In all seriousness though I don't pay attention to meta or anything so the meta weapons stuff I hardly knew about until recently, I still do well against other players despite not using it.

this is obviously to stop people from just powering through all quests with money so they have to play the game, your complaint is essentially that they didn't write lore in the mission description as to why it must be found in raid. I will however concede that a lot of quests are garbage.

There are a lot of problems with the game but I still have fun killing people in it.

So, it is shitty quest design. Good quests are quests that feel meaningful, are fun, and most importantly, can be completed with multiple ways. Play some Gothic 1 and 2 to see how good quests look like.

The AI is luckily dumb. You have to get the AI to push you. You can bait them into your area by firing near them. The real problem are the players that kill you near places where loot can be found, but it's just a matter of waiting until they leave.

It sucks, but play it slow. It's not a twitch shooter, so be sure to wait for a few minutes if you're in a good spot. Get gear by escaping as a scav, use youtube to find the escape points.

It's a 6-8 PVP looter shooter where you come with a loudout and 2-3 escape points. It's basically what The Division should have been.
On one hand, I like it because it's not arcadey in comparison to other looter shooters. There's no shooting at enemies with bloated healthbars for more than 5 minutes with a DPS team, they die reasonably even if you have shitty equipment.
