As for me, I’d put it in the mid tier of games

It brought the game back to form, but didn’t quite do it as well as 9 or get as good as some of the previous games in the series. It also felt fairly bare bones as there weren’t any secret boss fights or characters that showed up. It was fun if you didn’t use the speed gear and it would have been nice if they got rid of it for something a bit more useful and interesting.

I also wasn’t a fan that several of the stages had those “moving” segments when older games usually only used that on one stage. Other than that, the boss fights were fun, the powers were neat, and there was some good music here and there (the Wily stage theme being the best)

MM 11 sounded so much better when you slide the VO volume bar to zero. That said I agree with the other anon. They really should take a page from MM 6 and give us alternative routes, true/fake robot masters and super armor for the good bois that explore the levels and play the game well.

11 is pretty high-tier. Have an autism text wall:

>weapon wheel and Rush hotkeys take actual advantage of modern controllers so you don't have to constantly pause

>consistently useful weapon set

>fun boss fights if you don't just blast them with super duper weapons

>3D graphics look decently good and don't fuck with platforming like they usually do

>neat level gimmicks

>beats the shit out of 10

<slightly bland music and weak sound effects

<only two castle stages with just one original boss

<8 main stages are slightly too long

<shitty run animation

<you're slightly too wide, making low ceilings and one-block-wide passages more of a pain than they should be

<hard mode fucks with the balance. There are no item pickups, so instead you get enough bolts to buy out the entire shop in two or three stages

<non-consumable shop items are basically worthless, like the non-slip boots when there's only one ice level

<could've used DLC, specifically a Roll mode and extra challenge stages

<climbing ladders is really slow for some reason

My favorite hack is the one that lets you jump out of a slide in 6 it's that big of an issue among other things like using the select button to swap weapons and armors. https://borokobo.web.fc2.com/

Minus Infinity is the most impressive but I think the constant gimmicks get in the way of the regular gameplay's fun factor.

11 was SHIT! The stupid speed/power gear gimmick ruined all fun and challenge from the boss fights, thus necessitating every stage be WAY too long to compensate the difficulty a bit. And screws dropped like candy so you could buy the store out instantly on everything including consumables further trivializing the game.

The weapons were cool though. All of them were actually pretty useful.

It's on Maverick Hunter X levels of ugly, except in the PS2. It's literally how not to make a 3D game, let alone a sequel to one of the prettiest 2D games in 16-bits and PS1.

Even if it was a rushed mess and the nightmare stuff is shitty, is not half as bad as X7 and X8.

Speaking of which. Megaman Powered Up is how you actually make a remake of megaman, AND a 3D megaman. It's jarring how in Megaman 11 Megaman is this small child like robot while everyone else if a fucking killing machine. I give you that this have been present since Megaman 6, but the NES graphics helped, while it's even more noticeable in Megaman 7 and 8.

Overall, Mega Man 11 was a good entry to the series. I was expecting another Mighty No 9 disaster but no, it was quite fun and creative. My biggest problem with it was probably only the dialogue and voice acting. Have you ever watched Ben 10 or any other recent Cartoon Network show? Yeah, it sounds about as grating as that. Their voice actors can't pull off punny lines without it sounding absolutely corny. The designs of the Robot Masters look badass, but the second they open their mouths and say something cheesy is when I start to groan internally.

The only good thing I can say about MM11's voice acting is that it wasn't as god fucking awful as MM8's was. Passable voice acting at best.

If I had to rank MM11 against other numbered entries.

I don’t think I minded the charge shot as much as you did, but I agree that it definitely wasn’t the best addition as it made enemies become more spongey to damage which slowed the game down quite a bit. Still, I like all the powers and rush forms in 6 and 7 and appreciate how they let you creatively tackle levels. I always feel like megaman is at its best when it gives you tools to solve some monotonous parts in the levels, it’s why I fucking adore the platform beam in 1 so much.

In Megaman 1 most robos were designed like rock and had similar height, except maybe for gutsman, but most of them looked similar to rock. And it continues until Megaman 6 where the robot masters were actual killing machines. There were always some robot masters that looked "adult" or with different proportions, but were mostly the exception than the rule.

