Looking at the trainwreck that is the CTR remake and the overall trend in the industry, are battlepasses the new cancer that will replace lootboxes to jew consumers? They've of course been a staple from Valve with Dota 2 for years and were then introduced to every battle royale game out there and now a fucking remake. Can we expect battlepasses to become the next staple in vidya?

I don't even know what a battlepass is.

Here's an example of what the CTR battlepass looks like. Content that you have to buy/grind for during a limited time to force player engagement. They want you to play their game at least some every day. Here's the current Dota 2 battlepass https://www.dota2.com/international/battlepass. They offer a ton of very high tier cosmetics that will never be available again, which forces a lot of players to spend a lot of money due to fear of missing out.

I thought they gave you access to time limited content, but most BRs are so goddamn anemic with content that I struggle to believe that they make unique maps for only limited periods or anything else that would involve effort.

Fortnite generally modifies the existing map in some way and sells you skins and animations.

So, take the cancer of modern cosmetic monetization and then time lock it to force the sheep to grind absurd amounts or pay up? Well that doesn't sounds jewish at all, don't like it then just don't play : ^ >

Add in freemiums too. There's often a shitty f2p battlepass alongside much better verisons that you have to pay for.

The key difference is that all the shit in dota's battlepass is optional. You can still play 100% of dota without dropping a penny on the game.
This form of f2p I have no issue with, and is non-egregious. If other devs followed this model that's fine, but we all know they won't cause they're turbokikes.

CTR: NF is such a joke, it just comes down to a game of who knows the latest exploit. It's embarrassing to see what they're done to CTR.

It's basically an XP bar you fill, usually with specific battle pass related quests and which each level you get some cosmetic or a key to a lootbox or something.
Usually they come in a two tier system where if you don't pay anything, you get table scraps every 3 or so levels and if you do, you get tacky shit every level.

Gacha shit does this religiously. Only difference is you don't pay up front, but you need shell out the big autism bux if you ever hope to get the good stuff before it ends.

Nigger how is it like a lootbox except for that you pay for it? It just replaces RNG with grinding.
