I found worlds biggest, and most obvious really, detriment in terms of the actual hunts was a lack of variety. I got it was a new engine and they were not using the ps2 assetts for the first time in forever so i understood it but it still meant the game lacked some longevity. Too little of certain elemental types, nobody enjoys grinding elder dragons when they are all 4 legged, winged assholes and so on.

So i've been kind of 'eh' about iceborn. But there was a leak a while ago suggesting a huge roster, massive multiplayer improvements and every flagship from the anniversary poster. Now sure enough we have all but 4 flagships from the poster confirmed along with massive multiplayer improvements to do away with MHW vanillas horseshit and if the rumour as a whole is true means steve, lagi, zinogre, giggy miggy and monsters like Khezu and Malfiesto are also coming.

So question is what do anons want to see from this? personally its all steps in the right direction but i really want to see the return of arachnid/crustacean type monsters. Nerscylla, Seltas Queen and Daimyo Hermitaur to name a few. I miss those a lot more than i thought i would.

Also given the themes i would really like to see them do a rework of Nakarkos but thats just me. What about you?

I know they won’t but give me the leviathans back. I want lagiacrus, agnaktor, and mizutsune. Also I don’t want elder dragons to be just the end all be all for end game.

Other than that I have few complaints, as my biggest one was lack of content and they seem to be at least trying to fix that. They just better put in unique weapon models for all the new monsters, cause base game barely has any.

World is absolute trash that is a spit-in-the-face to anyone who cared about MH. Crapcum has been dead to me as a developer since UMvC3when I should have seen the shit coming with SSF4, and will never ever recover. The talent behind all their good games left a long time ago, and they fatally invested in the ESPORZ meme which baited many devs and publishers to follow suit and shit up fighting games.

I know what a subspecies is, but the previous MH games didn't have such a tiny roster of garbage monsters, and even fucking Gold/Pink Rathian, the laziest fucking subspecies out there, fought and behaved at least slightly differently than regular Rathian and were more difficult. Compared to World's shown off subspecies, the ice lavasioth, which literally is just a Jyuratodus that can swim through snow instead of water, with the exact same animations and behavior, the Banbaro, which uses most of Barroth's animations, and his only difference/gimmick is scooping shit up while he charges you. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dragon Odogaron and electric Anjanath behaved exactly like their regular variants, but with different elements, like Odogaron inflicting dragonblight instead of bleed, and the Anjanath breathing lightning instead of fire.

Not to mention, that it's incredibly lazy to start padding the roster with subspecies when there are so many more interesting monsters you could put in the game before.

So I know that they had an excuse of not being able to use the same models they've been cannibalizing for almost all of the series, but why the fuck have they had so much trouble actually adding monsters to this fucking game?

Monsters added after release include:

Am I actually missing anything? I mean I know it has only been a little over a year, but given how little was in base, I was really hoping for more to be added at regular intervals and all I got has been disappointment and the sensation that I Knew I should have waited for an ultimate or G rank edition.

I want to see them stop with the time-limited events like this is some kind of mmo games as a service bullshit. I want turf wars to not play out the same canned animation every time that ends up being free damage and/or a free break for the player. I want some actual depth to raising and customizing my palico. I want decorations to return to being craftable. I want monsters to not voluntarily fall asleep as I'm standing right next to them. And, most of all, I don't want to pay the cost of a full AA game for content and features that should have come with the base game.

They said they will still add monsters post release just like they did with vanilla World, so I doubt we'll get them all.

As of now I think we'll get a confirmation trailer for at least Zinogre and Seregios, but that will likely be it.

If they really intend on adding Fatalis, it will likely be post-release as to not overshadow the new flagship, and I'm also taking a bet that it will be a permanent event like that of Kulve Taroth, where multiple parties will be taking him out for bigger rewards.

I want Gore and Valfalk to be in but at this point I doubt they will be on release, hopefully the post release content will be decent, and none of that Arch-tempered bullshit, please.

In all honestly I'm pleasantly surprised with the amount of new monsters, I was thinking with how successful World was that they would just add around 5 monsters and call it an expansion and people would still fucking pay for it. If they really do manage to add in everything in that poster on top of the new monsters and subspecies, then Iceborne is going to nearly double World's content.

Here's hoping they don't forget to finish the weapon designs this time around.

How would you increase difficulty? You'd probably have to do something to make movement less easy or make monster hitboxes larger. As it is, I feel like you really have to try to get hit. The devs have tried to bump up difficulty in the least fun way possible, just increasing monster damage, which doesn't fix the core problem of movement being too fluid in this engine.

I would also probably entirely mod out the slinger thing and change the way you use items back to the old way.
