I'm playing MH3U and feel like I've plateaued:
Currently at lvl8 village quests, and I feel like the game has suddendly spiked up its difficulty (brachydios).
I main GL and can't get blue sharpness shit, also seems like I need to farm a lot for elemental weapons, but can't do that due to my current options feeling really weak, something that didn't happen before (even on port quests).
An example of this would be agnaktor, I feel miserable hunting it, while previous monsters on the same tier haven't felt like this.
I know it will probably be a case of "git gud", but I feel burned out.
I want to know if this is common at this part of the game or I'm a wuss.
Also, fuck underwater battles, I'm on the brink of jumping to mh4u just to avoid them.

They are still called felyne, but there's two subspecies of cat lynian. The ones with light fur are called Felyne and the ones with dark fur are part of the Melynx race but both can be Palicos as a profession.
The white furred Felyne are non-aggressive but throw bombs when provoked, the black furred Melynx are known to steal shit.

Defend Arch tempered, I seriously can't see how a single soul can justify this new "content".
I can understand Tempered as they are pretty much a check if you "mastered" the fight, they last the same, you just aren't allowed to get hit as often but Arch tempered is just the same tired fights but now longer and more aggravating.
The worst offender to this is obviously AT Nergigante because they decided to give him one move that he can access whenever he feels like it even after other moves that would otherwise put him open, essentially you're at the AI's mercy the entire fight if you're using slow weapons like GS, not to mention he can fucking chain 2 of those together. His health value is also way too fucking big making partying up for it with other hunters just pointless, he also spams his bullshit new move more often in multiplayer so that's a lot of fun.
I tested it out on mu second run and he goes to sleep with about a 3rd of his health left, I tested how long it would take to wake him up with GS true charges and it took fucking 8 before finally dying.
Arch Tempered kills multiplayer, its lazy, removes usefulness of items in favor of just making the fight harder. And the worst part is how they try to pass it as new content.

I remember missing the event when it came out and hearing the horror stories about how hard it was, then when I got the chance to fight him I went solo and killed him on my second try, I only use GS. You're bound to get fucked if you over commit and I can't really blame you since MHW is the easiest one in the series and the game primes you to over commit since there's little consequence for it. Yes, ATs are a lazy way for Capcom to say the game is hard but for the wrong reasons.

"Comrade" was what the Felynes who'd join you in FU were called. It was like a title, similar to how you're a "Hunter" but also a human. Because they're literally your Felyne comrades. Later games retconned the title of the Felynes who fought alongside Hunters to "Palicos", because it's some silly wordplay, "pal" plus "calico", a breed of cat - it's literally calling them cat-friends. Felyne is the name of their race, and always has been, and Felynes are a type of Lynian. Behemoth is a hard fight but unlike AT Nerg he's fun. his extreme version adds some new mechanics in and although it's pretty though it's still a more engaging and better fight rather than what they did with AT Nerg which was to give him a move that he can access at any time that completely overshadows every other move in his arsenal, they might as well just have AT Nerg with that one move and nothing else.
This is just a lazier and worse version of Apex.

I struggle to remember any High Rank endgame tier monster that has around the same amount of health as AT Nergigante. Not to mention that the problem is that it kills any reason play multiplayer because the health upgrade AT Nerg gets makes MP runs more of a challenge rather than how it used to be.
For an endgame monster to kill any reason for players to team up I think it's a pretty flawed monster mechanic wise. Extreme Behemoth is a better endgame fight.

If it is your first game, there will be some high difficulty curve monsters that just rape you at first. It's pretty normal. While you can beat everything with a single weapon type, I would suggest trying others out and getting comfortable with some other types. Certain weapons may be better suited to fighting certain monsters. Like maybe Brachy fucks you up with GL, but you can fuck him up with a greatsword. Having variety like that also helps keep things from getting too monotonous, I personally like using almost every weapon type and just switch depending on my mood or the monster.

I'm currently playing 4U and World alongside each other. It's interesting to see the differences side by side. One of the biggest improvements World made is all the extra juice on the weapons. New moves, better combos, and general fluidity of use are the things I miss the most when I go back to 4U. Even the Gunlance, my first love from P3rd, is now ruined when I go back to classic. However there is one exception for me: for some reason I prefer the Charge Blade from 4U to the one in World. It somehow just feels better, not to mention the meta is World is to just spam super discharge.
What are your opinions on the evolution of weapons from classic to World?

