The game has released and to the surprise of many it is seemingly entirely unmolested by (((localizers))) this time. The overall quality is probably subjective to your general view on Fire Emblem, but I think most would agree it's at least a step up from the previous nuEmblem games, if nothing else. For those of you playing it:
>Which house did you join?
>Who are you s-supporting?
>Who are you poaching?
>Who are you pairing up?
>Who are you absolutely killing?
>What are you classing everyone as?
>Are you having fun?
Of course, any other Fire Emblem talk is free game too.

Not playing it because I don't have a Switch yet, but if its better than Echoes I'd be surprised; beating Awakening or Fates is not an accomplishment whatsoever
Didn't they make the option for every character to have romantic relations with you, therefore making every character homosexual/bisexual?
And doesn't it still have all the cancerous mobage elements and "interaction" bullshit ?

No. There are five yuri options and one fag option. The yrui options just swap the pronouns too, so it's not like they're all that lesbian anyway. There are a couple of a-rank paired endings for certain girls that are pretty gay, though.

So ask some specific questions. As for what FE game it's most like? Honestly, I don't really know. It does a lot of things differently. I don't think there's a clear cut example of which FE game it's most like, especially in terms of how it plays.

Not as bad as I thought considering the headlines like pic related I was seeing fly around, but still fairly cancerous. I can't imagine the writing being good as a result.
If you want some questions, here:
How impactful is the weapon triangle and how powerful are supports? Are there any things like pair-up from Nu-Emblem? How would you describe the map design? What is actually "good" about this game? How much pandering is there to the fujoshit/tumblr shipping crowd? Is the story and dialogue more "modernized" in terms of writing such as Awakening or traditional like FE7? Are the usual character archetypes present such as the Jeigan and whatnot, does it do anything new or unique in that regard if it doesn't?
How challenging is it? Can you just grind your main character and their S-support and win with pretty much just those 2?
Is there a big disparity in terms of power between magic and physical weapons?

Yes. Treehouse did not localize it. NoE did. In faact, Cuck Merigos and his cohorts haven't seemingly been allowed to touch another game since Fates. Man what does it say about TD when everyone who participated seems convinced it's impossible they made a difference?

>The "My Castle" shit in Fates where you place buildings and plants and wait for daily shit (or after every map, I forget but there's little difference to me) to pick up items and plants and other complete cancers and abominations.
No. There is no dailies or decorating or anything like that. You can walk around the monastery, talk to people and do activities to raise support and stats. There are a few minor fetch quests. There's no "mobage" mechanics at all.
>How impactful is the weapon triangle and how powerful are supports?
Like echoes, the triangle is gone. Some weapon types still have an edge over other types, though, like bow for flying etc. Supports give you a little boost I guess? I haven't noticed it much. The whole Fates/Awakening pairing unites to turn them into unstoppable juggernauts is gone.
>How would you describe the map design?
Not great, not terrible.
>What is actually "good" about this game?
Honestly, the best thing is the setting and story. It's been a long time since FE game a shit about worldbuilding and cared about characters outside of "is a waifu."
>How much pandering is there to the fujoshit/tumblr shipping crowd?
Not much. Most of the content is pretty vanilla. I think some of the male/male a supports get a little gay sounding, but I don't plan on doing any of them and you don't have to either.
>Is the story and dialogue more "modernized" in terms of writing such as Awakening or traditional like FE7?
Depends on who's talking. But it doesn't go full on modern slang if that's what you mean. I guess I'd call it "neutral?"
>Are the usual character archetypes present such as the Jeigan and whatnot, does it do anything new or unique in that regard if it doesn't?
I'd say the game does a pretty good job of letting the characters grow well beyond their first impression. Some of them less so, but quite a few of them have good stories.
>How challenging is it? Can you just grind your main character and their S-support and win with pretty much just those 2?
Not hard at all, especially with Lunatic not out yet. You cannot infinitely grind on the "hard" difficulty (which is basically normal), on days where you choose to battle (you essentially have three or so "free days" a month where you can do battles, explore the monastery and do activities, listen to lectures to up stats or rest) you have a certain amount of them you can do based on your professor level.
>Is there a big disparity in terms of power between magic and physical weapons?
it all depends on what you're attacking. Magic tends to melt armor, but seems less effective against lighter units. Mages are also slow as fuck.
>I remember seeing shit in promos a while ago involving soldiers with your forces, is that just a cosmetic difference, or are soldiers actually involved in the game?
Equipping a battalion to a character raises some stats (and lowers other in some cases) and gives you access to a "gambit" when is basically a strong move you can use that has different effects, like preventing the enemy you attacked from moving next turn or giving a buff to nearby allies.

