Autistic anti-rebranding anon from >>16769890 here. If anyone missed it, I've been working on a shitty userscript that rebrands the site and attempts to fix/improve it. It's missing a lot of functionality right now, but it should be good enough for fags that run the original javascript or who want to go full noscript. My plan is to eventually have all the javascript I want in local userscript form (with more fine-tuned control over it than what 8chan provided) and run the site with no javascript but Vanwa's. However, it'll take me a while since I want to rewrite a lot of it for better performance (and to fix old bugs) rather than just include copies of it. So I decided to release what I currently have.
Features
>8chan branding, customizeable tagline with 2 logo options
>Less Qfag, newfag, and fed pandering
>Decensored FAQ page (<faggottext)
>Hide disclaimers on posts as well as the line on the bottom of OPs
>Fixes spoiler images loaded from the wrong domain
<For noscriptfags:
>Fixes all the links on the site, no more redirects
>If you manually navigate to a page without ?PageSpeed=noscript&Vanwa… the script redirects you faster
<Optional:
>Rewritten backlink generation - should be noticeably faster on toasters
>Make the top bar static (i.e. the top bar won't scroll with you)

You can read the full family-friendly edition of the readme here:
https://lelitoiliticu.neocities.org/forever/readme.txt
Download with source:
https://mega.nz/#!jC4BVATY!q4zu3EPtZ6jFaJ5aO0JYhamzxQzGzpRdDVH9ZPNQ-Hk
The whole thing is pretty short, well documented, easy to read. I encourage you to read it before installing. If you have trouble with shit crashing when trying to install it from the neocities page, it's because the file was too big. To get around that, try 1) importing it from your browser extension, 2) copypasting the script contents into a newly created userscript, or 3) manually copying the whole script file into your userscripts directory under your browser profile and restarting your browser for it to take effect.
Feel free to bully me. Post any bugs or pajeet-isms you find. Hopefully Mark allows this thread.

Interesting. Would this project eventually re-enable ability to use custom js per-embed reverse search functionality, or would that still get blocked by Vanwa for not being a human trying to access the file? Because that's a utility I really miss.

This was a real problem back on old 8chan on /b/ and the animu boards. Several users were duped into running scripts and got their shit wrecked.

Hm, I wonder if it's really getting hung up by just that. I'll admit, I never actually used javascript for anything but minor shit (the way it should have been used) so a lot of this is new to me. I'll fix the global variable declarations then. No idea why it would be getting hung up on indices. …Actually, I wouldn't put it past myself to get in a hurry and forget the "var" part in a for loop like a retard. I'll double check all my loops, hopefully it's just something stupid like that. I won't have time to get to any of this until later today though.
>>16782145
It would, but it'd surely be more work than I'd like to do. Since it runs in your browser, I think it'd be fairly easy to get past the Vanwa shit, but you would need to make it cache the results to avoid making too many requests (and inadvertently making the site slower for everyone else).
>>16782165
What do you mean, reverse image search like old imageboard extensions used to have for finding sauce? If so, I never used one of those so I don't know how they implemented that, but it could be done.
>>16782171
I was there for some of that. You should always read the code to make sure there is no hidden fuckery in it and that it does only what it says it does before using it. It's typically easier to verify the code is clean than it is to verify that any set of instructions similar to the old "how to make crystals" is safe to follow. /tech/ fags have posted legitimate scripts before, and I've used a couple of them (custom js to rename files back before Codemonkey reimplemented the save as unix timestamps option, and the eitochan project on gitgud). But if you can't verify the code is safe yourself, then I wouldn't recommend using any userscripts. It's not hard to learn though, and there's hopefully decent instructions in there on how to replace the encoded parts with self-encoded originals that you audited first for maximum security (which is what I recommend).
The eitochan project is actually what had me start thinking of this whole thing back in 2017, since I already knew that 8chan had many poorly optimized or broken functions that weren't getting fixed but I hadn't even considered fixing them myself. Slow backlink generation and hidden/filtered threads not getting cleared when they fall off the board (and thus making it take longer and longer over time for the catalog to hide threads on page load) being my two biggest complaints. The latter you can click "Show All" to clear your hidden/filtered posts, but it does it globally for every board and for non-threads too which makes it tedious on boards with a lot of spam.

Wew. I wouldn't mind any of my shit being used by Ron or helping him out, this site is broken as fuck. I'd do it 4free too. :^) You can contact me by email in the readme. As far as just css goes, I don't have a lot yet. I do have some ready that I didn't add to the script yet from an axed userscript I was working on that preceded this one, but even that's only a small amount of css. Most of the problems with the site require html or javascript changes. I would prefer the hyperlinks get fixed for noscript users on the server side, as fixing them with javascript is retardedly slow. In fact I emailed you and tried to email him about it before but I never got a response. I followed one fag on the bunker's instructions of where to send the email but I think it got eaten or the isitwetyet TLD had already changed to .com or some shit. Also the spoiler images if those haven't been fixed already, I haven't checked.

I did fuck up my index declarations. I didn't know that javascript variables when fucked up like that would make them global either. So that explains those errors. I assume Tampermonkey or your browser is more strict. I can see why the "use strict" command is so common, as it corrects this behavior. I'll be adding that to hopefully help with any more badly written code I shit out, but I think I won't make that mistake again.

Pretty much, where it puts a set of function links next to the embedded files so they can be easily sent to find sauce instead of copy and pasting. 8ch didn't have it inbuilt, but people had made custom scripts as it saved time compared to opening the file, copying the url, and pasting it. Now you can't even do that because vanwa blocks it, and instead requires manual saving and uploading.

I don't even know what's going on there, since I don't touch the native css. Are you blocking css too? You shouldn't be, as my script doesn't provide a replacement. If not, what's your setup? I've made a big "complete rewrite"-style userscript and let me tell you, modifying and fixing 8chankun's frontend is a fucking pain in the ass. In the end it's impossible to make it "fast" because there's so much that needs to be fixed that there's just no way to keep it snappy if you want to do them. For example now you need to write a fix to remove the horizontal line below OP posts, and removing that is a pain in the ass as well because it's not contained in anything at all so it's impossible to target with CSS/JS.

Sorry I haven't given any updates lately, last week I gave myself a mild concussion like a retard. Hit my head on a piece of furniture, wew. I'm mostly back to normal and resuming work now, but it'll be a little while longer. I had just finally gotten to automating the assembly of base64 and plaintext components into a complete script, with a more sanely organized project directory. I'm using a shitty one-file C++ tool, but I'd like to test it on Windows first. The global hyperlink fixes will be disabled since Ron fixed his shit (for a nice speed increase), but the functions are still there in case they are ever needed again. I made some other little fixes that I can't remember, but it'll be in the changelog when I release it.

This has been bothering the shit out of me, but why are BOTH of our innate site galleries utter fucking garbage? The faggot ass gallery mode has that stupid scrolling thumbnails not even my Ublock element blocker will disable, and the one I get pressing G is equally shit, because I can't see the background as I scroll and fap.
The fucking 4chan archive, even Oneechan scripts have the 4chan X gallery feature, with the ability to hide those stupid thumbnails, why the niggerdicks does ours lack this critical feature?
