I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with these designs.
On one hand, I absolutely despise how flimsy and fragile they look.
On the other, I can really appreciate a ship that's basically just a gun with engines strapped to it.

Honestly, the character herself doesn't bother me half as much as the nation.
The lot wants to pretend they're massive underdogs, while basically handing them every single possible advantage outside of raw numbers. Puts a pretty nasty wrench into any real stakes I have, when it comes to navy battles. Probably why I can stand the character, for the most part. Navy fights're always going to end in the Manticoran's favour, so, I don't really end up counting it against her.
Politics are interesting, though. And I'm a sucker for worldbuilding. Space-Mormons are fun, too.

Playing StarTopia. Its such a comfy game I'd love to see a spiritual successor with modern updates like Z-levels/multiple floors for buildings, and titty physics for the Sirens. Different weapons for your security forces, like stun batons for a non-lethal approach, or assault rifles for turf wars. Upgrade Security Scuzzers into deadly Warbots to go toe to toe with those fucking Skrasher alien spawn things that always fuck up my hospitals. Rework the grid system so things can be more cramped. Allow your station to permit crime in exchange for money or other benefits, but at the risk of running afoul of Galactic Law Enforcement and facing heavy fines. Actually let me use the Commsensor to do things like shit talk/smooze my opponents, summon merchant ships/Arona Jr, pay pirate mercenary attacks on my enemies or send spies to plant bombs/assassinate people, etc.
It'd be rad.

Let me buy starships to send out to trade with distant stations. Give me more control over what technologies my researchers improve rather than make it random. More customization for the bio-deck like rocks, animals, waterfalls and rivers. Lemme close the shutters for Night mode or to allow dark environment bio-luminescent plants, lemme add stuff like park paths, bridges, benches, and lamps.

Startopia was the shit back in the day. A friend of mine had it on disk and I begged him to lend it to me. I especially loved the bio-deck, growing all sorts of plants to convert them to goods and sort them out in those wall cargo units. There are so many vidya which try to do the whole station management thing but I've seen none which do tried to clone Startopia's decks.

The Bio-deck was super cozy, and you could make hella money farming those little flower bushes for Luxury Goods and selling em.
I just wish the standard sandbox mode had more to progress towards after you buy a Star Dock from Arona. After that you basically never have to worry about money if you understand the basic trading rules (why do the sex having half naked Sirens need so much medical supplies? 🤔 Why do the stoner hippie Karmaramas sell food and Black Market Goods? 🤔)

I've played Dungeons 3 and its a solid dungeon keeper clone with an admittedly kind of shitty overworld.
Dungeon keeper is fairly close gameplay wise to startopia so if the same devs are making a new startopia, as long as they keep the curvature, chances are good that it'll be at minimum as good as the original startopia.

Elite Dangerous and House of the Dying Sun have been good in VR. Distance (racing game where your car has rocket boosters/rsc thrusters) is also surprisingly fun with VR+HOTAS w/ rudder pedals, but it will make you sick if you're one of those weaklings who gets sick from vidya. Also hyped for Project Wingman VR but that isn't space.

And it's not even a damn game! I'm fine with him charging for it, particularly charging for the rights to use the engine as a back-end for OTHER games to build onto it. Honestly all the mods that add new weapons and/or ships are not very good balance wise, they mostly have straight up better ships it makes vanilla stuff obsolete. It doesn`t help that any hybrid role ship is significantly worse than combat focused ones.

That may be on destroyer sized hulls, anything bigger than that has some real crazy ships that either have too much flux, too much forward facing weapon slots or too much speed for vanilla hulls to stay competitive. Also some frigate size hulls are straight up better than average

I actually enjoyed Space Trucking Simulator way back before they started the severe credit inflation and then added in lots of additional forms of grind to replace/supplement it. E:D was best in the beta, still somewhat ok at and shortly after release, and has gone down the tubes since then. Even if the gameplay itself has improved, the metagame has gotten so bad that it far outweighs any improvement in actual gameplay.

It's the thin portions right in the middle, I think. The original Pillar of Autumn didn't have any weird small connecting parts, it looked extremely believable for a military ship. Then they started shifting towards having ships be a few blocky components with tiny connecting sections.
The Covenant actually suffered less from this sort of design shift, tbh, so in modern Halo their ships look a lot more practical than the UNSC's.