Gaiden is literal trash, it has the EXACT same problem as awakening. It has shit maps. Fates Nohr route had actual memorable, enjoyable maps.
I don't fucking understand it, it's like people just get engrossed in the polish of Echoes and forget it is supposed to be a game. Most of the maps are bland, open maps that you just bash unit stats together in. Three houses is the same, I'm up to chapter 7 and the actual gameplay has been a snoozefest.

>How impactful is the weapon triangle and how powerful are supports?
The weapon triangle has been replaced by a flanking system. Supports are strong but not nearly to the degree they have been in the 3DS games.
>Are there any things like pair-up from Nu-Emblem?
From what I can tell the only way to pair up is permanent, i.e. if you use the special option to "pair up" you can't unpair mid-map and the paired unit doesn't gain stats, just a chance to get extra damage or avoid an attack.
>How would you describe the map design?
I'm not too far into it yet, but I would say it's about on par with FE7, for good or for bad.
>What is actually "good" about this game?
The writing is much better than in the past. Characters are not tropes on sticks like in Awakening and Fates. There is dual audio. The devs have said they will be adding higher difficulties to enhance replayability.
>How much pandering is there to the fujoshit/tumblr shipping crowd?
Very little.
>Is the story and dialogue more "modernized" in terms of writing such as Awakening or traditional like FE7?
Much more like the traditional style of Echoes.
>Are the usual character archetypes present such as the Jeigan and whatnot, does it do anything new or unique in that regard if it doesn't?
No Jeigan, but I can't say if other archetypes don't show up later in the game. The unique thing about units in 3H is the way you can choose their class in the school portion of the game - essentially instead of reclassing you make them into what you think they would be best at.
>How challenging is it? Can you just grind your main character and their S-support and win with pretty much just those 2?
Hard mode is decently challenging without grinding so far. Like I said, they are adding higher difficulties.
>Is there a big disparity in terms of power between magic and physical weapons?
No. Magic is now extremely limited in uses and it depends on your class how many you get per map.
>I remember seeing shit in promos a while ago involving soldiers with your forces, is that just a cosmetic difference, or are soldiers actually involved in the game?
You can assign battalions to units and they have various effects (buffs or debuffs to hit, crit, avoid, etc). They also level up separately from the unit. They have requirements similar to weapon ranks to use, and they also have unique effects (one gives units in an area in front of the user +5 movement for example). These special abilities are limited in uses, and enemies can also use them. There is more to the mechanic but that is the gist.

