We’re creating a video game in RPG Maker VX Ace together with other anons. Here’s how it works:

We have our own board over at >>>/bizarre/ to act as an archive for changes/resources/discussion. There will always be threads on /v/, but /bizarre/ will serve to host more permanent discussion.

Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. Only one person can actively work on it at a time. This is because if two people make overlapping changes to the database, scripts or switches, they will conflict resulting in one person having to redo all his work. Changes to the map and events can be copy-pasted from one version of a project to another so you’re free to work on new maps and new events if its not your turn and add them to the current version of the game once it is your turn.

It should work like this: OP posts newest version of the map. The first person (Anon #1) to respond to OP stating that he’s going to work on it becomes the active game dev. Once Anon #1 finishes and re-uploads it, the first person to respond to him gets to work on it. So on and so forth. Additionally, whenever you re-upload a new version, reply to the anchor post, it’ll make things a lot easier.

General Rules

>Don’t mess with maps, events or anything else you didn’t make. Although, adding minor stuff like a connection between two areas or fixing bugs and typos is all fine.

>If you’re okay with others editing your stuff, leave a note saying so.

>You’re free to add characters and the like, to the inter-dimensional tavern.

>You’re also free to make changes to game settings, unless its something we’ve agreed upon (we’ll probably do this via a poll)

I didn't want to wait any longer with this update. So I'm pushing it out. Anything I plan too add/fix is later on.

NEW CONTENT:

Dimensional Irregularity is 75% complete.

WHAT IS DONE:

Maps are done.

Enemies are placed, both random and specific.

The script for the main cutscenes are done.

Miriam, the new character is done. She's a glass-cannon mage with attack spells and debuffs.

Items are made, but not all of them are set.

Entrance Map was overhauled to introduce the bridge mechanic early.

WHAT IS NOT DONE:

Finishing the script that's not part of the cutscenes.

Placing the rest of the items in the treasure boxes.

Actually setting up the enemies with stats, attacks and AI.

Needs an ending cutscene with Albert.

WHAT IS FIXED:

Various bugs in F1 are fixed (some of the flags like under bridge).

A fucking SHITTON of bugs are fixed in F2 (DO NOT FUCK WITH VARIABLE 81, FOR THE LOVE OF THE FUCKING GODS!)

WILL ADD MORE TO:

I should find a way for Miriam to be able to double-cast/triple-cast magic. There should be a mechanic that boosts cost when attempting to do so.

MERGED CONTENT:

I merged a file from another anon, it has the Winter-chan port.

It links to Winter-chan land near the graveyard, I kinda wonder if I should place it somewhere better.

Wyvern Mountain, a WIP dungeon is included.

ADDED CONTENT:

Expanded the party room a little. Miriam can now play games there!

BUG FIXES.

Addressed the party crystal issue, it will give a crystal when you leave through the door or my crystal.

Two of the party members (Makoto and Gringlebeard) didn't have Joined or party flags. I set those up so they can be properly added/removed from party.

Added Makoto to the party (from the columbine map), but that's only because he was glitching out. Not sure if he was meant to actually stay, I'll leave that as a decision by

the others.

Fixed all sorts of weird script placement bugs in the columbine map, so that way you don't go out of boundary and get stuck.

Removed the scripts that take out your party members before the D.Nuvo fight.

I gave the goons EXP, but you can change this back if it has to be done.

BUGS FOUND:

If you try to enter the door in weebanon's tent even with just anon it still doesn't recognize it. I set the party member = 4, but it's supposed to be a solo deal.

I have some things to address: 1: I'm not the anon that made monster-farm, just wanted to clarify that since I saw that on the credits.

2: The cutscenes are a tad wordy, but I hope that they don't drag out. If you think the dialogue needs revising via removing or adding, let me know!

2a: If you think there was something missing at the end, you would be correct since there were supposed to be a final scene when you talk to Albert.