Someone else took over maintainance and made Steelclads. It currently has 6 factions (not counting AI, aliens, pirates and others), tons of weapons, large portrait selection, great music tracks.
Alas, the roaming AI and alien fleets are not implemented. You can only fight them in the simulator and missions for now.

Nothing to fix the permanent damage thingy?
My brother started playing yesterday and he told me that sometimes, you take permanent damage.
I mean, I understand an issue if the keel gets damaged in a real ship, that dooms the entire ship. But in fucking space there is no such thing as permanent damage. Just take the thing apart, fix or replace, then put it back together. There is no "it's too heavy to remove everything but the keel and fix/replace it" in fucking space

Do you mean damage mods? You can repair them when you're docked on a planet.
>Restoring a ship removes damage hullmods (D-mods) and incidentally fully repairing and replenishing CR. The Restore button [G] is located in the bottom left of the refit screen when in a dock at a planet or station. It is not available from the refit screen when in space. The cost to restore a ship is somewhat proportional to its base cost and how many D-mods it has.

And that's exactly my point, space ships don't have anything similar, so there should be no permanent damage

You move all your spaceship bits into the new hull, the original structure is doomed. Might as well say you didn't lose the whole boat because you can move the wood paneling, sails, etc. to the new one.
But to give a non-keel example on modern naval vessels, say I shred the housing around a reactor on a submarine. It's not fixable and the whole thing needs to be rebuilt (Or torn completely apart, then rebuilt) because you can't just slot in new superstructure. The same will apply to big spaceships in the future.

What low-end weapons are good? The amount of gear in this game is overwhelming, I use auto-equip on ships to have stuff that works and only modify it. So far I'm getting afloat by trading with Pathers, occasionally fighting pirates and assaulting smuggler fleets (and selling their cargo myself). I have a hodgepodge of ships, with Hammerhead as my flagship (it's slow as hell with lackluster weaponry, but don't have anything better), a pirate cruiser I've repaired, about six basic bitch frigates, a carrier, a few freighters and a tanker. It works and I seldom have any losses, but the combat is so chaotic and my flagship doesn't feel effective, hence my question. What rockets and guns should I look out for?

The default Balanced loadout for the Hammerhead is pretty good. That's two heavy mortars, two railguns, two MRMs and PD lasers You might have a hard time finding railguns though, but you can replace those with dual light ACs and put in the hullmod that increases weapon range. Try using that as a baseline and tweak it as you see fit.

You take that back now. It's meh in AI hands, but it's a wonderfully fun mid-game to early late-game flagship.
Really the AI needs to know when to initiate a strike to capitalize on weakness (such as a flanked vessel presenting an unshielded area), rather than playing all engagements as either frontline flux/damage tanks or scared harassers. This is because the AI is currently designed around a "threat avoidance" system that doesn't properly account for targets of opportunity beyond an overloaded enemy.

Every D-mod drops the CR recovery costs incurred at the start of a combat engagement (it's 20% per mod up to a max of 80% I believe), so FR3 could reduce the supply/month logistic cost by up to 80% on D-mod ships. Of course, you shouldn't be using that shit late game because of the 30-ship fleet cap. This shit's in the D-mod tooltips on the refit screen.

And it works really well, all he really needs to do is ad a variable setting of acceptable risk based on AI personality. Something where a cowardly officer will only engage an enemy on the verge of overloading and and aggressive officer will attempt to capitalize and use strike weaponry at around %50 to %60 flux. With steady in between. Other than that all i would want is a missile strike command like fighter strike, then it would be golden.

Something where a cowardly officer will only engage an enemy on the verge of overloading and and aggressive officer will attempt to capitalize and use strike weaponry at around %50 to %60 flux. With steady in between
Officer personalities actually differ in behaviour, but the majority of it is based on ship's own flux level. Steady officers retreat at 50% flux, aggressive at 90%, reckless at 95%. I agree that it would be very good, if AI realised that the other ship might be in worse situation than its own. I think eliminate orders could help with that, but I'm not sure if results would be 100% satisfactionary.