I'll field what I can. Got the game as a gift, and about five hours in, but haven't really been able to dig into the systems because the NEET life is an unattainable dream for me.
>How impactful is the weapon triangle and how powerful are supports?
By default, the weapon triangle is weak to the point of almost being nonexistent. An advantaged weapon generally gets a tiny accuracy (and maybe speed) bonus. As you level up your skills, however, you'll get abilities that define the weapons a little more (lances/axes/swords get specials early on that do double damage to horse/armor/flying units, respectively). Maybe counters get harder from there, but I can't say.
>Are there any things like pair-up from Nu-Emblem?
Supposedly, there's an "adjunct" system later that lets you pair units up to share experience or something. I haven't seen it. What I have seen is
>I remember seeing shit in promos a while ago involving soldiers with your forces, is that just a cosmetic difference, or are soldiers actually involved in the game?
battalions, which are basically mobs of mooks you attach a character to as an officer. Mechanically, they give you stat tweaks (early on, that manifests as a minor bonus to accuracy, damage, defense, etc), as well as access to gambits, which are limited-use (but replenished for free between battles) special attacks that scale off of Authority, which levels just like a weapon skill, but governs effectiveness of attached troops.
>How would you describe the map design?
So far, most maps have felt like identifying chokepoints and trying to exploit them by baiting the enemy into rushing headlong into my designated high-def punching bag, then counterattacking with the rest of my army and whittling down their ranks. Again, I'm still relatively early in the game, though I've run into at least one fog gimmick battle already.
>What is actually "good" about this game?
Your mileage may vary on this, but I know at least one person who's hooked on the Persona-esque calendar system mixed with exploration and talking to everyone. I'm not as sweet on it as she is, though I will admit that the game does a good job of throwing mutually-exclusive choices at you that force you to actually make decisions, and I admit interest in wanting to find a way to optimize my scheduling to turn my ragtag team of spoiled nobles into an unstoppable murderball. The RPG side of the game feels pretty well-developed thus far in terms of room for growth in a character, and the game certainly has a number of mechanics all at work under the hood, though I'm frustrated in how slowly it's drip-feeding them to me.
>How much pandering is there to the fujoshit/tumblr shipping crowd?
As far as I can tell, the protag is the only character who can S-rank anybody. I'm not sure if other characters are limited to only one A-support per game, but if not, that means that you don't really have to worry about playing matchmaker for anyone but yourself, and good riddance to that. I liked the designs in the GBA games or even Awakening better, with a few exceptions. Supposedly, they went with the new artist to appeal to fujos, but if so, it backfired, because the girl I know who fits squarely in the post-Awakening FE fan camp can't stand the new art.
>Is the story and dialogue more "modernized" in terms of writing such as Awakening or traditional like FE7?
Somewhere between, so far. There's a hint of Awakening-era chatter, but nothing outside the expected for a game trying to run the school slice-of-life atmosphere. The adults, at least, haven't started acting like retards except as necessary to advance the plot. Nothing blatantly Tumblr so far.
>Are the usual character archetypes present such as the Jeigan and whatnot, does it do anything new or unique in that regard if it doesn't?
No Jeigan. There's still the usual "this guy is clearly meant to be role X" characters, but the game's hidden talent system allows a certain amount of flexibility in that regard (there are built-in abilities that let blue team's obvious-swordmaster and obvious-cavalier to transition into mages with a little autism).
>How challenging is it? Can you just grind your main character and their S-support and win with pretty much just those 2?
Haven't tried that. Playing on Hard/Classic, it's seemed easier than FE7, but that might be because I was a complete shitter when I first played FE7. On Hard, I haven't found any ways to grind without advancing the story yet.
>Is there a big disparity in terms of power between magic and physical weapons?
Mages get a big boost to the power curve early on since spell availability is tied directly to skills. If you want weapons past steel-grade, you need to wait until the game provides them to you, but if you rush A-rank spellcasting, your mages will learn their spells for "free" as part of their advancement. Mages still beat heavy-armor types. Pegasus-types still beat mages.

True. However anyone who has an a rank with someone else has a paired ending with that character, so you absolutely can pair characters up. I see several people here like >>16743234 >>16743213 are picking up or have picked up Lysithia. She needs a paired ending with Lindhard or Hanneman to live because of having two crests. Does this mean that the game follows the older games' practice of restricting a party member to a single A rank? The way you've phrased it, either one A-rank locks both characters out of any others or you potentially have endings where everyone ends up with a half-dozen spouses.

