I really like its tacticool customization options and some of the 'dungeons' like the FEMA bunker and the overall 'viral post apocalypse' aesthetic.
I think the game is mostly dead and Ubi said it didn't make as much as they wanted didn't bomb, though, but I still go back and play it every so often.

to get back on topic, played pic related last month due to a free EA game pass… and the game is actually quite fun. classes play distinctively different, there's a good amount of build depth (of which div2 has nothing), the ironman gameplay is fun as fuck, guns feel like they have oomph and sound like it. even the loot aspect isn't complete cancer. that part of the game is actually damn good, and the few flaws still existing are not a dealbreaker (still room for improvement tho)
>story
it's a bioware game, 50% if the population are gay (not exaggerating), it's not earth yet you have almost no whites, mystery meat everywhere while there are still asians, irish and gay german fashion designers with their own accent running around. literally half the cast is some stereotype or another (one asian is a bubbly princess, the other is literally autistic, your ex-mentor is a maori or samoan full with tattoos of course), and the dialogs itself - which play out like a VN - sound like marvel writers jizzed into a microphone to the point it's almost uncanny.
otoh lore and everything else is interesting enough that I'd like to know more, which was probably due to karpyshyn laying the groundwork before fucking off again.
unironically hope EA reboots it so there's at least a chance for more content. as big as the map is at some point you've seen everything. covering it in snow hardly makes a difference (and only makes it look worse because everything is different shades of grey now).

Certainly not badly made, but the term "fundamentally flawed" is probably more correct.
Have been knowing about its problems since before I got it recently, but it appeals to a certain niche of autism that no other modern game outside of scam citizen fills.
The game's main problem is that there isn't much to do outside of grinding for the next ship which I just skipped by grinding Void Opals and getting the Anaconda plus Trader Elite rank within 5 days of buying the game.
It desperately needs worthwhile ways to invest time and money in other things while lowering the overall grind since Void Opals are really the only viable income source.
Allowing later midgame players to claim an unpopulated system for themselves or their squadron and managing it would be interesting for example. Would be a good opportunity to integrate squadron wars

At this point I feel as if I have no choice but to take some kind of pride in doing my best to enjoying shit that the consensus says shouldn't be enjoyed.
I ended up making those 5 I picked relate to each other, but I also beat Superman 64, and got all the achievements in Superman Returns for no particular reason recently.
it was funny and fascinating to see that the devs clearly didn't think about one achievement in Returns called Frequent Flyer. You have to fly for 10,000 Miles. That is form Australia to London it take pretty much 10 hours of non stop flying at max speed in circles to get it. The game doesn't have anywhere near enough content to justify traveling that much you'll get 100% before you even hit 1,000 miles. So I rubber banded the sticks and the fly button down, then played Blood Omen 1 while that was going on.
Super Man 64 was just something I felt like seeing though since I actually played it allot as a kid, but never got to the end, I actually really good at flying though the rings so I don't mind it at all, but even if 64 is a really flawed game, It has a level were you just fucking Pick up Darkside like a goddamn sack of potatoes and fly his ass to some police, so they can put him in jail I guess. It was hilarious and made my day.

to be fair it's a rare thread where you can talk about games like that without getting drowned in memespouting faggotry by people that never played them to begin with (even more surprised none of them has shown up yet).
rather give games that look interesting a try myself than depend on someone's opinion. like >>16792229 said there are plenty of "shit" games that are enjoyable, tbh I got more fond memories from games /v/ and other retards shat on relentlessly than the the latest AAA or indie drivel.
as for anthem, completely forgot that video. going full retard with NPCs isn't necessarily bad and could possibly lead to better characterization, but then it's still bioware. least it's not as supercringe as borderlands (not even battleborn was that bad) and then only during dialogs. most of the time you're just flying around blowing shit up, and that part's pretty solid.

