Welcome back! (Unless you were cut in Sword/Shield)
Funniest incompetence you've seen in this so far?
What romhacks you playing instead of this disaster?

Pokémon Company filing lawsuits against leakers is a lovely thing.

Nuzlocking Supernova Sun and Blaze Black. Never expected I'd use Dunsparce.
>What romhacks do you want ?
The lovechild of Crystal Clear's free exploration and Blaze Black / Volt White's balancing on a rom with all 890 pokes.

Feels like Yellow is treated as the black sheep of the series for no reason at all. Even the people who swear up and down that Gen 1 is the only good gen will stick to Red or Blue instead.

It's because Pikachu's too popular, so you're not allowed to like anything associated with him without being what even complete normalfags would consider to be a surface-level fan or whatever.
In other words, this board's attitude towards Charizard or any fire starter, just with Pikachu instead.

From what I remember it was just Red/Blue with the anime plot shoed in. So you play as Ash instead of generic Red trainer, and you are forced to have Pikachu follow you everywhere.

Really, Yellow is the most well designed game. Ignoring the bugs etc. specific to Genwun. It has the most difficulty due to the starter being a weakling, so you need to catch other Pokemon. Even Misty's Starmie cleans up Pikachu, not even kidding.

Probably because it has some influences from the trash anime.
Such as your starter Pikachu being unable to evolve.

It's all over the net. The lawyer claimed "irreparable damages" have been done because of the leaks, and hopes for Discord and 4chan to leak all the data they have over the leakers in order to file a personal lawsuit at them.

The "everything obtainable is legit" is only one of the builds, and not the one I use. That being said, it's because people complain as "we want a hack with easier access to competitive items and reproduction moves but we don't want people to see it coming from hacks". Idiotic, but not surprising.

Pokemon is imbalanced as shit. So many pokemon just don't have the stats, typings, movepools or abilities to be worth using at all. Romhacks like this have the chance to fix that by freely changing all these things and maybe even changing type matchups to make entire types less awful, but instead this cuck decides to leave everything as it is for some retarded legitimacy bullshit.
Who the actual fuck is going to play a romhack with the intent to transfer pokemon over to a real game? Hell, some pokemon still need to be edited to pass checks, and at that point you might as well just make the pokemon from scratch since it needs all the same tools and resources.
I want to play a new game and have to discover new things, not the same fucking game it's been for 20 years but with higher levels.
>That being said, it's because people complain as "we want a hack with easier access to competitive items and reproduction moves but we don't want people to see it coming from hacks".
What kind of sub-reddit tier retard would ask for this?

I understand where you're coming from, but the reason why I'm against all these changes is because I don't trust some random autist with the ability to make a comprehensive mod to know the ins and outs of Pokemon balance to make the needed changes to have everything available be viable. Chances are much higher that he'll just make his favorites super good and ignore the pokemon he doesn't give a shit about.
So I prefer romhacks that leave all of that alone. I don't want to be railroaded into using the modder's favorite pokemon.

While I agree that Gamefreak is incompetent, how is that different from some random incompetent modder who just makes his favorite pokemon overpowered and potentially nerfs your favorite pokemon?
You're just trading one shitty game for another shitty game at that rate. I'd prefer to just have all the pokemon available and use them as I see fit through the game, instead of being at the whims of the modder on who's good and who isn't. At the very least, then I know what to expect from the available pokemon and can build around that, instead of getting blindsided by a random typing change the modder made because he thought, for example "hurr why isnt charizard a dragon type"

All these years later and it still annoys me that you can't start the game with your choice of any first-evo mons. A whole world of almost 1000 species and your professors are always too cheap to be able to access anything over three.

Yeah. Cutting the dex as though they don't have the ability to fit in every single pokemon on top of providing a generation of absolute shit on top of making a game with inferior graphics to previous games.

Some of Drayano's changes were nice ideas (what he did to the Gen 5 starters or Farfetch'd, for example), and his balancing was still leagues better than what, but he's so far the only example of this being done correctly, most changes I've seen thus far are "hurrrr lv120 shadow pokemons" or "durrrrr new mega evos".

The more annoying thing is that nearly every romhack feels the need to stick to this formula too. They all seem to think it absolutely has to be fire/water/grass and nothing else. It gets pretty boring.

The starters don't need to be a perfect triangle, throwing an immunity in there would force you to use something other than your starter, at least in rival battles. It would also allow you to do stuff like Electric/Flying/Ground or Steel/Poison/Ground. Fuck, they don't even need to stick to three starters, give us 10. Or 20, why not?

Nah, they just need to design the region so that you fight types other than Normal, Flying, Bug and Rock before the third gym.

I played around with Double Emerald a bit and for the life of me I do not recommend it. There's poor level curve, full teams on the first gym etc, but most of all it just does not work. There's not enough pokemon available at that point in time (at release of the game, not in-game availability) and there's no conceivable way of knowing what new pokemon/moves/abilities they threw in there since the author of the hack didn't want to tell?. The phy/spec split also just simply makes the game even more of a chore. Having a marshtomp means having shit water coverage. He's much better in the original game, I feel like if you add a phy/spec split you should rebalance everything not leave it unaltered.
All the battles being double requires you to either overlevel or have 2 of each pokemon. The game is nice in theory but too limited in practice. This is my current team, Hitmonlee was a neccesity for Norman. Not sure if I should even continue with the poor balance and all. I had more fun with Gen 6 romhacks and I couldn't even speed up the gameplay on that one. As much as I don't feel like ever touching Sword and Shield. There's interesting pokemon in that meta. I've played some of XG as-well, but all I did, literally all I did, was Helping Hand + one shot everything. Not the biggest fan of XG either as it's terribly slow on my PC.

I do like the idea of having a pure grass/fire/water starter. Though I would prefer my starter Pokémon to get secondary types at second stage. I considered grass/fairy, fire/steel, and water/fighting starters. Though I'm liking the idea of a reverse secondary triangle with grass/fighting, fire/dark, and water/psychic as example.

With seeing how much of a disaster SS really was (and confirming my fears that whatever little development time they had was spent on the Wild Area only for it to not pay off) I've moved up my timetable for my Pokemon fangame idea from "eventually" to "sooner than later". I even wrote up half a game design document, which is way more than I usually get around to (just notes). The problem is I don't really have the skills needed to pull off any part of it, at best I can try to figure out RPG Maker XP and PSDK. I also don't really want to ask for help while having no fucking skills. At least I have the game design document, that will probably convince people I'm serious about the idea at least. I'm hesitant to post it, as I really don't want to spoil anything.
Back on the topic of SS though, I haven't pirated it yet, as I promised myself I would only do it when all the Pokemon were in, and at this point I'll have to rely on hackers for that. Good news is that importing Pokemon from Let's Go seems relatively easy. Bad news is that converting Gen 7 animations and Waifu2x-ing their textures is going to be a real pain. We'll see how that pans out. Another good thing is that Claydol is in the games legitimately, so if I really wanted I can continue my ribbon quest. Here's some fucked up lore for you. Apparently Claydol was created 20000 years ago. Apparently Eternatus came from a meteor that landed 20000 years ago. Eternatus is part poison, which is weak to both ground and psychic. This probably means fucking nothing, but it's amusing how sometimes lore lines up like that.