Just recently started playing Starsector, anyone got some protips for Hammerhead loadouts? Saw an anon above mention Heavy Mortar and Railguns, currently I'm using 2x Heavy Mortar, 2x Sabot SRM on 2 different manual weapon groups and 1x Ion Cannon, 1x Tactical Laser, 1x LR PD Laser, 1x Light Dual Machine Gun all on autofire.
I also deploy a:
Wolf with 1x Pulse Laser, 2x Annihilator Rocket Launcher and 2x PD Laser.
<I feel like the Pulse Laser is too much of a drain for this ship.
Condor with 2x Light Auto Cannons and 1x Salamander MRM Pod with Thunder Heavy Interceptor and Piranha Bomber.
<Suggestions on good Figthers?
Wayfarer with 1x Light Dual Auto Cannon, 1x Light Assault Gun, 1x Vulcan Cannon, 1x Ion Cannon, 1x Swarmer SRM Launcher and 1x Salamander MRM.
<Doesn't feel like a great combat ship, kind of shit Flux Dissipation and awkward turret angles.
Also have a Mudskipper that I don't deploy and a newly acquired Gemini that I'm not sure if I should bring into combat or not, currently has 1x Hammer-class Torpedo, 2x Arbalest Autocannon and Wasp Interceptor Drones. Mostly threw on some weapons I had on me at the time.

Swap ion cannon and tactical laser for railguns/dual autocannons OR one of the heavy mortars for an arbalest autocannon. You don't want to tactical laser always on autofire, because shooting even weapons cheap on flux causes you to lose 0 flux bonus.
Wolf could use having annihilators swapped for sabots. Don't use Piranhas against anything but stations. And wayfarer is indeed shit.

Wolves are not brawlers and while they can mount big shit it overloads them quick. Try sabots, they are really nasty and can overload stuff quick.
Hammerheads are great though. For early game it can be tough to get shit like hypervelocity drivers which I like on my hammerheads.. Early game I'll stick 2 thumpers on the front with railguns if I can get them, duel autocannons if I can't. Then Harpoons for finishing nerds. then I'll do like PD lasers or something.

On an unrelated note, how long time does it take until I can trade/turn in missions with a faction that I might have ambushed nearby? Keeps saying I should return 'later' with my transponder off, despite me stealthing in.
Also how does jetting cargo work exactly? Did it with some illegal goods not super far away from a planet and placed it in orbit but despite returning almost immediately it's gone every time. When I'm too close to it and a patrol asks to scan they clearly tell me that they can see jettisoned cargo, but this is not the case here.

Cheap, lots of boolet, easy to find, can overload shitty flux ships you hit early game, range. Mind you it does FRAGMENTATION damage. This is good against bare hull, ie once the armor is stripped off and fighters/missiles. Its just my personal taste. I find the muzzle velocity to be shit on mortars so I don't bother with them. I can get stalled out though if I fight heavier armored ships and I don't have railguns on my kinetic. Rails can punch through armor at a reasonable amount but autocannons are SHIT.

What are some good early/mid game ships to keep an eye out for? Like I've posted before my main is a Hammerhead which is backed up by a Wolf and Condor, the other stuff is questionable at best and often not deployed. I do throw in the Wayfarer during bigger fights but maybe the Shepherd or Gemini are better options.
I feel like another fast ship would be nice for easier interception.
Looking at maybe getting another Wolf and the Shade sounds pretty cool. Could also get a missile or light cruiser for ~100k but haven't really ran into a need for that much firepower and they'd increase my upkeep. This shop as a Gryphon and Falcon in an affordable range.

That's a solid early-game fleet there; could use a tanker though.
If you can get a wolf and shade, do so, because you are lacking in the "nuisance" capability that keeps little fleets alive.
If the ship has a nice blue tint, keep it. If it has a white tint, it's solid. If it's orange, it's only there until you replace it (if you can). Gryphon is a fleet support ship and is okay.
Early on, D-mod ships can be pretty good, so just loiter around the core picking up free ships that meet your needs.

Best setup would be another ship.
Cut all those mods except maybe bulkheads and spend more points on guns, especially long range ones because Legions are slow as fuck. Light needlers and heavy maulers are the classic pair if you have them. Add maneuvering thrusters and a targeting core if you have them. Turn at least two of those fighters into bombers of the same type, Daggers are generally best but whatever you can fit is fine. A single Pilum is useless because you'll never have enough missiles in the sky to get through PD, a single Salamander is only slightly better because at least they're sort of fast. Replace both of them with a pair of pretty much anything else. Annihilators are good for forcing ships to keep their shields up without spending flux.

