If anyone is considering getting this for PC, you should probably wait. The updated version of Denuvo is so cancerous that the game runs, in best conditions, about 66% of the frame rate it used to. Lockups are sporadic and loading times can randomly become immense. High-end machines can expect to swing from 45-90fps. Budget machines will not have a good time unless you learn to love turning on a 30fps lock. The game is a static upgrade to the base game, with much better hit boxes and many quality-of-life improvements. It's a shame it runs like piss on high-end machines.

I gotta say, the hunts during the first run, when you just finish the campaign, I HATED how long they took. It almost killed my fun playing the game when a quest overstayed its welcome. It draaagged fighting the MR versions of the same monsters all over again (optional quest tree).

After the final boss, it was okay again, because your goal actually became to get the fastest possible gear, so you had something to do. And after Safi Jiva, wasting 15 minutes on a 1-monster quest is rare.

Don't get me wrong anon, I'm not a fan of loadzone fuckery either, I think it could have been improved with a prompt to transition instead of just being teleported without player control. I am however the asshole that think monsters only go to those areas if you fight in such a way that leads them there, it was still a pain in the ass when it happened. Hence why I said I would have prefered if there were more changes to the formula over this weird mish mash of ideas/game design philosophies, having long corridors to walk through is boring and it happens because they wanted to keep the old map design and logic (areas connected by corridors). While true, the damage was either minimal or in Pickle's case a nightmare to handle, you'd more often than not get hit too so dung bomb was always on the menu. The problem with turf wars is when a monster enters the area you're fighting another monster, it disengages you to go do a cinematic action with the other monster, and depending on the monsters are you basically got given a good chunk of free damage not because you were smart, not because you used the environment against it, but because one monster decided to randomly walk in and deal a thousand damage to your target.

I played the original english version on PS2, MH Tri on the Wii and dabbled in Tri Ultimate.

Overall the main problem I have with the new game is that monsters don't make as much use of the environment as you do. Pukei can buff his attacks by feeding on certain plants and Kulu can eat eggs from nests to regain stamina but otherwise nothing takes advantage of the healing plants and other nonsense though it is nice how certain monsters will prefer to fight you in areas where that add quake effects to their attacks. Another issue is them kind of forcing the palico on you, the chaka laka kid was annoying and sometimes a hindrance so I didn't feel bad leaving him behind but your cat brings a lot to the table in terms of interacting with the environment and especially the grimalkynes that leaving him behind feels like I'm missing out on a bunch of content. Additionally, the scout flies are really intrusive and I'd prefer that tracks and other interactables were simply more clearly marked. All the graphical enhancements make it harder to find things and just having the icons that show up when you get close to them instead have an option to be toggled on all the time would have worked better. Finally, the slinger should've been something that went in the tool slot so that when you gain more tools later on their is something you have to give up instead of just getting free damage soak and other claptrap. Tools also should require refueling with resources so that you have to put work in to get benefits from them.

Overall the technological benefits seem to more than outweigh some of these poor design decisions. Also, some of the new stuff fixes retardation from the previous games. Monsters SHOULD fight each other, and many skills are so weak requiring you to dedicate multiple armor pieces to activating them is needlessly obtuse. Heck, the previous games had armor that had enough skill points on it to activate skills in the forms of earrings and jewelry with the trade off being those pieces typically had poor defense.

That being said, the games direction bodes ill for the series. Anything that becomes popular turns to shit, and I guarantee you that the sales of this game are more attributable to all the shiny graphics and cutscenes than the changes to gameplay. If Monster Hunter can retain its soul in the face of overwhelming bad feedback from secondaries then it'll enter a golden era, but from what I'm hearing about Iceborne I fear the opposite case has come to pass.

I found the combat to be one of the worst aspects of it. It feels like your character has shoes made out of soap, and rather than being heavily based around careful timing of the momentum of attacks, it seems more based around waiting for the monster to pause and then mashing attacks out. Feels closer to Witcher 3 combat than previous games honestly.

It doesn’t have a lot of monsters compared to some other entries and having to wait through cutscenes before you can play with friends is a major drag. You left yourself vulnerable by healing/sharpening/being stuck in a corner. It happens to me too and it's frustrating, but it's a lesson learned to be more careful next time. Time your heals and sharpens better and avoid fighting in a way that you end up backed into a corner by the monster. I only remember having trouble with her in FU when I played it with my brother years ago.