From what I've read they actually put effort into the story and a less ballsy Geneology of the Holy war which is probably the best we can hope for in that department. In terms of gameplay it's still FE on babby mode which sucks because even if you wanted to support the game for attempting to go back to its roots you might be giving the devs the idea that Babby Emblem is the right course of action.
>>16742897
Echoes' maps are fine. The game's challenge lies in giving you difficult formations of enemies to pull apart for Alm route and difficult to traverse maps in Celica Route. It's the sort of game where the enemy phase is when you should be dealing the majority of your damage and if you played them with a focus towards efficiency they're pretty fun since enemies are always laid out in a way that they check on another and can kill a unit rather easily in a two or three attacks (on hard mode at least but who plays normal?). Pull them apart one by one like someone who can't think 2-3 turns ahead and you'll naturally finish on turn 20+ like the little scrub you are.

Here's where I have to question your tastes. The 3 GBA games were very boring overall and that includes map design. FE8 had some good maps but everything else about that game was phoned in and it shows. The game with the best maps and overall design (taking into account item locations pacing and such) is FE 12/3 and on lunatic FE12 is a blast. Too bad it sold poorly and Intelligent Systems got the message and decided creating games catering to teenage girls should be the focus of their games for the next decade.

>boring and bad with poor map design
FE7 is pretty much universally liked by pretty much all parts of the fanbase that actually played it. There isn't much to criticize in it and you're going against the grain for disliking it, your tastes are definitely more questionable than anyone who liked FE7, that's for sure.
FE8's map design is irrelevant if the game is so easy that everything is made to be inconsequential, including map design.
7's map design was pretty good to great and its balance with everything on HHM makes it quite satisfying, challenging and fun to go through while also being great for people newer to SRPGs on ENM, I dunno what you're on about there.

Argument ad populum. Millions loved Skyrim that doesn't make it better than entries that sold less. Also, I never said bad but "boring." The majority of maps were variations of open plains with forests with small groups of enemies littered about. There were some good ones like the Lyn's recruitment map where you actually had to watch out for aggro range of multiple archers and maches and the maps did get more interesting late game but you have to deal with sparsely populated plains for 80% of the game and it's so very, very boring
>You mean like every fucking Fire Emblem game? This statement means fucking nothing.
You way to pick out a sentence and ignore the rest of the paragraph. In echoes not only do you deal more damage than other games but you're dealing with more enemies each enemy phase because of their distribution. In GBA FE games you really only had to deal with the closest group. In Echoes Alm routeyour starting position and the enemy distribution is designed in a way where you able to tackle all of them at once. Even in Celica's route the enemy's phase is still more important than other games because not only you do the same as in Alm's route but you but there's an emphasis on baiting charging enemies into because of restricted movement and closed off paths

I remember pretty much every map from FE7 as I love that game to literal death, and very, very few of them were just "plains with forests and small groups of enemies". If you said FE6 you'd be a little more correct, but not by much but that game had plenty of other problems anyways.
Let's look at the non-"plains" maps first
>Hector's first map
>Castle map where you have to defend against Euban's mercenaries
>Map directly after you recruit Lyn and take back the castle
>gaiden map with the pirates
>The ship map where you have to defend against Nergal's forces attacking from literally all sides
>The dread isle map where you fight marquess Laus
>the sekrit HHM gaiden map immediately after with the fog of war and shit
>The next map after that which is a fog of war village map after you get back from the dread isles
>The map after that where you fight in the "middle" castle and have to defend against the mercenaries for the last time
>The next map which is the desert map with Pent and Hawkeye
>The gaiden Map after that where you fall into some ruins or some shit with the magic seal
>The (alternating pair of) maps where you infiltrate the black fang's headquarters
>Battle Before Dawn
>The gaiden chapter after that with the water temple
>The MC's "trial" chapter to obtain their weapon
>Ostia's Castle Defense chapter where Lord Nergal has a Message for You
>The last gaiden chapter involving the magic seal (iirc)
>the final chapter
I don't feel like I need to explain what's unique, good and fun about those chapters, as that would be fucking tedious and a full-game fucking analysis, but let's look at the ones that you "could" call plains chapters. I'm excluding Lyn mode shit for obvious reasons. (Will take a second post since this is too long)

