Not only that but there's a lack of customization. If you're on the Rebel or Resistance side they're all ugly-looking humans. Also there are only 4 weapons per class, half of them are from the Disney era so they don't look like Star Wars weapons.

That mode is so fucking bad. It's ruined by the Star Cards crap.

You're going to have to learn to play shooters "Southpaw" style is you want to get any real enjoyment out of it. Emulation does alleviate some of the problem given how you can customize the controls, but it doesn't solve the issue.

It's a free mod that's pretty good. Cyberpunk, 3 different classes with different weapons and combinations of augmentations, there's cyberspace happening in parallel where deckers take control of important points to affect the game and the game play is fast-paced but quite tactical.
Only issue is that it's often dead, so you're better off joining their group on Steam since they post heads-up when they gather to play. I really wish this at least had bots to practice with.

It's free as well, unless you feel like backing the devs by buying some of the cosmetic shit (that some servers add as plugins anyway).
It's a nice asymetric game about Marines vs Aliens with a lot of neat mechanics, especially for the player that takes the role of Commander for either team. It actually has bots and you can practice a few matches if you want, a lot of active servers and plugins to balance teams so you don't get steamrolled or vice-versa, and plenty of variety in gameplay from all the different alien types to the different approaches they have to the map.
Interestingly, the game is half FPS and half economy. Being good at killing your foes helps but knowing how to properly manage your resources and understanding the flow of the game is what decides who wins. I'd even say it's more of a resource management game than a FPS, even though there's really only 1 resource.

It wasn't killed, you can still find matches for it last I checked. It's not even that bad if you're into these kinds of games and the movement helps to prevent it becoming the snore fest that CoD can devolve into frequently. I was actually surprised to see how Titans are actually quite well done, being useful and powerful but they don't make Pilots useless or weak.
I get the idea most of the complaints come from people expecting just another run-and-gun FPS or Mech Warrior when TF2 is none of these.

Good taste though, the RTS elements add so much depth and strategy I just wish the communtiy was larger so I didnt have to play with shitters half the time. Having an actually competent commander makes such a huge difference.

I honestly have no opinion on this, I liked the game I played but have no basis for comparison. Maybe it sucks for veterans that saw something better, but I think newer players can apreciate what's there, at least I could.

Sorry, you're correct and it actually costs money. It was just cheap and I don't much notice when I buy cheap shit on Steam anymore.

My experience was the exact oposite. There were plenty of smurfers dodging the "ranking mod" or whatever tool was used to give each player a form of MMR so they could join unbalanced teams and stomp for fun.
I have also played with competent commanders and that can be fun, but more often than not it really isn't. They act in a coordinated way with veterans in a way that makes little sense for newer players, expecting you to understand it by instinct. Worse still is that those players have little patience for any Commander that doesn't do the same. (And because of that, many of them aren't willing to Command).
I mostly stuck to more casual servers so the matches didn't just devolve into rushing the opposing team and winning by resource starvation very fast. Winning is fun, but gliding around or playing Gorge is more fun.

Heroes and special classes are too easy to get. It isnt special when two thirds of the server is rocking one of them. The team balance is horrendous and the game should really support 64 people in a server like they did 20 years ago. Despite these flaws the core gameplay is actually quite fun, at least when a match is evently matched.
