The indie game Carrion puts you in the shoes of the shapeless, eldritch horror, and in Kaiju Dating Simulator you cobble together some kaiju monstrosity; arms, feet, &c., but that is of course played for laughs. Same with Spore; the only interesting thing about that game was making all kinds of messed up creatures.

This idea sounds like it would be perfect for a kaiju game IMHO; build your own kaiju from scratch, either 100% organic, 100% robotic, or any combination of the two, before they let you loose to rampage thru Tokyo or some other massive city with lots of buildings to break and objectives to complete. RE3 takes place a day before RE2, so Kendo could show up. He could replace Dario in the story, which would let Jill try and save his daughter. I'm hoping Jill is at least able to save some npcs in the remake. It was such a downer in the original to see some npcs get killed just offscreen before Jill could reach them. Outbreak was awesome, because it was a bunch of regular people trying to survive and doing so with the help of other regular people. There were no boulder-punching and superspeed monsters in the game at the time.

The second one stops being scary when you get the holy water. Game is a fucking joke after that- at best, the dynamic soundtrack carries the rest of the game and the soundtrack is excellent, but the fact you can't speed it and save your wife is a tragedy, next to the fact you have to savescum if you want to save the most people.

After the first celing vamp, you're never falling for it again, or at least two- I always look up on following playthroughs.

I'm a little nervous with the quick turnaround in development and how they're bundling it with another game. Code Veronica feels more like the spinoff, to be honest. Its tone is much closer to 4 and the only real improvements to the formula where the quick turn (which 3 also did), dual wielding and the fully modeled world which allowed for things like light rendering and first person scopes but came with its own set of drawbacks.

Compare that to 3's dodge mechanics, gunpowder combinations, environmental hazards you could use to your advantage, the live choice system, mercenaries and actual stairs that functioned like terrain instead of essentially vertical doors.

3 just had way more gameplay ambition where I feel Code Veronica focused too much on its batshit story and bloated maps.

Zero works if it was retconned to be a dream that Rebecca had prior to 1. It would explain how a hunter was able to easily corner and potentially kill her after she had already taken down a tyrant. Although, it would be a cop-out to say the events of Zero are what Rebecca’s mind was able to piece together after her team was slaughtered.

Well shotguns to Mr X's head do stun him over time. Although you do need lots of shots for hardcore mode (the only real mode).

A general headshot stun sure. I'm talking about specific critical points like the eyes having a special type of stun or effect on the enemy. Tyrant uses weapons… his precision and FOV will be important.

Grenades can't really hit the face, either. They drop to the floor and do AOE. That should not be calculated to any critical points and instead just have its own damage which contributes to standard stun or perhaps short unique stun if it splodes at zero range (direct hit).

Not really. You're not even supposed to be shooting Mr X or the Tyrant. They're indestructible forces to harass you throughout the game. Shooting them is a last resort when you're cornered or in a spot with multiple hostiles. Being able to super stun them with one shot to the face because it technically hit the eyes seems wrong as the shotgun spread is too wide so the skill of hitting the critical areas is gone. There's also muscle and limb shots that should cause specific stuns. Legs obviously slow down and cause tripping. Arm/bicep and finger shots should cause reduction of aim, reduce range and types of melee/grabs as well as reduce the damage of them. I can even see being able to shoot the flamethrower as a way to fuck it up being a strat.

Again though none of this will happen. They'll just have you shoot until they kneel for a few seconds so you can escape. We're lucky if they even make headshots do any extra damage.