>Eliwood's first chapter
Its w/e, a very basic chapter to the point where I don't even count it
>Hector's second chapter
Half the map was forest and mountain, with some forts sprinkled in, but you were put in a tough situation because your forces are separated, and apart from Marcus and Oswin they are weak and vulnerable and there's a reasonable amount of bandits and pegasus knights coming from the east side of the map, along with a moving boss. A good amount of enemies and its tough enough at the start of HHM, and for new players it's challenging enough.
>The succeeding chapter where you reach Marquess Helman's castle
The village in the top left, the choke in the mid-east along with the very narrow branch paths make it a tough map to handle while succeeding at everything and not losing any units. Not to mention the risk of Guy, and the fact that the forts produce heavy amounts of units
>Chapter 13x (Merlinus recruitment chapter
This is a very good one. Fog of war everywhere, you have to protect a fragile target. A high-value village in the top right, a boss that might be worth tackling for experience in the left side, a huge amount of nomads and just in-general tough units from the left and north, dangerous units all around and heavy amounts of bandits producing from 3 forts in the southeast, along with a time limit and the fact that the units are tough enough to kill Marcus if there is enough of them, along with the fact that anyone with a brain can tell advantage terrain such as forests were placed very carefully, and the branch paths also make it difficult to deal with, especially in the fog of war.
Chapter 14 where you take down Erik can be called a "plains map" with a little bit of forest, but to say its boring or has few enemies is pretty shitty. It has a ton of enemies, side objectives on 2 hard parts of the map to reach, one of which is a powerful recruitable character, and the other is as well (but the dude is fragile and can kill himself if you don't get there fast) along with pirates threatening the villages and your lance-wielders and swarms of fliers and dangerous units literally everywhere and spawning. Its a full-on ambush, I don't know how enemy volume can be complained about here at least, and the narrow pathways and forest placements were also deliberate here too; from the start every placement and decision you make
Chapter 15 is the Lyn recruitment mission which you did praise.
Chapter 18 is more a forest map to me than a plains map, and there are plenty of enemies, fog of war, and an extremely dangerous boss along with kamikaze fliers that can fuck up any non-axe wielding unit (And even an axe wielder if more than 3 of them are able to attack him, purely because steel lances are powerful in the hands of enemies that don't mind being expendable to get a hit off on someone)
Chapter 18x is more forest than plains, has plenty of fliers, mages and shit spawning and can easily ruin your day if you aren't careful, along with bonus objectives like killing the Magic seal and stealing/obtaining the valuables
Chapter 23A is split by a huge mass of water, a village on the left, it can hardly be called a "plains" mission, its very unusual, its more like a dock mission and its challenging enough to deal with due to the way the enemy spawns, where the stuff of value is, the choke points being carefully placed, and Geitz who you'd want to snag along with the possible secret shop
23B is a good mission too. Fog of war, mountain separation, side objectives (i.e. villages) being in awkward places that require movement through chokes or risk of flying through ballista fire, the recruitable character (Wallace) moving around, the shops you'd want to take advantage of, the dangerous moving boss Lloyd who can fuck up your day, or fuck himself up and kill himself too early if you are somehow strong enough to withstand him, and you miss out on getting shit you might want, the bombardment of units from the start, the fort placement being deliberately within dangerous range of literally everything from the north
Chapter 24, where you defend against Vaida, is a good map. I don't need to defend it. Tough set of circumstances, tough side objectives to get; tough, swarming enemies from all sides, Merlinus in a tough spot, etc.
Chapter 25 is more a chapter to get Farina's levels up than anything else, I'd just call it cute.
(Fuck's sake apparently I need a 3rd post)

Cog of Destiny is just a fucking gauntlet, but its not "plains with forest lmao" and enemy volume is the most in this one out of the whole fucking game I think, not to mention they are ridiculously powerful and vary to shit like fucking ranged nuking spellcasters who can bombard you to snipers on ballistas.
Victory or Death (Limstella's last chapter) is probably the closest thing to a textbook description of what you were saying, and even that has more than enough going for it with the temples being split into 3 areas, bombardment from ballistas, massive, dangerous enemy spawning and the fact that getting to Limstella requires breaking through a full gauntlet of people.
Oh look at that, I pretty much described nearly every chapter in the game excluding Lyn mode, so much for "80%" of the game fitting your shitty little "plains" moniker eh?