There's nearly 20 diferent 4um tier threads on the catalog. I'd say those retards are busy with themselves.
And I hear you about NPC's. People simple heard "Bioware" and assumed there was gonna be romance, Loyalty missions and party-building. Because that was Bioware's schtick for nearly every game they did.
However, when you're making what amounts to a sharded MMO (I know there's more to it, don't worry), your NPC's are relagated to some cutscenes and some minor exposition.
I'd have tried it, but since I can't pirate it and I didn't want to fund it's post-launch development (that should have been done before launching) I didn't get it either.
Shame. I like Warframe, and this could be an alternative to that whenever I get tired of grinding. I'll give you that the flying part looks really good.
>not as supercringe as borderlands
God, don't even start. I suspected pirating that thing would be a terrible choice. Found a friend that was dumb enough to buy it and I visited him to give it a go. I hear that the start is more bearable and it gets worse as you go, but his save was 3 quarters of the way done, so I got to see the worst part with the certainty that it would only go downhill from there if that was possible. Not even gonna seed it. I know it would boost my ratio on some private trackers, but the way I see it, the less people seed it, the less play it, so I'm saving some poor souls the torture of playing it.
BL2 had terrible writing, but not so bad you wanted to kill yourself. I'm not sure how they managed it, especially with Burch gone.

you could easily do that, that's usually the main thing that happens in most VNs (and that's basically what anthem's dialogs are). not sure who'd want to romance a twink barkeep with the voice of fix-it felix, but I don't judge.
my assumption is that development was such a mess that some of it was probably in there but got cut. I mean banging aliens and shit was bioware's main shtick for years and what was made their tumblr audience buy their games.
>I'd have tried it, but since I can't pirate it and I didn't want to fund it's post-launch development (that should have been done before launching) I didn't get it either.

while I'd agree for singleplayer stuff, I can accept it for online "live service" shit since you can plug possible holes and go in directions that extend longevity, so I don't really mind it.
never got into warframe much since I'm not a fan of grinding for grinding's sake, only reason I do it in anthem is because it's done in a way that's somewhat fair (they were smart enough to only have ranges on the bonus, not the the stats itself) and easy to get another pull on the slot machine.
if it ever goes f2p (or you see it for cheap) I'd say check it out, but knowing EA there's a good chance they fuck that up too
reminds me to look into who took over, because I can't believe those retards at edmonton were able to turn the game around to that degree.

The weapon balancing is shit, it has the Hotline Miami 2 problem where enemies can shoot you from off-screen, compared to Postal 1 the weapon variety is severely lacking, some levels are terribly designed, the spawn system is so broken that it sometimes spawns you right into enemy fire or in front of a car, there's no score system or anything so the game has very little replay value and cinematic finishers are also broken, so much so that there's an option to disable them called "Safe Executions" that I had to enable after I'd gotten softlocked during an execution 3 times in a row. But the dialogue is absolutely hilarious and the environmental destruction is fantastic. It's one of those games that would greatly benefit from a sequel.

>S4 League, clone of Gunz without K.S., another F2P cancer full of high ping and cheaters, but the soundtrack and design style was too great
>Gunz 2, another Gunz clone, worst netcode possible in a game, 80% of matches crashed(if any player disconnects, the match crashes plus random crashes before a match even begins) + boring PvE but still had wallrunning and other Gunz features

Yeah, I really wanted to like the game, but the basic gameplay is a lot of grinding. For a while I looked into the mechanics of changing a station’s controlling faction, but besides being really grindy, it’s almost designed to prevent a solo player from going in and affecting any given station’s power structure. I wanted to make one station in one system into my personal pet project for a while, shifting a minor faction into the controlling faction, but with the time controlled system states and the extremely slow influence any solo player has, it was just not feasible.

The console version of Ghost Master, "The Gravenville Chronicles" is a completely different game from the PC version, it just re-used the assets.
Its also dogshit.
The original Ghost Master is a janky unfinished mess, but its still entertaining and interesting.
It had potential to be a masterpiece if it had an actual budget and was finished.
Ghost Master : The Gravenville Chronicles is just straight up trash.

