I think it would have to be animated, HEAVY METAL style preferably, and be basically a start to finish thrash metal opera. All about saving or avenging Daisy.

Replace russians with demons and Hardcore Henry could make for a decent DOOM movie.
>Did it do anything right
No.
>Is a low effort rip off of alien and the Karl Urban Doom movie
>Action scenes are sub standard shit, you know. Cuts everywhere, zero clarity, dark and color corrected and no effort was put in
>Demons are mostly zombies with mediocre makeup, and imps with terrible rubber costumes
>BFG looks like ass and the most it does is knock zombies back instead of exploding them or something
>Super Shotgun Dude literally kills two zombies and gets fucked
>Every other supporting character is either a dumbass or irritating
>Final "action" scene is protagonist remembering her mother's rosary or something, getting a second wind and BFG'ing the big bad which for some reason works and is as impactful as a wet fart
>Ends on a cliffhanger for a sequel that'll never happen
>Protagonist isn't some hot as fuck musclegrill but a pasty twig of the 2015+ hollywood "strong woman" variety
>Has that retarded "if we reference someone's name from the thing then fans of the thing will like it" crutch so many things use. Ha ha one guy is named carmack wow dudes isn't this DOOM™?
Also Doom Eternal is 90% going to suck balls. They can pile all the movement gimmicks and flashy melee and shoulder mounted weapons they can think of but until they fix how the enemies spawn and act it's still going to be a low rent Serious Sam clone.

Bro, I love Hardcore Henry. I don't know if a full first person movie would work for doom though and if there can be dialogue. I've never read any of the Doom novels but I would like something like the comic in a short film.

Haven't seen the movie, but I heard it has basically nothing to do with Doom. It's a very cheap production on par with what you'd see on the Syfy channel in 2010.
It was some crappy science fiction script Tony Giglio wrote that he reworked into a Doom film after NuDoom took off so he could pitch it to Universal.
It's generally regarded as worse than the 2005 film.

You could have him rescue survivors or have a demon monologue before Doomguy fucks them up mid-monologue, or have a million little tiny character details shown from the first person prespective instead of having him speak.
It could work, but it needs someone intelligent and passionate about Doom and I doubt you'll find anyone like that in Hollywood.

This movie have the same problem as pic related. a film that creates filler so that the actors can act and that does not benefit the final product and leaves fans of the game annoyed because of the lack of fidelity to the videogame story line.
All video game adaptations to the big screen should follow the mold of Mortal Kombat (the first movie). A movie that respects the original story and builds on it scenes that feel natural in the continuity of the story.

what storyline? the fucking storyline was always persia, a prince, parcour and something with sand.
most vidya stories are nowhere near enough to fill a hollywood movie, and if you just re-hash the storytelling via gameplay why make a movie out of it? a doom movie that's just rip&tear for over an hour would be boring as fuck.

This movie was truly abysmal on every level – the script is a stale copy of better films, the sets are cheap and uninspired, the CGI is atrocious (for the most part), the acting ranges from subpar to enjoyably scene stealing.
The main actress, Amy Manson, is horribly miscast. If they had to go with a female lead they should have gone with Nina Bergman – she looks much better suited for the role, and judging by the behind the scenes photos she had a much bigger role originally. Along with the actors who play Sarge and Dr. Betruger, and the actress who plays Veronica, Nina was the only one who felt right and seemed to give a fuck.
They should have had fewer characters; a squad of elite soldiers like in Star Wars: Republic Commando, with entertaining banter on occasion, but who are professionals and feel like trained soldiers. If writer/director Tony Gigolo couldn’t be bothered to come up with something original he should have ripped off the opening to Predator (1987): the rescue team shows up, looking badass and over the top, like characters in a 1980s action/horror film. They receive their mission and fly in – introduce the characters as they are heading to Mars in the landing shuttle – fun, manly banter. Then, when they land and find complete carnage everywhere they stop fucking around and act like pros.
It doesn’t have to do the FPS gimmick, but it would’ve been nice to see them use a lot of handheld camera work, giving it a chaotic, confusing and intense look, similar to the beach scenes in Saving Private Ryan (1998). That way we feel like we are down on the ground with the soldiers in their desperate struggle for survival. The camera follows them, moves around. No fancy cinematography or lighting – raw & brutal – cinéma vérité, guerilla filmmaking. Long sequences without any dialogue other than military chatter/commands, and hand signals. Nightvision/infrared look in areas without any light at all. Use retro-futuristic tech; 1980s CRT-screens/monitors with VHS tearing & effects. Weapons should feel heavy & clunky & real.
If Roger Corman’s (“the King of B-Movies”) studio could make a truly fantastic-looking & well-written sci-fi horror film like Galaxy of Terror (1981) on a very tight budget and shooting schedule, using nothing but practical effects and clever tricks, then Tony Gigolo has no excuse for churning out a truly ugly, unoriginal, unimaginative, copy-paste abysmal turd like this. Just look how great the practical effects and sets in Galaxy of Terror are, even by today’s standard.

A Doom movie should be the easiest video game based movie to make. All you need to do is get a football player, dress him up as a space marine and have him running around shooting and blowing up monsters for 2 hours. I don't know how they keep fucking it up.

If you have neither watched Commando or played Duke ever, then pick the movie because it's a unique experience and is the root of much of the other's personality.
If you could magically get a new Commando movie whenever you run Duke, I guess you could mix between the two of them whenever one gets stale.

Fair enough. I'll admit my argument is mainly derived from the fact that I''ve come to dislike movies as of recently and am physically incapable of sitting through one without fidgeting around, sleeping through them or just being outright bored, even with super action packed shit like the most recent fast and furious spinoff, it was well made(or rather the action was well shot) and yet I couldn't get one hour in before shutting it and playing something.

Idunno, Gigolo at least claims to be a “hardcore fan” of the games. Not that it shows in the film.
But, yeah, the studio probably did it to launder some money and keep the rights in the process. I don’t think they gave a single fuck how the film turned out.
>>16781664
Yeah, like Ruggero Deodato’s 1980 cult classic Cannibal Holocaust, blending found footage and traditional filmmaking; you have UAC executives on earth going thru recordings of what happened on Mars. The scenes on earth with the suits are shot like a typical film, but the footage from Mars is found footage and hand held camerawork – mostly from surveillance cameras, helmet cameras, &c. – maybe footage shot by a press/docu team sent to capture the first-ever case of teleportation on behalf of the company?
