Doktor Natse redemption ending, still good sport on Harlan Ellison to work and even voice act in the game, and it's pretty much a one-off classic title for me, the big three superpowers, AI controlling mankind's fate, and ect, pretty grimdark and says all about human nature and not having a damn machine judge it.

The game is wildly different in nature than the book. It's not nearly as bleak with all the freedom the player has, AM is shown to be more complex and have an intricate personality from all the characters you meet who are extensions of AMs demented mind, and an ending where you actually save humanity, something Harlon disagreed with with the devs on. Which is understandable because the book was the definitive bleak, post-apoc/sci-fi future where the protagonists had NO chance of escaping and that doesn't sound like much of a game.
I liked the lore a lot even though it was retconned quite a bit. The 3 AIs that made up AMs inner circuitry having all independent personalities with their own goals was nice. I liked the design of the Russian supercomputer, it looked metal as fuck. Actually, I like all the designs of the world, they looked close to how I imagined them would be.

The reason most people have a positive opinion of him is mostly because he called out tons and tons of bullshit (despite he himself pulling some, like the shlomo he was) and that part of his books got copied into movies without his consent.

Didn't this game's German release remove the Nazi section, which was vital to a puzzle near the end? I recall it being replaced with having to fruitlessly interact with something over and over until the puzzle finally solves itself. Either that or a softlock.

I've heard some stuff about this game, how it's supposed to be mega deep and stuff. I was never around back when point n click vidya were popular. Is it still worth it to look at if you're not really experienced with the genre? For reference, the only thing I'd consider point and click I've played is Fallout 1, and I never really got the hang of it.

Best compliment I can give to it is that the voice acting is some high quality shit, Ellison fits perfectly as A.M. since he too is also a human-hating machine. The puzzles are still dumb adventure game logic so just execute caution.

I'm going off of memory here, but as I recall AM had nearly unlimited intelligence but was trapped as a result of his physical existence. Humanity did not have those restrictions but was also much less intellectually capable. This infuriated AM because we had what he could not and did not (from it's perspective) understand how good we had it.
