Capcom were just the dumbasses who actually wanted to publish the game. I remember when it was coming out there was an interview with the people at Dontnod and they said something like "no one wanted to publish this game because it had a female protagonist". No one wanted to publish it because it was shit. Dontnod should have died then and there but no. They got to continue making their poorly made and written games. God dammit Capcom. You could have stopped them.

The first two were so expensive that they doomed the series to budget handheld games. The third was such a flop that it didn't stayed Japan-exclusive and killed the series, doomed to only be represented in Nintendo Land and Mario Kart 8.

I dont know if is a joke but I will dig. The only Anime of those games are the animated portions between gameplay that they are going to have.

Wayfoward using a SJW director for Battle City Girls. Expect 2 versions of the game:

1-Japan version

2-Western version with censored scenes and SJW elements and VA from the #KickVic twitter cult.

3-Black and Trans characters inserted in the plot and playable after game is beaten.

4-Anti fanservice in many areas and cut scenes where the game spit at otakus.

5-LGBTZAWUARUDO+ Flags and fat acceptance in backgrounds.

These are the only two titles I can think of that Nintendo actively price cut to try and sell them.

Nintendo first-party titles usually have a long tail and sell well for years despite a high price point (until they go "greatest hits" years later) but these two were heavily discounted bargain bin trash that effectively killed their franchises.

Only now is Metroid getting back to its feet, and even then it had to be rebooted from scratch with a big NO NIPS ALLOWED signed on the new dev room door.

I wonder if anyone besides me even played this mess. It was originally called Shadowrun Online and was in production at the same time of Shadowrun Returns. Turned out it was some shitty mission based game that could have easily been a LAN game but they gave you an online lobby and forced you to connect to a central server to play it.

Anyway the game came out and was shit. So shit that the devs ran damage control for the next couple years desperately trying to salvage a workable game before having to pull the plug in 2018. You can no longer purchase and the game and can no longer play it due to the central servers shutting down.

They made SF64, the franchise became a testing ground for weird bullshit ideas for the next 20 years, they through people the scantest bone by releasing SF64 again on the 3DS, and then they made Zero which still wasn't really the SF64 sequel people wanted. We still don't have SF64 2.

Culling 1 was fucking kino though until they murdered it

>battle royale before it became a meme genre

>rock-paper-scissors fight system

>based around melee weapons, guns exist but they're hard to obtain and not worth it more often than not

>probably one of the most fun games I've ever played

>enter in a tournament, get my ass kicked because teamniggers but last a lot longer than I expected considering my PC almost exploded during the match

>devs start making changes that nobody asked for

>nerfing weapons/perks/stims that were just fine while buffing already broken ones

>changing the core gameplay mechanics every few weeks or so for no fucking reason

>major issues like input lag are ignored

>airdrop crates that were filled with all kinds of different combinations of weapons are replaced with mediocre loadouts that are all the same (weapon, stim, armor, rinse and repeat) and you can only call them in at specific times

>even the fucking game announcer goes from talking like a smug son of a bitch to what can only be compared to a sixth grader reading a book report in front of his class

>game starts dying

>Xaviant starts teasing a big boy update that's going to revive the game

>not much hype because dying playerbase

>it finally releases

>fucking weapon skins and cosmetics

>new map that looks like it's still in alpha

>more pointless weapon/gameplay changes

>playerbase drops like Fat Man to 30 players max

>fortnut releases

>Xaviant thinks they can do that too

>release The Culling 2: Electric Boogaloo

>laughable clone of PUBG with no resemblance to the original whatsoever, just a generic gun game

>also broken as fuck, one guy says he won a match before he even opened his parachute

>game bombs and is taken off the store less than a week later

>one year later, Xaviant announces they're restoring the game to it's Day One state

>weapon skins and cosmetics are still in but the gameplay is back

>fall in love again

>Xaviant starts gradually introducing the shitty changes again

>stop playing along with everyone else

>game is now at a grand 3 players max

not everything good lasts forever I guess

Pretty much. Studio 38 was founded by a boomer baseball player who's only game was Amalur. They took out a 70 million dollar loan through a Rhode Island media initiative that some countries like to set up to attract devs to create studios in their country. Anyway, they released it, it flopped and Rhode came knocking for their money back. They couldn't pay, everyone was sued and boomer baseball player lost at least $50 mil in setting up 38.

Pretty disappointed it didn't make it into Xbox Backwards Compatibility before MS shitcanned the project. Digital Extremes is too goddamned busy shitting out grind bait for Warframe to sign off on the paperwork to make their legacy catalog available.

You can still pirate it, and I hear it'll still run fairly decently out of the box on modern systems, but that's not first-hand experience. I've got the Xbox version.

A game so poorly made from the ground-up that the only people who got a game they wanted to play were the drones who were willing to pay to play literally any 40k game. And they ARE paying, which is why the servers are still up with a consistent 100 peak players for the past two years. It's actually impressive that the servers are still up, considering most of the game is unplayable during peak hours, and all of it is unplayable at night. The community cancerously wards off any new players, with great lines such as, "it's not pay to win because if you manage to kill them they lose the powers they bought until next match".

>>16688742

That and the promised multiplayer were the main reasons people bought the game. Fleshing out the gameplay loop and adding actual multiplayer did indeed bring the product up to what they claimed it would be. Whether or not someone will find the game fun yet is subjective.

So removing classic characters like the X-Men in pro of something like fucking Captain Marvel divided the fandom. Wario: Master of Disguise. It's pretty terrible all around. I got it for cheap because I liked the various Wario games even though I thought it looked bad, and what a mistake that was. The controls are complete shit because they decided, like practically every game at the time, that they had to "make use" of the "innovations" on the DS. That means shoehorning in touch controls in the worst imaginable ways possible. I never even finished the game because of how bad the controls were. I have never seen anyone discuss the game.

There was another game that I was going to mention, but I forgot which as I was typing the post. Well, that just proves how forgettable it was.

I heard he got into some deals with Chinese publishing companies, though, who started throwing their weight around and making demands. Which I suspect has something to do with that ill-conceived spinoff Red Ash and the attendant anime adaptation that was announced before either game was even out.

Only reason I remember this turd is because of what could have been.

>Is korn a kiss of death of a game selling well?

I imagine it's the opposite, the devs know their game is shit so they hire celebrity musicians/actors to make it look better.

Does it even count as a flop if the devs run away with millions of dollars?

both of these were good but the victim of controversies larger than the game itself.

nigger, Amalur is legit good (not great, but like 4/5) but even speaking as a fan of the game, Too Human is not good. Inventive, creative, original, even underrated, yes. Good? Hell no.

I liked Star Fox Assault, but I'm sure that was also a flop. What a shame.

Wasted Potential: The Game. I love what it did with time manipulation, I just wish it wasn't the only one that does it. Super Hot and FEAR are the only games that get close to it

Was going to post this. They focus tested with CoD kiddies and made a potentially interesting game into a turd. Fuck EA.