What I liked about powered up is that all the robot masters have the same proportions as Rock.

I just remembered I spent way too long fixing up 7 demake Roll thing's graphics (they're all BMPs). The intro graphics are touched up, most of the special weapon costumes are edited for consistency with Powered Up/the base Roll sprite and/or to look better, and there's now a proper ending animation to replace Mega Man's. Beat also looked fucked up for some reason. Considering that Roll and Tango have never been on-screen together, Rush is reinstated as well. The game now uses version final2 of the base game instead of final, whatever the difference is.

It's not perfect, mind you, but the tranny nigger didn't do a flawless job in the first place. Also don't look up the guy who originally made it.

X8's level design is too gimmicky for my taste. There isn't a straight forward platforming level, it's all

Not to mention this time the game has to account for three characters that play completely differently so no shit the level design is ass.

One thing I really remember boiling my blood is the fact that all the bosses in X8 seemed to have incredibly long recovery times. In fact I might be misremembering this but they all had attacks that made them invincible for the duration.

X8 is kind of shit for the reasons you mentioned. My favorite part was doing the whole snowmobile level to have X and Zero get an upgrade right above the boss door, then having to do the entire level again to have Axl glide directly to the left to get another upgrade. My second-favorite part was playing on Hard where you die in two hits because I mistakenly thought that was the only difficulty where you can fight the real final boss, who's invincible 90% of the time for no reason like every other boss and has an instant kill attack at the very end.

I used to do this with Jet Stingray because it required no extra skills and Jet Stingray himself was incredibly easy to cheese.

MM7 was like the best of both worlds from classic MM and X, plus the final Wily fight, while fucking hard, was really fucking fun when you realized how his bullets worked and easy ways to dodge them.

The issue with 8 is that it takes some steps back from 6 and 7 and tries to lean more towards the PS1 X series but ends up being a neutered X game. They nerfed the slide so that it’s pointless to use, the “jump jump, slide slide” missions aren’t terribly fun, and in general it’s just slower than the other games. There’s some fun to be had there though. I’d say MM is one of those series where even the worst games are still fun.

Battle Network is about as far away as possible from an RPG as you can get while still calling it an RPG, really it's closer to a card game but with an active battle system. The only permanent upgrades you can get after the second game are HP upgrades, upgrades that give you more freedom to choose what chip you use in the start of a battle, and the ability to transform into different forms by fulfilling certain conditions depending on the game. Everything else you have to pick and choose what to utilize, even the latter has a time limit and in the 4th and 5th games you have to discard a chip in order to use them at all.

But done wrong. Speeders ran at an speed that gave you enough time to react, and as far as I remember, had far less insta death instances, on top of being fairly short. The Megaman 8 one is the contrary of all of that. And I say it's convoluted not only for the actions your take but things from the timing to the insta deaths, which makes going through them a matter of muscle memory.

It's pretty good. Level design is fine and bosses are fun to fight. Only issue is instead of gaining unique weapons from bosses you collect a bunch of chips that allow you to make your own (adjusting shot type, ammo, how bullets react when they hit like bouncing or blowing up etc, theres a ton of customization). If you play around with it there's a lot of fun to be had but a lot of people will just find an optimal set up to kill everything easily. Set bullet duration to .2 seconds, autofire 15 bullets a second, maximum bullets allowed on screen, dissipate on hit, with the highest damage multiplier you can handle. This makes a very close range melta gun that will burn through almost anything in the game damn near instantly as nothing gets mercy invincibility.

