It was just released a few days ago. Anyone else playing it? Which successor state is the least jewish? Why does my mech lose all inertia when I pause the game?

I'm playing it. The game is repetitive padding for probably hundreds of hours and not much else to it, but I think I might be autistic enough to go through it anyway. Sniping shit all day with a 3 PPC awesome, finally figured out the trick to cockpit shots (shoot the glass, if you aim too high it counts as a torso shot, that threw me off for a long time I kept trying to aim higher). Cockpit kills are reliable salvage, others are possible but unlikely.
Since you lose all inertia whenever you hit esc, you can probably use that to dodge shots effectively by coming to a sudden stop, especially if you hit x right after unpausing.

these days?
none, the old lore was a little fucky on how kiked the houses were but steiner was always a good and german route but that is long in the past.
best just mute all dialog and pew-pew your way though what is left of the inner sphere while lissening to an audiobook or podcast or something.

It doesn't have an option for subtitles, and there's no mission checkpoints. The preformance will sometimes tank when you try to zoom in when there are trees in the area, even with the trees set to low.
First mission giver guy is voiced by the same guy that voiced Adam Jensen, no idea how long he sticks around though.

Complete disappointment, PGI fucked up as everyone expected. The gamepplay is repetitive, the graphics are god awful and naturally the story is non-existent.

A simple rundown of the factions?
>Federated Suns
>House Davion
Designated goodguys of the BT universe. Thematicly they try to be like old english or french knights protecting the little people with their chivalry. Also most pragmatic and down to earth of the major factions.
>Draconis Combine
>House Kurita
Used to be the designated bagguys of BT. Only a small amount of actual japanese ancestry despite the "muh honorabu" and the other weeaboo shit.
They used to be all about repressing the little people, fielding whole battalions of nothing but panthers and murdering all mercenaries on sight. I doubt we'll see any of that shit in any modern game.
>Cappellan Confederation
>House Liao
Like The dracs, but worshiping china instead of japan and being sneaky backstabbing cunts all the time instead of warmongering samurai. They have sizable minorities of Scottish highlanders and Russians for some reason.
>Lyran Commonwealth
>House Steiner
They are supposed to be rich, corrupt and incompetent, prefering to through lots of assault mechs at any problem and having an officercorps infamous for how many reach high rank through bribes and family connections instead of of being competent. Also German.
>Free Worlds League
>House Marik
UN in space. A collection of smaller realms that spend all their time fighting eachother and only ever working together when an outsider threatens them all. Plagued by constant squabbling and infighting and democratic, theoretically anyway, in practice its been ruled for 500+ years by a single family who have all the ruling power as generalisimo for life and keeps appointing their own children as heirs the only major state in the innersphere who is demoractic too.
>Comstar
The bastard child of the AT&T and the mechanicus. They are the only group who knows how to operate all the FTL communications that keep the world working, so despite operating like a cult, constantly spying on everyone else and frequently manipulating them into constant wars and having spend 200 years engineering a technological dark age for their own purposes, everyone needs them. They secretly have a giant army of the most advanced mechs around, but don't tell anyone. Its a secret
>Free Rasalhague Republic
>Never had a ruling house
A collection of worlds populated mostly by scandinavians sitting on the border between the the Dracs and the Lyrans. They love dressing up as dracula seriously, their army's dress uniform looks like a stylish black smoking with a white shirt and a long dark cape lined with red velvet, like they are dressing up as Christopher Lee's dracula and a strange fetish for putting machineguns on mechs knees. Also they don't exist until 3034 and the game is set around 3015, so never mind. We just can have anything nice, can we?
Did I leave anything important out?

Depending on the ruleset used in a game, more often than not acquiring and fielding maximum tonnage is the one strategy that nullifies all other tactics and other factors.
Well, either that or speed über alles when neither artillery nor mines are available. Can't kill what can't be hit. BT may be fun, but I've never seen an implementation of it that could be called balanced.