There was a time when I was a massive dota addict. You can tell the game was originally a dumb mod just to fuck around in. The heroes and abilities are so fucking stupid and overpowered I would just fuck around all day with fun shit I thought of. I don't think I've seen any other game with so much stupid shit that one class is micro's an army, another class has to cough up key combinations to create overpowered spells that combo into eachother, another class can swap his health with anyone at no manacost, etc. Thank god valve neutered most of the abilities or I'd still be addicted today.

I, too, was a MASSIVE Dota fan (Since the pre-alpha times at least) and absolutely loved the game. Then they added cosmetics. I still played after that, I but I saw what TF2 went through and I knew they'd fuck it up somehow, and the cosmetics would start detracting from the game. They started with that shitty Ursa yodeler cosmetic set which fortunately they took off the store (and I made a bundle off of it) but they did a complete 180 and went back to their shitty ways of cosmetic sets that don't fit.
But you know what I said? I said alright, if it's just cosmetics that don't effect gameplay, I'll be fine. Then they kept releasing uninspired hero designs and later uninspired new heroes, like Monkey King and the fucking fairy and fucking japanese oni thing. The designs were clearly pandering to China with their LoL-esque looks. More like cartoons instead of their own original designs which allowed for character depth and such.
But you know what? I kept playing. Kept playing at least until they switched out stats and replaced it with horribly balanced shitty fucking "talents", and also - this is the most important part - made every game that much more similar if you were playing the same character. You couldn't go Medusa with full stats + shield and jungle. You were stuck and forced to level two skills at once. This was Valve's way of putting players on a track with safeties at either side, with no room for variation. Probably because variation is harder to balance. My ass. Anyway, that's when I left. I also noticed how they were making games shorter by giving you literally shit tons of gold - especially supports. You know, the class that isn't really supposed to have much gold to go around outside of wards, courier, dust, etc. They made bounty runes, and then they made bounty runes show up every fucking minute, and they made you get gold for simply stacking camps. And those fucking tomes. Holy shit.
Anyway, I am brought much sorrow seeing the state of the game. I won't even broach on the special $30+ cosmetics which are of limited availability and the gay ass Dota + or whatever it's called that actually works as a fucking subscription just for useless shit that was previously available
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

They kind of completely changed that with the latest patch though, now every game is completely different because a large portion of items simply aren't obtainable every game. Now you don't have to worry about it being the same every time.

I don't really have strong feelings about the game in it's current state but I've yet to understand the argument that stats are more complex than skill trees. I will say yes some skill trees are terribly balanced, but I don't see how stats could be more complex than a binary choice.

Enclave
It's not nearly as bad as Topware's other game, Two Worlds, but it is some of the most Eurojank clunky fantasy I've ever witnessed.
HOWEVER, it has one saving grace of a game mechanic, and it's most likely one made from pure convenience or laziness.
So you have 2 campaigns, one good, one evil. You go to all the same levels and fight the same bosses at times. But there's this really bizarre deja vu built into the story where you fight yourself ALL the time. By that I mean you will be playing a level in the evil campaign and fight the character you played in the good campaign in that specific area.
So for instance the first level of the good campaign you play a knight who breaks out of jail in a castle and you make it to the bell tower at one point and this orc starts ringing the bell and throwing bombs at you, you fight him, and you kill him. In the evil campaign about 5 levels in you get the orc bombardier and your mission involves breaking into that castle and at one point you ring the bell in the tower and this knight comes in and yells at you and you kill him. This happens in every level, multiple times a level, and it gives you a reason to complete the campaigns multiple times because you see everything from different angles.
Speaking of different angles, the female characters are hot as fuck and the game lets you look right up their buttholes like so many delicious eastern European whores.
So yeah, personal favorite of mine.