You could try not downsizing literally every mount. Give it hammer barrages in the large missiles, some medium kinetics and medium flak in the medium ballistics. Broadswords are best mixed with other fighters; they're bulky, have decent kinetic, and distraction flares, so they're good at supporting other assault fighters and making openings for bombers.

If youre solo or using a specialized exploration drive yes. Trying to make a 200+ jump journey with the charge time adds a lot of time spent doing nothing over the course of the journey. Of course the actual loading screen would persist.
In multi player or with any other ship/FSD the charge time would remain.

it's not about "cutting the little fat there is"
Beleive it or not but one of the main attrait of elite dangerous is actually managing to picture how big the galaxy and some solar system actually are while going in FTL (frameshift drive + jump)
Hell the concept of ED and main selling point is "blablabla it's an acurate depiction of our own milyway that you can explore and develop" and the community event are nice to take part on like Distant Worlds 2 (pic related) https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Distant_Worlds_II
The correct question would be:
>should they implement an automatic frameshift drive that automaticaly get to point A to point B
like the warp drive in EVE in the same way we have a module that allow your ship to self dock…
My guess? probably … once we get space leg and would have stuff to do during FSD that go beyon what the cockpit offers.

Something like the space battles in ‘Empire at War’, with more believable technological weapons and shuttles engaging in a last ditch effort to defend earth from an overwhelmingly superior force when the stars are right again would be dope AF.
Building outposts on nearby satellites (the moon, Mars, the moons of Jupiter, &c.), and developing more advanced tech and weapons…

Sounds more like you are focusing on the aesthetics and setting of the game than the gameplay.
For a game, I'd rather see a combination of Homeworld style, tactical command of a small fleet centered on maybe a carrier and its attending fleet of lesser ships, combined with elite style universe to explore, trade or conquer your own little corner off.
You fly around in your carrier, building smaller ships, fighters and drones while putting into docks to buy newer capital ships when you can afford. This means what you can do isn't determined by any single ship you have alone, but by your fleets composition. Have enough cargo haulers for the amount of loot/freight you are moving, enough fighting ships to keep yourself safe and bring along specialists for special jobs you need to do on the fly, like salvaging, mining and such.
For the controls, maybe something like Hostile Waters or Carrier Command with Star Wolves style fighter combat, where you have to set up your fighters loadouts and roles so each squadron can be composed of ships that compliment each other.
The idea is to focus less on a single ship, and more on the fleet you command working as a whole to get shit done.

I think a big problem with the space genre is the emphasis on procedural generation. Most games use it but space games to it to overkill. Space engineers, Elite, Avorion, No Man's Sky- even for the games that have some redeeming features, all their worlds are big, empty nothingburgers. A sandbox is fun for a while but without any challenges to stimulate you, your imagination gets bored. The proper space game should be have certain random variables plugged into a semi-rigid story, like Xcom. It should feature a ship/base building mechanic that's not as tedious as placing every block by hand. It should tie resource gathering to missions and not just mindless mining, and most importantly, it should have deep combat. Maybe that takes the form of managing a squad in a turn-based setting or maybe if means you raid megafreighters in first person CoD style, but whatever the case, it should be complex and make it feel like all the customizing and base building is actually worth something. The tools you design and resources you gather should carry over into the missions and make it so you can approach your problems in a way you designed

to be fair it's space, it's supposed to be empty. and realistically there's only so much variation if you wanna keep it realistic. seeing another gas giant in a different shade of beige gets boring at some point.
the real problem that a lot of games do nothing with that backdrop, plus you always have to consider that not everybody wants a super-deep universe simulation. if people can argue endlessly about flight models alone, just imagine what happens with more systems.
in a perfect world there would be a game for everyone, but that's not feasible (yet).

What's your point? What is wrong with hitscan weapons? Have you played with them? It isn't easy as you might think. It's alien technology, so it should be different than "ours". Very high heat output, big cooldown, draws immense power, really difficult to master… In close combat its really hard to hit specific part of the ship.
Regarding updates, they really bring more and more, faster and faster. There is a really big difference before alpha 3.5 lets say, and the updates that came after. I'm currently downloading the 3.8 as I write, and as I saw online from evocati, huge difference from 3.7. New planet, smoother fps, new guns, new ships, fixes etc. With this one, the system is complete, now they will polish stuff and add more missions, interactive shit etc.
Calling Star Citizen a failure, vaporware or unplayable, at this point, is just retarded.