The fact that even simply the type of enemy changing between modes and thus drastically altering how the map would play for example, never factored in to your thoughts?
This is a fucking feeble and pathetic display.

That makes it sound like she loves blacks (I know you're just going by color but it's kind of nonsensical anyway). which doesn't seem to be the case. Quick Question (spoilery about Black Eagle path)
I've sided with Edelgard against the church and in the following mission went against Leonie who I was trying to recruit pre-skip. Instead of killing her (I dragontimed back after a counter crit) I ended the mission early by killing the commander, and Edelgard said everyone else would be spared if they laid down their arms.
Does this mean I can eventually recruit Leonie somehow? She got hotter with age. And Edelgard grew some nice tits too.

>Its not boring after 12 hours
Nigger in what universe does a fucking tutorial mode take you 12 hours. Are you admitting to just being a fucking casual? Or is this another "80%" style exaggeration, because I just realized what you fucking did to arrive at that bullshit "23 out of 40" number. You excluded Lyn's maps for the total number of non-lyn mode maps which was 36, yet you included them in the "23" number to make it look far worse than what it actually was, which was already an extremely shallow, disingenuous and meaningless criticism based purely on the fucking tileset of the map and nothing further.
You're looking more and more like a disingenuous shitposter at this point, and your response pushes this further.
Its fun for nearly the entire fucking game outside of Lyn mode, which takes up the vast, vast majority of the fucking game. Fog of war is fine and simply adds another layer and makes torch and light management actually fucking meaningful, and its used wisely. There's enough chapters to make it important, but not enough to make it overbearing and they spread them out wisely.
"Lot more happening at once" means fucking nothing. What kind of statement is that? Mosous have a "lot more happening at once" in terms of enemies clogging up the fucking screen, but as a general rule of thumb they are not considered particularly deep game. Do I need to lay down the strategic values of and throughout the entire fucking game before it gets through your thick skull, or would you prefer to keep responding like a fucking programmed retard who has nothing more to say than
>more enemies at once good
>groups of enemies bad spread across map bad
Because that doesn't mean fucking shit and I already addressed it.
Where is the response to any of the shit I have laid out? These are vague, meaningless, generalized statements that mean and prove fucking nothing. Say something of fucking value and meaning already that can actually be addressed, because if your strongest criticism for the entire game of FE is
>lmao fuck the tutorial mode
then you should realize how fucking weak, shallow and lame of a criticism it is as it is not representative of the entire fucking game whatsoever, let alone the harder modes of the game which can change the dynamic of the game itself completely.

Did you miss the whole "Claude is Robin Hood so he's automatically the Shounen shitter of the story even if you don't join him" part? Calude remains a neutral Robin shitter all the way, Edelgard becomes Edge-gard and Dimitri becomes Punished Alexander if you don't side with him. Honestly, all three lords are pretty shitty in this game, a far cry from almost all the previous goody-two shoes(Marth, Alm, Leif, Roy, Eliwood, Lyn, Chron) or tough love anikis(Sigurd, Seliph, Hector, Ike) and they're stupid, despite the very anime-like quirks, like Merceds wanting to bondage rape any cute girl she sees until you give her a big heaping dick to suck, are the only ones you can say they're somewhat nice, no matter the side. Exceptions being the loyaltyfags like Emobert, Giganigga and fuckstick Lorenz(I think), who are shit anyway.
Best thing you can do is go with Edelgard, recruit all the students to your side, fuck the other two, kill Rhea and either hook up with big red milkies Edelgard, milky Dorothea, exotic freak Petra, Mercy-nee or get your dragon loli and call it a day.