If you're not feeling the games, at the very least try out 3 or 6 and see if your opinion changed. 3 because it has a plot that's a bit deeper than the usual monster-of-the-week stuff and has a post-game that's as long as the main game. 6 because partway through the game due to plot you absorb the final boss of the game, and you spend the rest of the game marveling at how powerful you've gotten as you tear every boss a new asshole. Literally one of the worst, most boring, disappointing, unsatisfying games I've ever played with such a promising cover. That was pretty much my problem too. Playing as a boss sounds exciting but it isn't practical and the use is so limited it might as well just be a gimmick. I agree that somehow upgrading model A and give it new abilities would have been great. I also found really unsatisfying playing with the other models because, in the end of the day, you are playing as a copy of the user, and not using the biometal on itself. So you are not using model ZX, you are using Aile/Vent using model ZX, and that's fucking shit.

I'm guessing that they wanted to use Model A copy gimmick to use the other models without actually taking the biometal out of the users like you did in the original ZX. However, I think the gimmick could have been handle better.

For example, I would have put model A copying bosses, cool and all, but I would also make it so that copying other models would have give Ashley and Grey special properties instead of just fucking copy it. Additionally, I would have make it so that the ZX model did the same, after all, transformations in ZX were ZL, ZH, ZF and ZP, and as so, model ZX could have gained the ability to transform into different models without actually having the model itself. And ON TOP of that, also play as the other models on itself.

Basically, make using model A in an interesting way. Hell, getting bosses abilities should have boosted Model A's owns abilities would have been neat. ZXA was simply lazy.

About the only good thing ZXA did was giving us a muscle brown woman, because even Model L is a fucking boy now.

Oh yeah, if you use the Virtual Console patches for the GBA versions of 2 and forward you can get chips that you only receive from multiplayer, and anything else you can't get from the base game. Most of them are not balanced for normal use so I'd only use them during postgame or your second playthrough. Don't play the Blue version of 3 unless you intend to abuse Folderback which is the most overpowered chip in the entire series. It's disgusting how much it breaks the game. Chaud is a faggot.

For me, 9 failed in trying to be MM2 and not even achieving that. It feels like a step back in terms of mechanics and design, there are some bullshit elements, and sometimes it's too difficult than it has any right to be when you're playing for the first time (I know you die a lot when you play a game for the first time, but, i dunno, in this game sometimes it felt like the game expected me to know what to do despite giving me no clues at all). The only good thing about MM9 is the music and graphics.

In regards to MM11, I used the speed gear quite often and the bosses still felt challenging. You're limited in how much of the gears you use and the recharge time after overheating is long, so you can't rely on them too much.

It plays really nice and looks really nice, BUT the level designs are pretty uninspired and not terribly challenging. OST can be surprisingly good at times. Watch a video or two of the gameplay and see if it’s something you can get into.

Right now the Switch version is the best so if you have that option go that route.

The problem was conman retarded approach. First, he wanted to westernize games, and it could work, the problem is that he still saw it with Japanese eyes. So instead of actually trying to make japanese games more attractive to western games by making japanese culture approachable and mixing both west and japan, he pretty much got rid of absolutely everything japanese and apped western stereotypes into games.

Add that to rushing games left and right, with a bunch of unfinished games inbetween, including Megaman X5 and X6 and you'll have a shit stained legacy.

Indirectly, yes. The japanese counterpart was a pretty interesting game, even if not stellar. But the western release got a shit ton of cut content, name and story changes just to fir a western audience because the game had heavy japanese story into it, and the worst part was the Devil May Cry tackled in. One last thing since I'd like to get this off my chest, if you'd like to know exactly how different of a game X5 becomes with unarmored X, I suggest you fire up the game and play Duff Mcwhalen's stage once with the Force armor and once with unarmored X. What used to be a shitty, slow and pathetically boring autoscroller becomes a pretty intense and deadly fight.

X games surprisingly don't have any good ones besides the Zero Project for X3, which is more like an unofficial patch. There is X1 generations which seems to redo the level design, but none of the bosses are changed and all of the tiles are ugly squares. There is a Kaizo hack of X4 available, but can only be done on PC with specific conditions:

X1 also has Hard Type, a kind of Kaizo edit that's easier to run than X4 Boost:

I blame that there's no tools available for any of the X games like SMILE has, having multiple games doesn't help for deciding which one has the best features and focusing ASM edits on that one game. But for a traditional romhack experience, go for Rockman CX.