Pretty sure the only space battles we’ll ever see will be in fiction. We’ll never again land on the moon, much less go to Mars. As the non-White populations grow, our chances of ever exploring the universe are lowered.
Maybe the chinks will go to the moon, but that is as far they’ll get too.

https://rb-d2.itch.io/wingman
It's got a bit of scifi stuff going on, but the core gameplay is really fucking satisfying and the gun is a valid weapon in combat. Aerial Battlecruisers with railguns are great to fight. Excellent visual and sound/music design, too.
The final boss of the conquest mode is one of my favorite battles in any of these types of games, and I've taken the liberty of illustrating my experience

Small Elite update is out, bunch of bugfixing, the ability to re-buy your crew in case they die, and they made exploration actually give out cosmetic jew credits at a reasonable rate. Also a change to mining profits, by making supply & demand actually affect shit like Void Opals, Painite and the more valuable shit, so it'll still sell high, you'll just have to look for more places to sell. Has a huge performance issue that's getting patched today in the PC version, and in a week on console.

One of my gripes is that combat doesnt feel punchy enough. I got a destroyer and its like I'm slapping things with a wet noodle. That and boost is tied to shields so lol at ur lyfe if they go down and you try to disengage. They are still working on it so who knows if that will change.

I avoided the plot, so I can only speak to the side content. The process of setting up on a new world from scratch is a LOT more interesting now than it was, and I think that's the best way to play now, only using starship travel for farming credits with trading or filling in supply gaps. As for the station missions, they're unchanged, but the space combat, while simplistic, isn't completely dogshit now and I enjoyed a couple fights. For ground weapons the fully upgraded lance beam thingy was delightful.
Didn't do much of the underwater stuff, it's a little different, but plays more like an additional biome than anything radical.
Didn't do multiplayer so no comment on it.
Overall, it still gives that hollow feeling that Elite Dangerous gives, but it has enough redeeming qualities to come back from time to time. Good filler for running podcasts or lectures on a second screen.

empyrion is fine for what it is, especially for the price. it gets constant updates and the community can influence quite a bit how stuff develops. so one of the better examples for early access.
I certainly got my money's worth and I haven't even played in a 1-2 years, there's probably enough new shit that makes it almost a new game.
if you want a questionable example post osiris new dawn next time.
>>16827599
the side missions are stuff you do for progression and the end goal to go to the center or whatever. there's certainly enough shit to see and do if that kind of gameplay is your thing.
>>16827626
>The process of setting up on a new world from scratch is a LOT more interesting now than it was
if you have your cushy main base you really don't need to expand that much. especially with the teleporter you just set up a simple harvesting plot with gate + tanks and be done with it.
my biggest gripe with the game is that they added so much stuff that the system interactions are all over the place. freighters feel completely pointless. engine upgrades sound like that big thing but then you just warp in once and set up an outpost with a game and never bother with it. and since you can call your freighter everywhere it makes zero difference what engine it has (although they might "fix" it at some point like they did with the inventory teleport).
nexus is a nice idea but is such a big shortcut it makes almost everything a waste. "oh noes I'm stuck in bumfuck nowhere - oh, just let me call the nexus and use it's teleport network.
I'll give them that tho, the VR implementation is above and beyond the shit you even see from games made especially for VR.

>NMS
That game is an exercise in searching for something that isn't there, it just takes up until you get the biggest hold and fully upgrade your suit, weapon and ship that it dies its death, there's nothing to carry it past that by then everything is done and there's still a 6 gorillion hops to go. Can't you just undermine it and cheat/boost your way to the core so you can realise how pointless it all is? Unless you've already done that and are completely lost to sense. After you've seen a world gimmick repeat for the second time NMS worlds start to get samey fast, it got crushingly dull after a while, only found one that stood out which was a black monochrome world with a red brown atmosphere so it looked like it was in perpetual night even that was only good for a couple of pointless scans and building a shitty little hut.
I know how you feel though, it *almost* fills the barest requirements for the old great hope of gaming: 'Hop in a ship and fly between many worlds', it had never been done well before and then this, barrel of empty promises. this dead mess is the closest that mechanic has ever come to being fulfilled outside of an MMO, there's a skeleton of something in NMS but it never comes to life, all the base building stuff is just baubles on corpses. Procedural generation is digital cancer.