I fucked up.
I was keeping a single save file the whole time, didn't bother to recruit any other characters because I figured I could always use the "TALK" command when I met them on the battlefield like in other FE games. I used my activity points to level up my professor so he could better train his students.
Now I've only got my default BE house members and the ara songstress and the crest professor faculty. And Sharim, who is one of the hottest characters in the game holy shit.
So now I think I'm gonna restart. And roll with a femleth this time because those titties are outrageous. And put it on Hard mode because normal is waaaay too easy.
The outfits aren't very revealing but the character proportions are A++ for CY+5.
I need to recruit a bunch of characters to create my ideal team/harem
>Leonie as Great Knight
>Ingrid as Falcon Knight
>Marianne as Holy Knight
>Mercedes as Dark Knight
>Shamir as Bow Knight
>Dorothea as Dancer
>Manuella as Gremory
That gives me 7 for my core team, plus Edelgard and Byleth, which is 9. Since most missions only let you command 10 units, I'll have a free slot to fill with a random depending on the mission.
>Bernie as Bow Knight
>Lysithea as Gremory

Black Eagles interests me more but is it worth it to play one of the others houses first to get a better idea of how the game works and what the setting and characters are like before going the 'villain' path? I was thinking of going Blue Lions but everybody apart from Dimitri seems like a poor character. I'm also concerned with how long the game is supposed to be that I might not feel like doing another path. Maybe I should just go with the two Black Eagles paths since they are shorter.

The game is pretty long if you get into it. Probably averaging about 60 hours, but you can go up or down depending on how you play. If you really think you might get burned out, just play the one you think will be coolest. If you want to do multiple and "save" the path you think will be coolest for last, the Deer are a decent starting point. Their story is the most straight up heroic. Dimitri's is really about his relationship with Edelgard and I think it's the worst to play first.

Byleth's dick/vagina is magic and makes whoever they choose to follow less crazy/more proactive. Without Byleth to moderate her, Edelgard goes over the deep end. You can even, spare Claude in that route, which I think makes it the only one of the four routes that allows two of the three main lords to actually be alive by the end of it. Dimitri goes full punished without Byleth, letting his rage rule everything, including overriding his common sense. And without Byleth Claude is unable to do anything because he lacks the strength to do so. So Byleth is always the X factor, and side Byleth chooses is always gamed to be right.

I think each house has good characters in it and each has some forgettable ones. Picking Black Eagles I ended up having a certain degree of fondness for all of them. Having a smaller starting group tends to give that feeling, which often times is lost on FE when you have so many characters that some just float to the bottom. You usually you start from the ones in your house and expand outward to see who you like from there.

The fanbase is so irrevocably fractured and shattered at this point that it's laughable to think they'll come together. It just won't happen until Fire Emblem stops being an IS franchise and KoeiTecmo and Kou Shibusawa take full control of it. And given the overly overt 3 Kingdoms and Chinamanese allusions Koei put in this Fire Emblem with IS' biggest contribution being "Lol, bring the artist, make the chinese things into western on a surface level, PUT THE FUCKING SCHOOL IN, MUH PERSONA" you can imagine how easy that will be down the line.

The endings I got for some of my Blue Lions are weird. What determines the pairing when A's are gotten?
>Ashe makes a restaurant which Dedue happens to frequent. That's the shittiest ending imaginable for Ashe, whom I wanted to actually achieve something and get someone. I liked that fucking archer, I gave him stat items and he turned into a critting war god, and this is what he gets? A fucking restaurant which Dedue goes to sometimes?
>Ingrid goes for Seteth. Good.
>Flayn and Dimitri together is pretty great, the blood of the kingdom's future rulers is guaranteed to be top notch. I'm pleased.
>Sylvain and Felix either go gay for each other, or have the most dedicated friendship imaginable. Okay.
>Mercedes and Annette go lesbian or become even more dedicated friends, which is probably why Dedue and Ashe had to get such a shitty ending - my boy Ashe can't spawn kids with Annette or Mercedes in that case.

