If you understand and know what 60fps looks like, versus things below it, higher frame rates simply look smoother and smoother. Usually with less of a ghosting or blur-like effect. This is not the same with many newer TVs claiming 120hz/240hz, where they use frame interpolation to try and double the in-between frames. It can make things below 60fps look smoother or "faster", but its ultimately still shit because of input lag and response times on a majority of LCD TVs.
Either way, none of this really matters in the case of a PS4 or PS5 (or even the new XBAWX). Still can't even hit a stable 1080/60 unless its an incredibly simple and optimized game. Throwing more hardware at the problem only encourages AAA devs to be wasteful and lazy. Its also pretty much impossible to explain to normalfags and casuals that they're being sold on unattainable hype and memes.

I'm not nearly as optimistic about their failure. It's important to remember that Europoors eat any Sony product up, regardless of if it has games or not. As long as it has GTA 6 (which it will) and some FIFAs (which it will), that's 30 million sales right there and even if it sold nothing in the US or Japan, they would at least survive the generation.
Nintendo's never been successful there, which you can see by comparing Media Creates charts to UK top 40 charts - Nintendo's new releases pretty much never get the top position in the UK.
Two things must happen for Sony to lose the European market this gen - the PS5 needs to be overpriced to shit and the Scarlett (or the Lockhart, the cheap model) needs to be very affordable by comparison.

The PS3 wasn't popular in Europe, that's why I said what I did. The 360 did okay by comparison. As for why, it's a historic thing. In a lot of the slavic block, Nintendo never had any official presense, instead having chink famiclones like the Dendy and Ziliton. In the UK, they instead had the Spectrum, C64 and other home computers, where games would cost 99p to a few pounds, versus cartridge games costing 40 pounds. I can't speak for Germany/France/Italy, but I assume they had a similar situation to the UK, since a good number of C64 games are from there.
Sega had an official presence, even in the Soviet block, but they were far more expensive to UKfags than home computer games, so it wasn't nearly as popular.
When the PS1 came out, it was the only console in the soviet block. There was no Saturn, nor was there an N64. Not sure how the case was in the UK, I'm sure they had both of the consoles, but they were most likely not nearly as popular as the Playstation.
Then, of course, the PS2 blew its competition out massively. I think, to a lot of people in those countries, the 360 and Wii were the only successes Microsoft and Nintendo had (for home consoles, I have seen a lot of GBAs around). Sony, on the other hand, has now had three successes on their hands.

The first four images, especially the second and third one have the same problem that the Atelier pic has, in that the anatomy becomes shaky, and become too spindly and small for the rest of the frame, but I'm not bothered by that all all unlike the Atelier one. Why? Because the first three are petite enough that it isn't the jarring or noticable until I intentionally looked at the feet when I was looking for image with the same problem that started this whole thing. The fourth, while not petite, but because she's standing straight up, you won't be looking near the feet so again it's not likely you'll notice unless you intentionally focus on the feet. The fifth one is a good example of feet that don't look bad without needing to pander to footfags. It isn't the focus of the image, so therefore it has the appropirate level of detail that an unimportant area of a drawing that it should have, but it's still done with skill instead of giving up and doing scribbles.

Of course they both required licenses and royalties from third parties, you dingleberry. Hell, you couldn't even buy cartridges to put your games on without buying them directly from Sega and Nintendo. Hell, Nintendo even went so far as to put a physical chip in their cartridges that verified it's authenticity. Sega just had a patented bit of code which was easily reverse engineered and allowed many third parties (like Accolade) to get away with using more cheaply produced carts.
Sega already knew they were going to have to switch over to an alternate licensing scheme with the Sega CD and Saturn (and also due to the aforementioned cracking of their cartridge security) since there was no way they could physically protect a disk or try to force third parties from buying CDs from them instead of literally anybody else. Nintendo opted to stick with their licensing via cartridges well into the generation with the N64 and tried to claim it's limitations and expense were an acceptable trade-off for "better loading times". When in reality, Nintendo just wanted to keep making their bank selling cartridges.
Sony, for their part, never really wanted to get into the gaming business initially outside of their ImageSoft division. They were a consumer electronics company, and had been contracted by Nintendo to make a CD based system to compete with the SegaCD. Sony fronted most of the money for development, expecting to get compensated on unit sales and a full-scale manufacturing contract. Then Nintendo announced their partnership with Philips at literally the same CES that Sony was set to unveil the Playstation addon for the SNES. So since they already had the money invested into developing it, they went back and redesigned it as a stand-alone next generation system.
What Sony really brought to the table the changed the game industry, is their significant investments/holdings into movies, television, and music - allowing for greater leverage in allowing the licensing of Sony properties to third parties, and much increased focus on promoting software meant for a larger casual audience rather than strictly making games for game players. They treated their Playstation like any other consumer electronics device, like the Diskman - for instance -, which is part of why they resisted adopting a mascot for so long. They didn't want their product's image to appeal to only a certain type of traditional game player - but to make a generalized device for everybody.

I don't even like them. I gave one of the Senran Kagura games a while back and couldn't stand how awful the game actually felt to play. It's clear they only care about the girls and that it just ain't for me, but it's the principle that's important.