It feels meater in 4U, if that makes sense, unironically I think it was because the 3DS would shit itself every time you'd use a discharge, so you got this really heavy feel for the impact, now it no longer feels the same. And the spam in world gets pretty annoying quickly, they are trying to fix it with the new moves in Iceborne but I haven't kept up with Iceborne besides the monster count.
What is surprising is that World managed to make every weapon viable, there used to be a huge difference with some weapons and in World, for the most part, every single weapon type is pretty good.
I like most of what World did with the weapons minus the HBG, the shield should not be that good.
That's about the only thing I think world did without any big negative drawbacks.

I'm actually playing on a hacked New 3DS, so the game actually runs really well. However I think you're right to call the old Charge Blade "meatier" as it certainly feels that way, especially the 2-slash charge attack. Is it me or was the sword component of the CB way bigger in 4U? I could often hit high things like flying Rath tails but the blade feels stubbier in World.
I also agree that aside from the usability improvements the overall balance between weapon types in World is fantastic. Hopefully it gets even better in Iceborne. Shame that weapon choice within a weapon type is as unbalanced as it's always been, with clear winners and losers all around.

I have to agree that ATs are most flawed because they basically kill multiplayer. The HP scaling being wonky becomes a problem with base values so large. I actually worry a bit about how the devs will push the difficulty in G Rank. I think they cornered themselves with Item Box + Equipment Change in camp.

Xeno, with his billion HP, can probably wait… forever.

Hyper is just AT lite, and Deviants are essentially what happens when toddlers are allowed to fingerpaint over a copy of the concept art. But my easy favorites overall are Shah Dalamadur, Gogmazios, all 3 flavors of Fatalis including Ultra Crimson from 4U, Glavenus, both Zinogres, Ahtal-Ka, Great Jaggi, Gigginox, Akantor and Ukanlos, Lao-Shen Lung and Valstrax. Ones I haven't fought yet like Yama Tsukami and the rest of the Drome replacements from Tri/3U are likely additions when I get to em.

What if we remade Charisma Prowler into Hero Prowler and give it brave sheath and stance instead of aerial dodge? Brave state is activated when you use Palico Rally. With brave state palico throws a boomerang with every melee attack or throws three boomerangs at once for ranged. The vertical buzzsaw attack turns into a death drill that burrows you immediately after use. The boomerang rush turns into a spinning pounce that also buries you. Also thought about a "shaman" class Palico that gets hunting horn notes. Palico dance costs 0. Haven't thought of any good secondary skills other than being an alternative to Charisma/Hero.

Hyper Silver Rathalos I can deal with, even though I play an "underpowered" weapon such as the gunlance. Hyper Lagiacrus, with its jerky fuck-you-electric-blast whose startup animation is only slightly different from the garden variety electric projectile attack, and its liberal usage of the purple "the whole zone now hits for half your HP lol" projectile… I haven't been able to stay in the same zone as Hyper Lagiacrus for more than 5 minutes, while wearing full Khezu G Rank armor. I stuck to Guild style all along but I may have to break that seal and go Adept for this one after all.

Came back for AT Nerg after hearing it was out, beat it with SNS and Lance before seeing the layered armor was the shitty Ryu skin. Got every gem i need, now i'm just trying to get 3000 weapon usage.

I've been playing MHGU, and brave/valor style is kinda interesting.
Using switch axe I just find myself rushing to fill the valor bar, then spamming dashes and double slash in sword mode. Not sure if that's optimal or anything, but it's far more engaging than aerial style SA.
I kinda let the initial rush for MHGU pass me by after burning myself out on Gen, so I don't think people are playing it much anymore, plus the jewish tricks that Nintendo is employing with their online service kinda ruins the online. So I'm just slowly grinding my way into G rank.
Still, got a year free membership thanks to some free twitch prime deal that I took thanks to my parents having amazon prime.
Might as well try to make use of it whilst I have it.

I have too much fun with alchemy gunlance. I know the shortened wyvern fires are weaker but it makes dealing with accidental overheating more tolerable. It isn't an efficient style for speedrunning or power. I always have fun thinking out of the box with sub-optimal set-ups. I tried aerial bug stick but it's literally the same moves over and over again. Pole-vaulting and infinite combo.

I play hammer quite a bit and I really like para hammers in group play. Obviously it's pretty shit for solo due to low raw but the extra crowd control is really nice in groups. Not really a fan of brave for most weapons but I understand why it is used.

You'll be shelling lots with Alchemy gunlance. The slam combo is how you fill your alchemy gauge. Usually just unload a burst to fill heat gauge before wyvern fire. Read heat gives gunlance best power after the MV nerf. Alchemy for the most part is earplugs and booster. maybe a whetstone to fill arts faster. I don't abuse arts that much so I make everything SP. Absolute Ready/Evade is usually all I need to keep SP mode constantly up.
