If anything, they have ruined the experience. When you're aware there's a sexual content in the game, something more than a platonic romance with a NPC like animations or descriptions of sex, your brain focuses on it and tries to attain it as soon as possible to reward itself with a dopamine spike, dismissing every other gameplay feature. And after you wank off, once or several times, the dopamine high and the novelty wears off and you're no longer interested in playing the game at all.
Romances are also retarded, at least most of them, because people can't write them well. But at least they're not the main point of the story, only some additional content for those interested/desperate/whatever.

I guess it comes down to whether A) the base game can hold your attention without it, and B) the lewd is actually integrated in a sensible way rather than being a distraction. Dedicated H-games usually fuckup the former, sex mods for non-sex games usually fuckup the latter. That's because in category (a) the majority of porn games are just visual novels, or adventure game with babby difficulty made in rpgmaker. Also there's a 'but why' angle to making the game difficulty engaging, people are playing a porn game to jerk off, if they wanted to have fun they would of played a normal game. The game is basically set in a perfect world where nobody is concerned with the prosaic issues such as stress, depression, poverty, mental or physical health, addictions and toxic people. Everyone is idealized, life is idyllic and devoid of problems except of sims who become "sad" because some of their primal needs aren't fulfilled. And that's the appeal of it - nobody wants to play a game where life is portrayed as miserable and difficult as it really is.
The previous anon was right, it's a kid's game who can't see or didn't experience it yet, and have just more powerful imaginations than grown people. If you're not a kid, the only other way to play it is to make gimmicky, meme characters and do not treat it seriously. Like, import Garfield or Donkey Kong custom models, build a treehouse and troll your neighbors.

It depends on how well sex and gameplay are merged. Nude models and some sex poses doesn't make Oblivion into a proper sex game, but depending on your fetishes and gameplay preferences you can play something like Free Cities and have both sex and gameplay just fine. That's just one example, and I fully expect people to alternately say it's not much of a game or it's barely even porn.
A good one for modding is The Sims. Sex mods merge well with the main gameplay, so if you "just load it up to wank a couple times" you are basically playing the game as intended, and there's a good chance you'll get sucked in for more of the same. Theoretically the same sort of thing could be done with games like Oblivion, but it would require EXTENSIVE modding that I don't think anyone has ever done. The key is in making sex an inextricable core gameplay element rather than simply (at best) a reward for gameplay.

Your thought process was headed in the right direction, but you stopped a few feet short of what's actually going on. This is what happens when you play games you don't want to actually play. For as much as Skyrim and Fallout 4 really fuckin' suck, an embarrassing amount of us here have probably turned one of them into 3D Violated Heroine at some point. We'll rub one out and quit the game, but it's not because the porn ruins the experience. It's because the Bethesda game experience is the bottom of the barrel. You can play Rimworld with sex mods, enslave some attractive raiders, confine them to sex suites in the center of your base, and still actually play the game. You can't have wanton sex in Skyrim and continue playing, because the game barely exists. Common hentai games have more gameplay than Skyrim.

You're making a good point as well, but Rimworld and 3D games like Skyrim are completely different, in every aspect. In rimworld the people are rectangular blocks with circular heads sliding around on a flat map with objects, where Skyrim tries to emulate a 3D "reality". With graphical mods and porn animations, it turns into an interactive porn movie. In modded rimworld the sexual act is in your imagination (vanilla "sex" is in the base game to begin with), and the mods add the non-con aspect if that's what you're into, and the management aspect of sexual slavery.

I got BPD. If I wanted to fix it "properly", I'd be looking at 3 years in therapy (with 3-4 visits to the shrink per month) for, get this: a 50% chance of Remission. Not even actually fixing, the current "treatment" results are just that bad: about half of the people that take it indicate remission of the symptoms, aka: they can come back at any point a few years later.
Where I live, that's nearly 2700€ investment, 3 years of commitment for a piss poor chance at a piss poor result.
Excuse me if I chose to spend that money on booze instead, but since I don't actually have an alchool dependency (I get drunk twice a month) I'll keep doing it and "overcoming" my own "worthlessness and depression" with some chemical help.
Other people have diferent reasons and causes to end up on a situation similar to that. I simply employed a more flowery and faggy description of it to transmit to someone who doesn't experience an idea of what it's like.
Your personal attacks and "tough guy" rotine don't bother me, and won't bother anyone in a similar situation.

Know it can be worse. You could be someone with so low energy that all menial tasks are just too tiresome and exhausting. I fucking wish I could focus on some career, grind 12-14 hours a day, workout and sleep, day in and day out. At least I would learn something, earn money and profit But everything's tiring. Commuting is INSANELY exhausting, driving is stressful, sleep doesn't bring any regeneration or rest. I workout regularly, but it's a mechanical, automatic action, doesn't bring any satisfaction or any spectacular results. I don't suffer from any "physical" form of sadness, but what is happening feels completely UNRELATABLE to anyone else, could describe it as "abandonment". There's nothing I could dedicate to, feel satisfaction or fulfillment from doing, everything is fucking tiring. I'm probably fit enough for military service but I'm just so fucking tired.
I don't blame anyone else for this, I know it's on my part, but can do nothing to fix it. Sometimes I think that these "tough guys" telling to man up are right, that I should pull myself up by the ears, and the fact that I can't is just another failure on my part.

Shrinks don't help, I've tried. Actually it's the opposite. It's not only a money sink like you described, but what I got actually made things worse. I can't recall feeling WORSE than after taking it. Never been close to an hero than then. I opted out because it was only about coming regularly, paying up and receiving more poison. He even said that he's not about talking, telling me what to think or what to do, he's about prescribing pills. Fuck this.

I hate talking about this sort of stuff because it invariably comes off as cringy and I always want to delete it afterward, but here goes. I have, what I would call at least, rather severe depression and anxiety. Any time I am not doped on kratom, xanax, oxy/hyd, weed, you name it, I am constantly anxious over nothing. I went to a therapist; he seems to think it's an underlying subconscious deal, despite me not having any real emotional problems in childhood.
I describe it like sonar; there's 'passive' anxiety and 'active' anxiety. Passive is the baseline, the sitting around and just feeling nervous for no reason. It comes to you without your input, hence the name and reference to sonar, where random events years ago come back to you and you make you impulsively cringe. 'Active' is the anxiety that can be tied to an event or the like; you have something planned, or you're going out to the store. It's uncontrollable beyond just not doing the thing, and it combines with the baseline.
My blessing is that I'm not autistic, and so I can act normal, especially w/ the help of drugs, and that people mistake my anxiousness as me being annoyed. But every action just "hurts", and on multiple occasions I've remarked to myself 'this is almost tangible pain', sitting at some place with people.
Maybe I have a different sort of issue than most people, because it doesn't feel like a malevolent presence, a 'wolf' or something gay like that. It's just this floating pain that you can't stop. Abstract for a moment; if you were subject to constant pain that could only be stopped by addictive substances, would you not want to kill yourself? But I/other people can't, be it fear of death or how it would impact loved ones, which makes it literally feel like a torture to live. Sounds dramatic, but I can't put it in another way.
