How did this game turn out? I played the demo way back in 2014, I've heard the finished game is great.

It's not out yet, is it?
I just want them to do more with the Quantic Moon.
All it did was just a "ahah! gotcha" gimmick in the original.
But then you read about it jumping to a 5th position, and yeah, there's a few times where you don't see it on the star map. I tried to figure this out, maybe you could "jump" with it and find a new secret area but never managed to.
Oh wait
>epic store exclusive
Great, another game I can pirate guilt-free because Randy's paid the developer to make free games for me.
Thanks Randy, you're a pal!

It's such a unique little game. It's equal parts comfy and terrifying.

An excellent game. Truly the wait was worth it. Maybe one should buy, at least full price, because the devs are turbo SJW, and also it was timed exclusive on EPIC, so posibly devs got enough money by being paid by Fortnite money.
Its truly worth a play-trough. I recommend it to almost anyone.

I got it and The Last Station free from some Microsoft Mix Pot for watching an E3 or something through Mixer like two years ago when they first bought the service. It unlocked for me to play last spring, and I still haven't bothered installing or booting up either of them.

>I've always wanted a playable groundhogs day.
Well faggot, you're in luck. They literally made a sequel to the movie as a VR game. Looks like somebody at Sony Picture Studio sucked a lot a dick to get this made, so you better play it all the way through and enjoy it or else all of that cum guzzling will have gone to waste.

I just read about it a bit while it's downloading.
Aparently they DID do something with the Quantum moon so now I'm happy.
I'll be even happier when it finishes downloading.
Thanks Tim, you're a pal.

Outer Wilds was ignored by most buyfags because it was epic store exclusive, but luckily I pirate everything.
Neat game. Good atmosphere with a focus on exploration and discovery. Some things you can discover by mistake while others you have to do a bit of digging through logs and dialog to uncover. Interesting mechanics with the time and quantum stuff as well as the different planets and how they function. It's like a space mystery where you snoop around trying to figure out how things work and what happened. The aesthetics, dialog, characters, music, story, etc. are all pretty good; contributing to the aforementioned good atmosphere.
The one major shortcoming is that the game has zero replayability. Once you discover everything and know the story the primary motivation of "discovery" is gone and there is no reason to play the game again. If you want to enjoy Outer Wilds you should avoid spoilers as the game is at its best when you are exploring and discovering things for yourself.

It is excellent, which is why it hasn't been talked about much on /v/. Easy game of the year, it actually uses gameplay for story-telling and world-building. Plan to play it exclusively, without any other vidya distracting you, as you have to concentrate on a broad detective story and you won't be able to pick it back up after two weeks. I did everything, took maybe five or six evenings. Spoilers are critical to the game, don't check any walkthroughs or you are a faggot.

It doesn't help that when I made a thread about it on release the hivemind shitposters just jumped on it screaming 'walking simulator' 'indie trash' 'shill shill SHILL SHILL SHILL.' There's a reason I don't bother making threads any more.

Jesus Christ, I remember that thread.
I think it was one nig proxyfagging the whole time. He was either trolling or such a newfag that he didn't reminder our old Outer Wilds threads circa 2014.
I was worried I'd get the same reaction with this thread here, but thankfully it didn't turn out that way.

The early demos basically were the full game, just with no story. The later demos locked everything off.

Not in the fucking slightest, I hate how that term is coming to mean any game that's not combat-oriented. Soon you'll start seeing people claim Portal is a walking simulator.

Okay I'm back from beating the game. It's fucking fun. Absolutely zero replay value, except maybe if you want to try and speedrun it. Not really a walking sim. More of a puzzle/playformer that doesnt explicitly sell itself as such. Plus, a very nice story. I felt very attached to the characters Spoiler: Especially the dead aliens who communicate through imageboards

What? No. Never
>Give an example of early puzzle and platform section please
entering the sunless city
reaching the anglerfish fossil
entering the tower of quantum knowledge
reaching the black hole forge
navigating the inside of brittle hollow at all
finding escape pod 3
completing the quantum training tower
reaching the quantum moon
navigating the goddamn moon
There's not really an early game imo. As soon as you leave your planet and land anywhere else in the solar system you've entered the midgame, which lasts as long as you want it to.

No it still does that you just get infinite retries. When I say it lasts as long as you want it to I mean you can go straight to the end if you somehow know where it is, but if you want to explore more you can keep zipping around planets looking for clues and lore. There's a computer in your ship that saves your knowledge between deaths so you can decide where you want to explore next

I really enjoyed the game, but, like a previous anon mentioned, once you see everything the game has to offer, once, there's no point in playing it again. I thought the story you slowly discover was pretty interesting, though. If I had one complaint, it would be about the ending. I felt it didn't really fit the rest of the game.
