I am looking for city builder, RPGs, Grand Strategy or RTS games that are set in a frontier, hotile and/or apocaliptic setting, i tried Frost Punk and it feels like a puzzle game more than a city builder because of how streamlined it is, i would like something in space but i dont know any recent space city builder that doesn't suck.

It's more of an RTS/city builder with tower defense style enemies than a real tower defense game. Way more emphasis on resource generation and management, training units, etc.

I don't get why city builders feel so dull now. I used to play Sim city, including the SIM CITY trash one and thought it was really fun then cities skylines which was also fun but now they're fucking boring as fuck.

God fuck that game so much. It's got a really good feel to it and a single zombie can fuck you up which makes sense but I always thought it was kinda weird that you could have a population of a couple hundred yet not all can work. Unless I'm just retarded that seems dumb.
I also just wanted to build shit and then spam units but that's impossible obviously

The campaign is neat, youre a commander for the (not)emperor of mankind and have to go through different maps establishing colonies under certain objectives, you start with very basic tech and have to progress up a tech tree with points you get in every mission, theres also the action-rpg missions in wich you go inside bunkers with your commander.