What's this about items not being obtainable? Sounds awful
And stats are more complex than skill trees cause skill trees are only once every 5 levels and are usually very useless until the level 25 talent, whereas stats are every other level usually and they can dramatically change your early game by an order of magnitude. Talents are just yet another way for Valve to force games to be over with quicker, likening it to LoL which normalfags love since they can play one full (20 minute) game and go back to other shit for their small and ADHD-ridden minds.

>And stats are more complex than skill trees cause skill trees are only once every 5 levels and are usually very useless until the level 25 talent
Useless compared to what? Leveling attributes? Previous to talents by level 10 assuming you went stats whenever you possibly could you could gain +10 in Strength, Agility and Intelligence. Plenty of talents trees at level 10 have comparable choices as a choice between one set of stats over the other. Take Kunka for example who can get 6 armor (he would need 36 Agility to get the same amount from raw stats) or 40 attack (he would need 40 strength to get this). These options are comparatively more useless than +10 to all attributes?
Again, I don't like the current state of Dota, and think that most talents are extremely one sided, but to argue pure stats was a more complicated choice the game more depth doesn't make sense comparatively to me.
>What's this about items not being obtainable? Sounds awful
There are now "Neutral Items", they have 5 tiers, and, as the name implies, are dropped by neutrals. There's like 10ish items per a tier and their time gated for when they drop, but only 3 items per a tier and the rest won't drop. This means that only 15 out of 50(ish) Neutral Items max can be in a given game of Dota.

They added something from back when it was a mod made just for fun and this not only made it further from the mod but competitive? If anything Neutral items seem blatantly uncompetitive since Neutral items are worse RNG than power up runes.

When I said "Valve decided to go full "Muh competitive"" that was not about this change in particular, but the majority of their changes. I haven't played the patch, but if I had to guess it's to force teamwork and further prolong matches for tournaments (something they've been doing a lot):
>Team has to play closer together to get items to eachother
>Supports now get items for free, so they are a bigger threat even if they have no money from doing a shit job of ganking
>If a team is completely shut out by a superior force they're still in the game because they can get free items

Support is unironically the most fun role. The reason people don't like it is because they babysit. They don't know how to buy smokes and rape people. You could end the game in the first 10 minutes as support just by crushing the enemy teams morale. It's probably not as relevant today though with all the gold and crap they added to the game.

This. Neutral items only make strong teams stronger, even if they don’t necessarily have the merits of a strong team. Makes mid-game more annoying if you dont keep constant watch on your jungle. Before, the danger of the jungle was that you could get ganked in or from the jungle while in lane, meaning you only really had to have an escape option and you’d be relatively safe. Now you need to keep watch over your own (and maybe the other team’s) jungle in addition. You could argue that, with supports having more gold opportunities, they can handle that, but observer ward cooldown hasnt changed, has it? Also puts an emphasis on having a jungler or at least having some kind of roamer no matter the team. They were optional before but now its almost required

>Phoned-it-in tier voice acting
>Quite possibly the jankiest control scheme of any ARPG I've touched: Hitting a hotkey just makes an ability your "active" one, while actually using it requires you to right-click
>Buggy to fuck and back, thank God there's a good zone teleport system in place, I got stuck in walls several times during
>You have to beat the game 3 times over to get the "true" ending
>Despite being a hack and slash, you go a few levels without getting any abilities that can hit multiple enemies
>All restorative potions are based on percentile rather than static number: So for example, a health potion heals 40% health over the course of a few seconds. Despite this, the potions never scale in price, so by midgame, you can just buy a fuckton of them and just spam them while ramming into hordes of enemies
>Speaking of hordes of enemies, only a certain number can flank you at once, so many larger packs of enemies will just sort of idle until they can actually reach you
Yet, in spite of everything, there's something oddly satisfying about blazing through packs of enemies, that in some cases works because of the jank.
