They're going full Reddit and making it into a fucking Density clone instead of a well crafted FPS.
All I wanted was a nice atmosphere and good shooting and instead I got a shitty grindfest thanks to retarded modern devs that play and watch nothing but trash.

You could have put some more effort in your "review". Just saying "it's a clone of X game" doesn't say anything, at least say what elements they drew from X game.
This low effort with that video just makes me think the game is actually fine or you're a shill.

Don't exagerate, there's probably an option to disable that as most games like this tend to have.
It's most likely there for the sake of feedback instead of hit markers and for all the number crunching nerds to theorycraft all day long.

Damage outputs and health bars aren't inherently bad, it's bullet sponge enemies and shield mechanics that make Destiny / Borderlands such a slog.

That's precisely you say when you're guessing, you moron. I'm not certain since I don't know, therefore it's only a probability.
If you want to argue that it's a very low probability or that it isn't even possible, we'd have to compile a decent list of games that feature floating numbers and see how many allow you to toggle it off.
While I'm not too confident this will be the case here, I'm fairly sure there's a decent amount of similar games that do give you that option, therefore "probably" is quite apt.
>>16773219
They're not a good sign though.
You only need statistics about how much damage you're exactly causing when you're supposed to craft specific builds to tackle a problem which on one hand can mean interesting gameplay but quite often devolves into bullet sponges that you need to "figure out". If that wasn't the case, hit markers would suffice.
They are also used by Devs that want to give basic gratification to the players which indicates the rest of the game just might not be that good.
It's also a matter of style I suppose. Top-down hack&slash games have floating numbers all the time, with mods often used specifically to add even more numbers visible for you (Grim Dawn comes to mind) but those are games where the focus is building your character and numbers let you gauge how well you're doing.
FPS games however are far more action-centric and big floating numbers kinda take away from that and make the whole experience more arcade-y than it needs to be. It's not something that many will admit to but basically, it's immersion breaking.
Of course, you could also go the route of mouth breathers like >>16773261 and merely say they are bad because that's the consensus of /v/, the hive mind, with no reasoning behind it. Now stop climbing that ladder, you're not allowed to eat those bananas.

When I played TF2 a good number of years ago, I'm bad, very bad at FPS games. I kept the damage numbers and dings enabled so I could actually track when I hit someone.

I was raped behind a Pizza Hut in 1994 by a blond trucker with a yeezer shirt. My asshole has been prolapsed ever since and no amount of psychologist visits or ass medication helps heal the strains of pain. My life will never be the same, even less so for my asshole. I have to shove a cork up so I don't suffer anal leakage (which has happened 4 times now and I die a little of embarrassment). The only good thing about the whole ordeal (aside from reaffirming my heterosexual orientation) is that farting now is silent. I call it ninja gas because no one can tell I took a fart. That's all.

Quote where I said or implied this, turbo faggot. The only disagreement here is that you believe there won't be an option to turn off floating numbers while I think that COULD exist.
You're the only dumb cunt making absolute statements about something you don't even have a way to confirm in the first place.
If it seems like someone is saying contradictory shit to you, maybe the problem isn't that they are wrong and stupid but rather that you misinterpreted what they said, a common mistake when you're looking for specific conclusions before you start reading their posts and refusing to think beyond disagreeing by impulse.
If I was in favor of floating numbers, why would I talk about an option to remove them?
If I was defending them being present in this game, why would I proceed to say that they are justified for top-down hack&slash games but out of place in FPS?
Fucking read a book, nigger. It's good practice for not being a dumb contrarian.

As an engineer, the hit sounds did help to know when my sentry was shooting someone and when it stopped. Helps to keep an area under control if you can focus your vision on other things.
Never had much use for the other shit but I know some players keep the damage numbers so they can decide when it's best to switch weapons, like turning to melee when they know the next stab will be a killing blow or switching to the revolver if they know the other guy is low enough to kill with a single clip.
Then again, Team Fortress 2 always had a bit of a cartoon style to it with a competitive focus imposed by the community, so I guess floating numbers aren't that weird in that context. Not anymore than all the hats and particle effects anyway.

They unfortunately go hand in hand with single player shooters like this. It's done to artificially increase the playtime.

I don't mind health bars being an option but I'd personally rather see it being in a visual manner, if possible. Shooting a nigger in the head and grabs it would be cool, same with kneecapping a bitch.

>It's done to artificially increase the playtime.
Not necessarily, but it's often the case, yes.
You have the example of Borderlands where most bosses do have a ridiculous health pool for the sake of making their fights longer since they don't actually have anything interesting happening in them (and even then, they aren't THAT high unless you're severely under-leveled there).
Then you have the example of Shadow Warrior 2 where every enemy has health bars but most of the fodder you meet dies fast and the actual health sponges tend to be actual bosses or have some gimmick puzzle to it, usually killing the nearby minions first or simply using the correct elemental type to handle them.
It becomes far more noticeable at higher difficulty levels where, if you're not using the right element a fight can take most of your ammo but once you use whatever the enemy is weak against, it goes down far faster.
It's nothing too amazing but at least it turns the entire health sponge issue into a puzzle you can figure out and it's cool that there's some logic to it (fire enemies resist fire and are weak to ice, ice enemies resist ice and are weak to fire) and they often pair them together so you need to track and focus the right enemy while switching weapons around.
There's also a very important distinction to be made about these 2 examples and something like Destiny since these are still single-player focused games with co-op on the side and therefore they don't have the morbid need of taking several months of your life to complete, unlike Destiny and similar games that actually are MMOs and need to justify playing them for as long as possible, where they'll crank up the health sponges to 11.
Basically, health sponges in single player can sometimes be a symptom that you're not playing right while in multiplayer it's a symptom that the game you're playing doesn't actually have that much content to keep you busy.