Battletech, does have artillery and mines, in the tabletop rules. Also FASCAM artillery missiles, if you want to combine artillery and mines in one.
In the tabetop rules, you are usually better off trying to find a good ballance between size and speed, rather than going all out for one or the other. Big makes you slow and an easy target for the enemies big guns, small and fast tends to leave with so little in the way of armor and guns that anything that does hit you is likely to cripple you and you can rarely do any real damage in return. The latter a point in the timeline the worse this gets.
Also, keep in mind the point value to field those assaults is higher than for a lesser mech that can do the same job often.
To use a metaphor, assaultmechs are like a Zweihänder, it looks big and cool, but outside their intended specialist roles they are rarely the best tool available to do the job and have their own, potentially crippling downsides. **Good luck trying to swing that thing in a packed crowd or anywhere indoors that isn't a ballroom or warehouse.

Nigga, they're the natural conclusion of Google. Think about it. Google is already doing a lot of the shit Comstar was.

See, that's what I mean: Most BT games don't have artillery or mines. If there's no cap on evasion, you can make lights that are literally impossible to hit, can't roll a 13 on 2d6. Go up the techtree a bit and you get evasion mitigation like pulsers and TCs, then massive hunks of armor rule again. Go even further up the techtree and stealth tips the scale back towards lights. There's just a tiny window that could be called remotely balanced and even then, unless you're bound to prebuilt variants you're best off sticking to the extreme favoured by the available tech level. For a brief period that is the famous Steiner Scout lance, outside of it the permajumping light snipers. Which usually get dropped because of a limit to the number of units you can control or simply because delivering death-by-a-thousand-cuts gets annoying and/or boring after a while.

Been playing the Paradox Battletech game lately. An SDR-5K with ER S Lasers is one of the best mechs you can field because of the evasion stacks making it nearly invincible, and aimed shots to the back for up to 160 damage being enough to 2-shot assault mechs and potentially 1-shot anything else. And the AI doesn't like to focus light mechs to begin with, probably because it considers them "low threat" even while they are running around killing 1 medium mech per turn each.
FS9-H does well also. It trades some speed for an extra S-Laser slot (filling all 6 slots requires sacrificing the gyro pretty much making you unhittable, so it's best to stick to 5), plus enough extra tonnage to mount jump jets and a couple heat sinks while keeping near max armor. The speed loss is extremely significant to the strategy though.
Meanwhile in this game, Mechwarrior 5, running a solo SDR-5K or better yet, an SDR-A is one of the best ways to clear Raid type missions. Those fucking vehicle swarms will chew up your assault mech lance and the mission will take a good 20 minutes that way, but a Spider can clear it in 2 minutes and any damage is cheep to fix. Pretty good for demolition missions as well, so at least I can say that all assaults isn't the answer to everything, just almost everything.

HBS's BT multiplayer beta was pretty much all Firestarters, all the time. Or Kintaros if you got bored with zipping around and used multitarget evasion stripping with the last one remaining dumping its alpha into the best to-hit, rotating who's on alpha and who's on evasion stripping duty to control for heat.
Vanilla has been utterly broken since months before release and nothing changed for the better even after 3 DLCs. Thank fuck for Roguetech and similar mods as silly as they might get, game would've been long dead without them.
Has epic betawarrior finally dropped randomly spawning shit in your back now? To date the biggest idiocy I've ever seen in this whole franchise. How clueless must one be to consider that a good idea for a game centered around tactical positioning and location damage?

But S Lasers and other utility slot weapons completely ignore Evasion, so Firestarter VS Firestarter mostly ignores the advantages of both and you might be better off with a Grasshopper loading up on S lasers instead. you can't catch them, but they have to get near you to shoot and you've got WAY more armor and structure to return fire, plus maybe some kind of long range weapon.
Haven't tried patching MW5 yet, so I don't really know how that's gone.

Broken mechanics lead to broken matches. If the only available counter to a dominant strategy is that same strategy, you'll see an awful lot of it.

I'm pretty positive they even said they aren't going to be busting out patch after patch. How has no one smeared shit on their office doors yet? Hopefully this kills them.
They even said they were surprised multiplayer was so popular, like who woulda thought that playing mechwarrior with your friends was going to be a thing right?
I pirated this shit and I played it a lot but I just dropped it. I'm really hoping mods can polish this turd but I'm not holding my breath. Oh fun fact, someone who was digging around the files found hooks for the different clans, that will be 39.99 plus tax goy.