My memory's fucky I'll admit, I understand why instant attacks are frustrating, but I love the satisfaction of thinking two steps ahead of a monster and being in a position and state where I'm fully prepared to effortlessly dodge such moves and mount a counter attack. World's faster movement speed wouldn't be a problem if monsters were faster too to compensate. Did Iceborne fix the monsters to be more up to speed with the player?

I use (dodogama) HH too but I recently tried out the bagelgoose SA and found it to be an awfully slow weapon to use (especially in sword mode) compared to the HH. I tried fighting the new Tobi-Kadachi sub species with it but it kept on out maneuvering me and clapped my cheeks.

The sa does hit a bit hard but I never feel that OOMPH and it of course doesnt do any KO damage like how the HH does, so its opportunity to get more changes to deal more damage through giving monsters brain hemorrhage induced seizures stacked with spicy musical attack buffs is gone.

It still is a pretty good weapon though, I anally raped dire miralis with it back in MH3U.

I figure I need more practice with it I guess.

I personally want to try out the SnS and see how it goes for me, I used it and the DB back in the ps4 version and loved em, they take forever to grind for though.

It's pretty obvious you just want to complain about people not liking what you like. What makes World shit is the sheer lack of commitment in everything you as a player can do. Every weapon is now more mobile and you're able to move while locked into almost any animation. Using items in combat is no longer punishable because in the worst case you can just cancel out of using them and with the clutch claw, even catching up to the monster is now a mindless button press. And that's just the normal hunting gameplay. At best World is turning the deliberate gameplay of the older titles into in-the-moment gameplay like Devil May Cry. At worst it's casualizing for mass market appeal.

Most people did keep on recommending 4U as starting point, as it's a far better series introduction.

SA is a bit like HH in that the attack and uncancelable recovery time are short for both of them. Try to memorize the combos for dynamically switching modes and learn what animation combos into what. I did not need to install the mobo. I put in the serial number and CHK and then had to send a picture of the barcode and send a picture of the invoice. I do not have the code yet it says that will take some time "might take 7-14 days" but I sincerely doubt it will be even one. That's been one of my main issues with World. You have more tools and are overall faster but monsters didn't get the same upgrades with some exceptions in some of the new monsters. Rajang being built around the player's new abilities is a step in the right direction, I don't like World because it didn't change enough compared to the old games so you have a clashing of two different philosophies, the old game design doesn't mesh well with the new additions, on top of unreedemable crap like the shitty weapon designs and timed event trash to force "retention" in order to sell more DLCs.

I looked more into the Safi'Jiiva fight and I confirmed it with that monster too.

With the Behemoth fight if you hit its head too much you will gain its enmity (aggro) where it will startt to target you and only you and fucking relentlessly too, you would barely have time to heal and I seen people die multiple times while being anally raped by behemoth that way. The thing is if someone doesnt aggro Behemoth it will fuck up everyone and even start to Cast Charybdis which will spawn tornadoes (Like what kushala daora can make) directly on to players in the area.

With Safi'Jiiva you have 3 stages to fight it, the player dealing the most DPS in the 2nd and 3rd stages will gain Safi's Ire which will cause them to get her aggro'ed to them, if you don't have a defensive or an evasion based build you're fucked, simple as that, she can track where you move with her head and cremate your punk ass alive with her laser breath.

It was even worse in the original games when you just collected herbs for 10 quests straight. It always goes like this: Find plants for way too many quests. Then fight small creatures. Then find plants while a way too strong monster is on the map which you have to watch out for. Then fight the large monster version of the small monsters. In MHW you get to the action way faster. If you hate grinding, you won't have much fun anyway, because the fun is the grind.

Myself as an long time MH fan, being used to the first generations restrictions, I was hyped as fuck during the first quests. Exploring the amazing forest map, catching creatures, finding every secret passage, FINALLY in non-PSP or Wii graphics. And I can enjoy the farming, sometimes even more than the grind.

Crit/Vit came from tempered master rank elder farming for crowns. Mr is now i think 240 Hr is 380. I have about 500 hours overall ingame and the attack jewels I think droped from melder, silver ticket shit or mayber elder fights. Possibly from farming lavasioth and shit before iveborne but you get about 5/6 from specific quests anyway.

Like I said they're garbage compared to agitator anyway

Thats why making a high DPS build can sometimes be necessary, especially more so during the endgame.

You can look up speedrunners on youtube or look up metasets and try to copy their sets to the best of your ability.
