What the fuck have you been playing during downtime, anon? Managed to clear off that backlog yet?
My hard bricked and I didn't back up like a fucking sperg I am, losing my vidya and namely my list in the process, so now I'm just going through megawads I promised myself I would finish.
Erik Alm and his love for revenants can eat my fucking ass so far

I just played some escape from tarkov, then quickly stopped again because 10 billion years after beta release it still runs worse than the average ubisoft open world unpatched title

finally got cracked dark souls to work nowhere in the readme did it say to replace two of the files with another two that were hidden somewhere else in the torrent. i beat the asylum demon then got gangboned by skeletons three times in a row. 30FPS cap is really bothering me and it looks like garbage even on max settings, and the mod you can download that fixes everything you need an account on Nexus to download so fuck that

Yeah yeah it's barely a real game, but it is aesthetically gorgeous and a really nice/relaxing way to spend couple of hours, i also love deserts and mysterious ruins especially in deserts so i loved it.
>Drakengard 3
Emulation pretty much solves the fps problem, no ida how bad it was in the original but now it's definitely playable and quite fun i might add, it's certainly flawed, but still has lot's of Taro's goodness and ended up really liking it. Forgive me anons for i didn't beat the final boss and watched the ending on youtube instead. The DLC should've been part of the main game though and the short stories really "enjoyable" for sure too
Just started Drakengard a few days ago NieR next, the gameplay is also not that bad, repetitive as fuck, but with the music it really feels like you're going crazy, and i happen to enjoy that.

Right now, I'm playing Muramasa: The Demon Blade on Dolphin. Before Christmas, I want to play Ace Combat 1, Super Metroid, BoF 1 and maybe 2 and to fit the mood of the season, probably play Parasite Eve ftom Christmas to New Years. I'm also planning out which games I'm going to play in 2020. So far Vagrant Story, the Ogre Battle games (minus the rare Prince of Zenobia game), all the Ace Combat, BoF and Shin Megami Tensei games (up to Zero and BoF5 and all the 5th gen SMT ones that aren't Persona (which I'll just play the first two because they aren't waifu simulators), respectively) and the King's Field/Shadow Tower games. I'm pretty sure that 2020 is the last year I'd be able to do all this (at least for a while), so I just want to get the best vidya experience one possibly could in a year. As you can see, I haven't even begun to start to clear this backlog

I've been playing Session, an early access skateboarding game/simulator. Basically, the controls are like Skate but more complicated, and you're dropped in a small but dense map based off NYC and told to go nuts, plus a few bonus challenges I'll touch on later.
Right now it's only got flip tricks, grinds, and manuals, and it's mostly focusing on street skating. My main problem is that by default, the game's more complex than Skate, but doesn't have any more depth. It uses two sticks instead of Skate's one, but you can waggle them both around willy nilly and the game will automatically catch your trick in midair. Changing the options to manual makes more complex tricks require better timing and a keen eye, justifies the new control scheme, and actually makes the game satisfying to play.
Once you get past that hurdle there's a lovely sandbox to fuck around in. You'll be skating around, memorizing the timing for new tricks, always finding new nooks and crannies to skate in and tricks to nail in sequence. Once you nail it you can save a replay, even though they're a bit primitive right now. Session takes the "make your own fun" aspect that's been around since the later Tony Hawks, and expands on it with great environments and a realistic scope. Pro skaters talk about going to a spot and just chilling there all day trying to get footage, and there's definitely individual stair sets I've grown to know intimately.
But when you don't want to just fuck around, that leads into the bonus challenges I mentioned earlier, and my next problem with the game. Session doesn't tell you the name of a single trick. By default the game has absolutely no HUD. That's fine normally, but the challenges (daily, weekly, and historical), often ask you to do things like "switch trey flips" and "back side overcrooks" without any indication as to the method or means. The historical challenges are hidden, and basically require you to cheat if you're not familiar with skate ads from 20 years ago.
Third major problem: The soundtrack sucks. You heard me, it's a skateboarding game and the soundtrack sucks. It's set in the east coast and not California and they have very different vibes, so I wasn't expecting punk rock or ska or anything, but I was at least expecting some grimy old-school hip hop. You get eight tracks of fucking britbong limey faggot rap, and two emo songs that I never hear because the rapping is so bad. It makes no goddamn sense for the setting and I'm personally insulted by it.
At this point you might ask yourself, "why did this nigger write five paragraphs on an early access game, this shit could change by next week?". You're wrong, because the devs aren't updating the early access build until the xbox version is out, because the game originally premiered at Microsoft's E3. The version I have is the one we're gonna be stuck with for a long while, and they're probably too busy fixing bugs, expanding the map, and adding content to solve all of these problems. Definitely worth a pirate if you're chomping at the bone for Skate 4 (like me), but not something I'd recommend to the average gaymer.

I've added an equal amount of games to my backlog to the games I've beaten. So I'm back to square one. Currently playing through the new Hitman 2 since I got in on sale. The game itself is fucking great. Too bad it's one of those always online games. You can still play the game offline but none of your level mastery progress gets saved which is a fat load of shit. It's roughly on the same level as Denuvo.

I dont have a big backlog right now, and its mostly games I want to play, but haven't bothered much. I have time although im working (temporally), but as always, I either do other stuff (like browsing the net, videos….) or just other games.
Right now, games I am interesed to play are Blasphemous, ATOM RPG, and Age of Wonder planetfall. And I also have intereset, but hard to get the will, to replay Endless Legend, Age of Empire 3, and Warhammer Total War 2.

Not sure if I want to continue with Monster Hunter World, haven't touched it for around an year, I was in the second zone I believe, or maybe the third.

This reminded me that I forgot about The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky, the first game. Completed the tutorial and the first area after that's arc in the summer of 2018. Definitely would like to complete it, but also it already felt like I played through a whole game, while I don't expect gameplay-wise anything new. I remember having just reached the lighthouse.

the backlog IS a meme, and you are NEVER gonna play through half or even a quarter of it unless your a pleb with bottom of the barrel taste so you only have like 3 games in there.
you need to come to terms with this and understand that you're never gonna play ALL the games you want to play for 3 major reasons:
>time
>apathy
>industry never stopping pumping out new shit
even if you did have enough time, just like when you were a kid, to play through them, then your apathy would prevent you from doing so. why pick up a new game from start to finish, spending time and effort learning its mechanics and mastering them, unlocking all the unlockables and endings and secrets and whatnot, when you could just boot up your favorite fps/grand-strat/w-jrpg or whatever the fuck, play it for a couple hours, get the slight dopamine hit you've been craving and be done with it?
and even if you did overcome those two major hurdles, it's a lost race because by the time you go "ok, that was the last of the 7th gen games I wanted to play, time to move on to the current gen" you realise it's been 18 years, you're nearing your 50s, the ps8 is releasing, gaben is dead, VR is now the standard and there's probably a thousands more new games you want to play out there.
you know pink floyd's song "time"?
"and you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking"
same concept.

backlog meme is so dumb. if you want to play a game, you play it, you beat it, and then you're done with it. maybe you'll replay it a couple years down the line but thats it.
i've already played everything i ever wanted to play and the industry just doesn't make good games fast enough to keep up with the speed at which i play through them. so im left with replaying games or going on MMOs.
i'll admit though that the window of games im interested is quite small. i dislike more than i like, i suppose im picky.

Once you get over the hurdle I'd say it's way better. The triggers are put to better use than just grabs, and every input is a lot more precise. Plus when you go back to Skate you realize that game lets you ollie like three feet in the air.
