Wolfenstein 2009 had this as well but it was decently done, this game has asinine level gating as well as bugs that spawn missions which tell you to go to areas you cannot possibly fight enemies in due to your numbers not being high enough. It also has an arbitrary and atrocious dual type armor system that you would see in games like Mass Effect 2 and 3 or Destiny, except where those games had clearly marked colored health bars telling you which type of weapon to use, this game has tiny white squares that are barely decipherable in the heat of combat.

2009 is a genuinely fun game, in my opinion at least. In fact I'd venture to say that Youngblood was inspired by it, but they're like Goofus and Gallant in how far apart they are in execution.

Youngblood has most of its missions as boring "get this thing" or "kill that dude" objectives in the hub map. 2009 has separate maps for almost all of its missions, relegating the hub area to just that– a hub area.

Youngblood makes almost no reference to previous characters other than B.J. 2009 has a reimagined and badass Hans Grosse as the final boss.

It has the flaws that every modern FPS has and that I hate, like realistic movement and regenerating health, but it still has a good enough level of detail that makes me like it.
