Let's talk about good Rougewhateverthefuckyouwannacallit games. I'm looking for games based around randomly generated content, both RPG-games and otherwise, though I would actually prefer somethign non-RPG. The reason being that I'm going on holidays and would like to have a few video games to pass the time during the more boring moments. I have downloaded Streets of Rogue which is pretty fun, although I do not like the "LOLSORANDUMB" humor. Every map feels like a little sandbox map though, so it kind of feels as if playing a 2D version of Postal 2 every single level, which I really like.

Downwell is really great and I usually can't stand these types of games. The only problem I have with it is that I want more stuff, it definitely needs a sequel. I would love a head to head split screen competitive mode where you race to get down to the bottom and can use your enemy bounce chain combos to summon bullshit on the other guys screen kind of like Tetris or Puyo Puyo.

Then just ask for games with randomly generated content. There is no need to ask for Roguelikes in particular unless you think that is the only thing that defines roguelikes.

I don't know what's so incoherent to you so I can't really answer your rhetorical question.
OP is obviously looking for games for which random generation provides meaningful difference, so for example even if Borderlands is a looter shooter, random weapon generation is just not an important enough aspect that could make an experience different in principle on consecutive playthroughs. Random generation in general is present in most games, but for roguelikes/lites it's the defining feature and that's why it was more convenient for OP to ask for games from those genres in general, than making an abstraction that in the end would still cover the same types of games.

Ah, so you were incapable of understanding the post that I made fully, and yet replied to it. That is amazing considering how short the post was. My post was addressing the need to bastardize the roguelike label even more when randomly generated content (to whatever specifications you desire, retard) is not solely related to roguelikes. Hence no need for "roguewhatever" and complaining passive-aggressively about people who actually give a shit about proper terminology.

There you go. A list of games with procgen that aren't roguelikes. If all you care about is procgen, why would you mention roguelikes? Just say games with random generation and you won't get autism in the thread. People will probably suggest some roguelike games because they have proc gen but it'll be without arguments. You're the problem because you instantly think roguelikes and procgen are the same thing.

Given your explanation it looks like I haven't made any mistake in pointing out that OPs intent has completely flew over your head. Sure, addressing the part where OP specifically asked for games based around randomly generated content where you've read it as just games with randomly generated content - would make for a better reply, but given your stance I doubt it would've changed anything in the end.
>randomly generated content (to whatever specifications you desire, retard) is not solely related to roguelikes
Assuming you imply roguelite under that terminology as well, what are other genres that would be based around randomly generated content in general. And assuming there is a more convenient way of naming the type of games that OP is requesting, how is he wrong in his attempt of dodging semantic arguments and going straight to business? It's like you ignored that entire part and came specifically to argue about a cherry picked issue, making OP justified in complaining about retards like you.
>>16754239
I don't think that people don't agree on what is and what's not a roguelike, I think people that find the term roguelite derogatory just don't want to agree that the roguelike they are playing is a roguelite, and when that happens, people that try to pin them on that issue fumble with definitions and eventually fail at making a case, because their true intent was about labeling things that they don't like instead of making a proper term.

No, it hasn't.
From Op:
<Let's talk about good Rougewhateverthefuckyouwannacallit games.
Which is passive aggressive bitching about the arguments started over what qualifies as a roguelike. Then OP goes on with:
<I'm looking for games based around randomly generated content, both RPG-games and otherwise, though I would actually prefer somethign non-RPG.
Then OP went on and talked about Streets of Rogue, which was irrelevant to the content of my posts. Now, don't you feel like a retarded nigger?
>Assuming you imply roguelite under that terminology as well, what are other genres that would be based around randomly generated content in general.
Games with randomly generated content, which could be from any genre. 7 Days to Die for example which is a first person survival crafting game (or was, but has turned to shit.) Definitely not a roguelike/roguelite. Asking for games with randomly generated content doesn't require even acknowledging the fighting over what qualifies as a Roguelike/Roguelite.
You can ask for games with features found in roguelikes without starting an argument over the definition of roguelikes. You can't do that when you address rogue specifically in the OP.

The entirety of OP's post doesn't have to be relevant to anything that I post. I addressed part of the OP's post. I am starting to think that you might actually be retarded since you have a hard time with reading comprehension. I said the part of OP's post that I was quoting had nothing to do with what I had posted earlier, because it didn't. It's debateably a ass-lite but Sundered sorta hits the same notes. It's much more metroidvania then otherwise, but one of it's gimmicks is that a majority of the map is procedural generated, and instead of static monster spawns, they tend to rush at you in small groups or hordes. There is a meta progression of sorts, which is grabbing currency from dead enemies and breakables in the environment to up your stats, which actually makes a noticeable difference, but I've yet to feel the need to grind because death isn't a super bad consequence, just forcing you back to the starting zone and resetting the random rooms.
The game also is just fucking amazing looking, and feels really smooth to play minus a few things. It's less geared towards pick up and play style, as there is a real progression to it, but might be up your ally.

No matter how you look at it that's a non-sequitur since:
1) see previous point;
2) the part where he starts talking about SoR wasn't relevant to either of our posts.
>You can ask for games with features found in roguelikes without starting an argument over the definition of roguelikes.
But if one expects that the majority of games with features requested would fall in the outlined genres and also believes that any discussion revolving said genres would end up in the argument, then what's the point of tiptoeing around the issue?
You still didn't show how it's inconvenient of OP to mention rogue, more than that in your opinion it's futile of OP to try to circumvent the issue in the way that he tried. You didn't show the need in your initial response for why OP should do as you've stated and then didn't concede when the points were revolving around the context where you've deliberately stated that your recommendation doesn't work. That's why I was extremely skeptical about a possibility that in your further replies you would not approach this dishonestly and in turn didn't really bother in making a proper reply.
