Last thread was so abysmally made that it got deleted, but the topic has potential since Sseth made his video.
Is there any way I can make a distraction or something to get planetary patrols to leave? Or do I just need a more lightly defended planet to dump all my illegal goods on?

I finished with vanilla a while back and got bored of it. What mods are worth trying to keep things new/fresh?

Did they fix colonies yet? Last time I played the moment you get even the tiniest sliver of market share every other faction starts sending rapefleets at your planet forcing you to sit there and babysit it for weeks or months until it's built up to the point where it has decent defence fleets.

Anyone else think it's weird as fuck that they've been stranded there for 200 years but nobody has built outside of that little core in the center until your player comes along? It's weird that there isn't even a single colonized planet outside of it.

Theres no real guide but my suggestion is to dock in a planet and go to the fleet tab to check your stuff first, then figure out what you will want to do the first half of the game, either bounty hunting ot trading/smuggling, I usually look for systems with pirate bounties to rack up rep and credits, having good standing with factions is never something bad to have, kill luddics on sight, theyre space muslims, check what abilities you have, going full combat may cripple your economic growth and going full utility makes fights really hard

hunt pirates, salvage ships and grow your fleet, modify your ships, kill even bigger ships, do contracts/bounties to get money.
I would avoid going away from the starting sector until you've destroyed a shitload of pirates and get tired of the hegemony's shit.
Personally, i'd hit it up with tri-techyon as their ships are really nice and you can openly buy/sell drugs with them.

Yeah run out of fuel, not pay attention on auto and it lands you next to a black hole, get pushed by a nuetron star, then attacked by pirates, then get pushed again even more due to smaller party then run out of supplies due to it.

In any case, only 15 mb to go

Ok so the tutorial didn't teach me jackshit about combat when I actually engaged, and I'm not sure if I should just invest in aptitude points immediately or get a skill at level 2 considering the freebie points.

I'm talking about starting a new game, it doesn't even give me a tooltip to even hint at what half the screen means. I kicked the pirate's ass by doing absolutely nothing anyways and leveled up.

You can actually disable it for the most part in the config.json. It's still fucking annoying, but now instead of having 2 *mandatory* pirate and pather bases, there can be none. You can also increase the delay before a new one spawns.
I also usually double the battle size limit and tweak the D-mod penalties a bunch. Selling slightly nicked ships for 0.1 times the price is bullshit - there is literally no point to ever recovering any ship unless it is very rare in vanilla. I've made it so recovering D-mods is a slightly higher cost than buying it mint, so now it actually matters.
>start Nexerelin with a Derelict Empire start
>Church starts with four fucking worlds spread out for some reason, I start with hegemony and some derelicters
>go fuck up some derelict worlds
>Hegemony, the little shit, sends me a message all like "WOULDN'T IT BE A SHAME IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO [the base in the same system you just conquered"
>tell them to fuck off
>they send an invasion fleet a few weeks later while I've fucked off to explore
>have to scoot right back and push their shit in
>wait several months to rack up enough money to send a fleet and fuck their shit right back in while repelling invasions both near and far
>finally fuck them up, with the Hegemony being left only one base somewhere else
>but now I have a fleet entirely made up of XIV battleships whereas before I've started with just a large Shadowyards carrier and a pair of tiny AA frigates
>my very presence makes remnants cry
>mfw I invade any battle station
And I wanted to be nice, too. Too bad the majority of diplomatic actions in this game (and many others) just involves being a cunt for no real good reason and getting trapped in a downward spiral of cuntiness.