How I set it up:

Ideally, enter the monster girl town and speak to albert before you face D.Nuvo for the last time back in weeb city! Do the Weeb City dungeon after that visit until you get to /r9k/. There's a warp door you can use to get back to the tower in Mt. Waifu. Get back to the farm, and if you hear the horror noise, speak to Albert.

It's difficult to merge VX files because they use binary data, while MV uses JSON, a text based format. I may have found a solution though:

Thinking back to this, I could have taken more time on the dialogue I made and cleaned it up/rewrite what I had. I know there's one part before you fight the first boss where anon's dialogue needs a retooling. I should also insert some music fadeouts and changes on the 2nd part, but that's something I'll implement on the next version. If anything I want to work on the enemies. I want to them to be somewhat unique and difficult; where using ailments other than stun is needed. I should make beastiary entries for these monsters too. Here's what I had in mind for these encounters.

Lahmu: It's body being recently formed, it's susceptible to status effects like poison or paralyze due to those status ailments affecting the body. Are there any more I'm missing?

Octabrain: Tougher body but obvious weakpoints. Blind can shutdown it's physical attacks and should stun if blind is applied. Maybe make it weak to confusion?

Shambler: Toughest body, and no eyes mean that no ailments that are physical will apply. You have to use mental ailments like Confuse, Charm.

What do you guys think?

There is a problem with entering the Van Holmes spa in this current version. In front of the door is a splotch that prevents me from getting near the door. Also the 4U burn mark in gondola village can't be passed as well but I got around it by climbing the vines behind building next to Bigondola.

VERSION 0.525 BUG FIX EDITION

BUGS FIXED.

Found some bugs added my myself in the dimension map, fixed them all.

–They were found in maps 3, 4, 5.

Added text to map 3. Map 4 should have no text.

Retooled the dialouge in Map 5 and the boss room.

Fixed some placement bug maps in Winter-chan land overall and dick mountain. They weren't common, but they were kinda all over the place.

Shinbou and Anon won't glitch out when she joins him.

Set some of the action button map warps as player touch.

On any map using the exterior set, the 'splotch' was unwalkable, this was reversed.

WHAT TO DO:

Still need to setup enemy AI and proper stats.

I will need to add more treasure across the map. The chests are set, just need to place them.

I might add some dialouge to map 5 (I placed some bones in there, should interact as NPCS.)

GROUP TALK:

We gotta decide on how to scale the difficulty on all of the content. How tough should dick mountain be? How tough should retail town be?

Retail town and Winter-chan land have no weapons for Anon, hell most places don't have it. So where should anon's shitposting devices be?

Another thing I noticed is that the blue slime gives a fuckton of EXP, who set that?

Lastly, when is CityAnon's update? (I hope my update/merge won't be too horrific.)

You have to defeat Haftinger in Dark Forest to unlock his shop in Interdimensional Tavern. He sells more powerful dox devices and defensive proxies for Anon. The stats and skills they give are bredi gud so don't worry about Anon's equipments. If there's any party member who needs more attention i think it's Van.

I have been juggling between this and helping out with the Comp_Hack Imagine MMO project, mainly with a dungeon or two. After I finish a dungeon with that, I'll have to finish on the AI. If you have some scripts that can help me with some ideas, that would be cool actually. I have a good idea on how the Lahmu and the Shambler would act, but as for the new Octabrain, I gotta admit I don't have much of an idea, has Octabrain from DNF changed alot from his DN3D counterpart? Either way I need to make proper attacks for them regardless.

I might turn the CIA rook boss into a sort of 'lower-health' high-defense boss, As for the more specific tweaks, I need to think of something I can spice it up with.

The optional Miriam boss can be a deceptively easy boss if you know that gazers love to use magic. But it's not possible to revive enemies in combat right? The idea would be the eyes could enter a knockout state for a few turns, but then they would pop back up ready to fight again. But if they can't revive, I could setup an enemy replacement system instead.