>What determines the pairing when A's are gotten?
I honestly have no clue. Personally I have only been letting people a rank who I want to actually have an ending with each other. I think Felix and Slyvain have two pips for A, giving them A plus when they're done, so that probably prioritizes them. Maybe Annette and Mercedes simply have an affinity for each other? But yeah, I have no idea what metric it chooses to determine which one to pick. So the safest option is just to let them only have the A rank you want.

I think I figured it out. The X status menu says who the closest ally to the guy is, and that means who has the most (hidden) affinity out of those who've reached the right rank. It will of course get weird based on whom Byleth chooses to fuck, but it might be accurate. The UI is absolute trash so everything's hard to find, but it's there and I assume it's what it's all about. I assume it changes based on hidden true affinity points which probably are gotten even after you get A rank, so in my case because I constantly had Sylvain and Felix on one side with a healer they ended up gay, and because I often had Dedede get hit by something on the edge of enemy's range with Ashe on the adjacent tile to get the kill after enemy's turn, those two got a ton of points too.

I unironically have a boner for enemy characters and I want to collect them all, Fates was great for the capture mechanic in that. Also why does everyone have this autism for playing matchmaker and pairing up your toons? Even if they don't end up with someone from their class chances are they'll find someone else or maybe their course in life won't be decided by who they fucked from their class.

It could go either way. Either he's complaining Ashe didn't end up with a girl or complaining he and Dedue do not fuck in their ending together.
Protip: If you want to know who is gay, check for males with S rank available to manlyth.

Actually that's not a hard and fast rule. Felix and Sylvain's ending is pretty fucking gay and neither of them are S ranks for male Byleth. Certain characters also seem to go gay who aren't s-rank options for Byleth when paired with certain other people. Dorothea has that effect on a lot of girls for instance, like Petra and Manuela.

Ah yes, just like in previous Fire Emblems with most famous of gay couples like Raven and Lucius and Ike and Soren. Because that's totally how it worked out before and after Fates.Fag.
Also, not every A or S support ends in homosex which is why the fujos and the fags on tumbltwatter are raging like bitches in heat. You get dadzoned and son zoned in two of the supposed homosex endings and you actually marry either a village girl or a daughter, while other characters that have supposedly gey endings all go "both friends become close as brothers and they ruled with their waifus their counties in peace forever." It's only the yuri that is straightforward in this game.

We need Kronya. I'm not touching Heroes but its really tempting me even though its gachashit because at least you'll be keeping your favorites for a long time and won't have to worry about the game they're in becoming obsolete.
>>16757143
Thing is, though, the gay ends and friendzone ends are mixed together and its hard to tell who will get what when two dudes A rank. Its less distasteful with surprise yuri ends so being a mixed bag there is less of a hazard.

This game is a huge step up from the previous fire emblem games
I'm playing on Hard/Casual, to avoid autistic console resets. I have done perfect runs on Hard/Classic many times and it's just a logistical drag for minor mistakes. Although now with Divine Pulse I could just use that, which lowers the drag.I still make sure nobody dies though.

Not really? Dimitri is honestly a bit of a fuckup. He makes a lot of wrong assumptions and ends up getting a lot of people killed who didn't need to be. Ultimately he makes the best of his mess in the end, but it's far from a perfect ending. If you want the least morally ambiguous, most shonen hero path, that's Claude. I say this as someone who likes Edelgard's route best.

>beating Awakening or Fates is not an accomplishment whatsoever
That does not apply to Fates Conquest. The levels in that game are a challenge, resources are limited, and there is no way for the player to level up outside of scenarios. Even spawn in enemies give 0 experience. The only way to really cheese it is through the daily rewards of castles (takes time) or by making an OP main character through acquiring the right abilities through sieges. If you care about the challenge, then don't visit other player castles and do not upload yours.
