I had some pretty bad nerve damage in my left hand two years ago, after a lot of physiotherapy I'm able to move my hand/fingers decently again.

During that time the kinds of games I've been playing has been very limited to games you can mostly play with one hand (Tetris, Pong, etc)

My doc thinks it would be a good idea to rebuild dexterity with games, but my movement is still quite limited.

My left hand's fingers are kinda slow and lackadaisical, my left thumb can mostly go backwards and forwards at the moment. Do you guys have any suggestions on fun games that would be playable this kind of with limited dexterity? Currently I'm trying to play some PS2 games, but working the left analog stick has been tough.

I'm looking for mostly controller-based games, my fine motor skills aren't fully there to accurately play KB+M games yet.

While you're still a faggot for being OP, I would suggest you put the point of your thread front and center, and then blogpost.

>What are some fun games for [platform] that are playable limited dexterity?

>Details about injury

If you want to improve your thumb, NES games would do the trick.

bb6793  No.16692863

Go play Dark Souls/Sekiro. Not because it's fun or good, but you can be proud about being better at video games than game journalists because that's a high achievement.

84c065  No.16692888

play morrowind and spam jump until healed

or go jrpg and play some final fantasy or the like because it's slow. earthbound you could try playing with just your left hand for the most part and focus on training left hand dexterity.

Maybe you should try a real musical instrument. give it a thought if you haven't so far.

1412f3  No.16692895

Try playing GB/C/A RPGs, they usually don't require more than a hands width to play. DS RPGs might also work if they don't involve the touch screen heavily. You might also want to look into PC gaymen and get like a stick with the buttons all around it.

Play racing games if you really want to give your left thumb a workout. Fighting games could also be good for that. If you want it easier play something like 2D mario where you only really have to hold right for the majority of the game.

Maybe shit like rocket league and AC7 might be suitable? Hope things keep on the up and up for you anon.

i was actually gonna say dark souls. i'm playing it as i type this & you don't really need to move your left thumb around from left to right very much at all & if you don't play with a shield (i don't, a lot of people don't) you don't even need the left trigger buttons.

or you could play PSVR - my girlfriend has it & there are some cool games that only require the "move" sticks or whatever they're called

Typing of the dead

jk, it might be a good time to get into DRPGs (think Wizardry, Etrian, etc). You get quite a workout moving down twisting corridors and you can stop to rest anytime.

turn-based JRPGs such as Dragon Quest

I'm sorry about your hand injury OP. Play some RTS, they mostly require a mouse. Good luck with your recovery.

Try Okami

Not particularly hard, fairly lenient on your particular issue

Very long

Specifically requires you to learn plenty of different left thumb muscle memory over the game

Play the Yakuza games (the ones that have been ported to PC so far).

>not very long

That is factually wrong.

I'd suggest the HITMAN 2 (the new one) and maybe an MMO. They're slower pace yet you still need to maneuver a lot. If all else fails, play some card games.

SMT, mainline or otherwise, I think are all turn-based, so it's mostly just menus and moving around.

Strategy RPGs like Shining Force, Sakura Taisen, Final Fantasy Tactics will work as well.

"Modern" JRPG style games with real time auto-attacks, like FFXII, Ni No Kuni, and Xenoblade will give a bit more workout on the thumbs, but still doesn't hinge on moving around. If you still struggle with the stick, though, I'd leave them for later.

4758ea  No.16693453

How about playing some actually dexterity based-games despite your injuries? Seeing that you are supposed to train your hand to regain it's dexterity, maybe something that requires you to move it a lot would be better for you? How about playing some simple platformers like Mario games?

6be490  No.16693463

>>16693453

That's kind of what I've been asking for, but with a limit.

My fingers move really slowly, it takes me about twice as long to open my left hand than it takes for my right. This eliminates a couple of games, but anything that doesn't require rapid button pressing with the left hand should be fine.

9e4926  No.16693664

Look at the games Halfcoordinated speedruns, he only plays with one hand because of a similar issue.

If he can do it one handed, you can probably play them one-and-a-half handed.

Some I can remember:

>Near a Tomato

>Hob

>Vanquish

>that Transformers game by Platinum

Also, can't you move your hand plus thumb instead of just your thumb to somewhat improve your analog-stick usage?

Smash might be a good bet. Play on piss easy casual difficulty and work your way up.

I'm going to second this. You can primarily play with a mouse and ramp up your bind usage as your offhand improves. Most of these games are going to have good customization for where you want to place your binds and generally have solid campaigns or multiplayer if it's still alive.

As far as controller game recommendations go, kaizo smw hacks might also be good for you if you're willing to use the controller upside down. From your description, you'd probably do fine with any snes game outside of movement heavy titles.

131487  No.16693987

>>16692835

To be frank, there's not a lot of games that can be played with a controller with your limited dexterity. All I can recommend is some turn-based RPG or controller supported dungeon crawler. These kind of games will force you to use your thumb but doesn't require you to use them quickly.

>>16693664

But anon, doesn't Halfcoordinated plays with his left hand i.e his movement is on par as a regular player?

Eversion?

Also any RPGs seem to be viable, like Earthbound or FF.

>But anon, doesn't Halfcoordinated plays with his left hand i.e his movement is on par as a regular player?

I dunno, I only know of him, not much about him.

Just hold the controller backwards :^)

Maybe you can rebind steam controllers to have movement on the right, they're the same on both sides with just trackpad things right?

If you want to exercise your left hand super hard, pick up a guitar hero controller and start playing Clone Hero

d49111  No.16694078

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

Actually, Tetris might work. It starts slow and gradually requires you to get faster with your hand eye coordination. It also becomes more fun the more autistically good you get.

Get a cheap arcade stick and play it from the wrist (rest your forearm and hold the stick from the side). You'll use your thumb to readjust the grip. It sounds weak, but your thumb will travel and you'll build up coordination.

If you like strategy games, check out Romance of The Three kingdom 8 to 13, or the Nobunagas Ambition series. ROTK has a lot on the PS2, like 8 to 12 iirc, but they're also on PC as well, and are turn based, making it easier to play.

RTT and RTS are great OP, I played them when I broke my arm and couldn't use my left arm/hand nearly at all

If you are going to play Total War be sure to pirate what you don't already have though

One Finger Death Punch and use the hand that was damaged I guess
