So what did /v/ think of the lastest Ryukishi07 production, Ciconia When They Cry or Kikonia No Naku Koro Ni's first phase? It was kind of a slog to read but the ending scene made it all worth it in the end. Music is not as great nor diverse than it was in Umineko, so far only 3 tracks really stuck with me. Slice of life elements were fun and heartwarming but still lacking that feeling Higurashi had.
However I hope that we won't have to hear about the walls of peace anymore.

I love the Ryukishi facial expressions and ham hands, this art is the best of both worlds. Haven't played yet, didn't realize the first chapter came out already. Just checked out the engine, more PONScripter is nice. I'll pirate it soon and if I like it and it's not cucked to hell or anything like that import the nip version because fuck Mangagamer.

I can never tell either, I wonder if he's just a fencesitter that doesn't firmly believe anything politically and just has his characters talk about their beliefs as characterization fluff, nothing strictly relevant to the plot or the message of his work. I believe he once said his method of creating characters involved working out their life story then characterizing them based on that, but then it's kind of weird today when there's explicit political or philosophy shit in something but no message about politics or philosophy in the end. For instance, even Higurashi had some "nationalism bad" talk from Keiichi already in chapter 2 (Japanese version even) but that nationalism saved his ass shortly after. Then there's the fact that fascism literally was the solution to saving everyone in the end, but Ryu's message seemed less political, like friendship, trust, etc. Umineko has a trap but he goes insane in the timeline where he is accidentally castrated and raised as an orphaned servant girl, Beatrice racemixing with Kinzo doesn't turn out well when she dies and he then eventually fucks their daughter who then births said trap. Rose Guns Days was all over the place when I tried the demo but I still haven't finished it so I don't know how it ends up.

Regarding if I'll be continuing to pirate Ciconia, phase 2 will definitely be the determining factor. Also I want to make sure that all the money actually goes between Ryukishi's hands. In your opinion, who are the traitors so far? Even considering the fact that potentially "anyone" could be one due to the whole CPP thing, etc.