I'd like to say that I love space games, but the truth is that I've disliked just about all of them. To this day, nothing has topped the formula of Wing Commander for me (although it could be improved, with even more choice making). Not even Chris Roberts was able to replicate it again (not a big fan of Star/Freelancer), and it's obvious he's screwing up Star Citizen too.

I've found plenty of unique planets that looked aesthetic as fuck and had very different things going on, there's some truly weird stuff to find if you go out and look for it. You've seen nothing, I very much found everything I was searching for and more.

Remember that Wing Commander (with the exception of spinoffs like Privateer, Armada, and to a lesser extent Academy if I remember) was largely an action game without all the baggage that modern space games have. When's the last time there was a space dogfighting/flying game that didn't feel compelled to be the next Privateer/Elite/X/whatever? I see all sorts of indie space games coming out, but they've all got open world trading and missions and so on. What is it about space games that mandates that they be like this, aside from tradition or what's worked in the past? I'm guessing that any space flying game that was like the old Wing Commanders or Tie Fighters would be mocked these days as basically a rail shooter just because of expectations for the genre.

I hear you.. I didn't want to outright knock all of these games, but yeah, I'm very much in the dogfighting camp and more meatheaded fighter ace type of stories.
Maybe if someone made a game that was all Omega from Mass Effect 2, with alien strippers and black market stuff, I might like a space trader game more.

Thing is, I actually like Privateer games. I just think there's a kind of mental lock-in with space games that makes people think that every space game has to be a freeform trading game or some kind of 4X, and that no other type of game in space can succeed. I mean, FTL and its clones kinda proved that wrong, I guess. I mean, there HAVE been other games. Nexus: The Jupiter Incident was one, but it was sort of a tactical RTS kind of thing and is about fifteen years old now. There was this lesser-known sort of Freelancer-lite from around 2010 whose name I don't remember at all–the guy had some unique and special fighter left to him by his dad or something, and there was a very light economy for making money mostly to upgrade the fighter. Don't remember the name at all. There was Eternal Silence's starfighter section, which could've been fun if it had succeeded–sort of old Battlefront if it weren't Star Wars. I have two Escape Velocity-alikes, I think: Destination Sol and Endless Sky, and I can't remember which is which for the life of me. There's Fractured Space the space moba, but mobas are shit.
There was Allegiance. Does anyone remember Allegiance? It was a large-teams multiplayer strategic game, like the first Tribes if it were a space shooter. You could multi-crew ships, and you had strategic assets to buy either with your own credits or your team's credits. Was either bought by Microsoft or made by them. I forget which. That seems like the kind of game /v/ would enjoy if the server code were still around and if you could get a good twelve or fifteen people for each team. The game didn't exactly succeed, although I can't for the life of me remember what killed it. I think it was paid for via subscription, but I really can't remember. I guess what I'm saying is that it's not that folks haven't tried in the past, but that they've sort of stopped trying. I don't think any game that I've mentioned is from after 2015 and maybe 2010.

vr rogue mission but it's way too fucking short, where's the full game EA?

because it's cheaper to just have the player shuttle random numbers on a screen from A to B and other shit than have a coherent story, proper AI, balancing, pay for all the voice artists and possible high quality models/mocap etc.

At one point stellaris has potential, even with all the bugs, but Paradox smothered it trying to make it fit "their vision". Take a look at how they "streamlined" FTL and how many times they've overhauled war goals/diplomacy/borders, each time fucking it up spectacularly in a different way.

There was House of the Dying Sun, and Everspace. and the upcoming Infinity: Battlescape, In the Black and Redout Space Assault. the main problem seems to be most of the people trying to make the next wing commanders and TIE fighters get caught up in multplayer bullshit instead of building a single player campaign.

Stellaris went through several iterations which are for all intents and purposes different games using the same assets, so its less of a question of "is it worth a pirate" and more "which iteration is worth a pirate."
Right now the eternal swede is steering heavily towards GSG design paradigm so if you like GSG mechanics its worth a pirate. The first couple of iterations went more towards a 4x design philosophy.

Speaking of, I just booted up the game to see what the engine optimizations they mentioned were and Ive actually got around 50 fps on average in the wild on highest settings which is impressive since the game was notoriously shitting itself on current year hardware. My cash farm still forces FPS into the tweens tho.
