>gameplay / end game wise TESO sucks?
shit launch to the point you couldn't even properly quest together, run-of-the-mill themepark which meant you outlevel content constantly if you wanna do story in order, slapping on veteran ranks after zos noticed shortly before release cyrodiil sucks as endgame (the irony is VR burned people out even harder), but then still only had cyrodiil as endgame for weeks/months etc.
it improved leagues with TU, but that took over a 12-18 months and first impressions are hard to shake
>The business model is shit
probably the fairest in the business. yeah, they have lootbox shit but that's cosmetic only and you get plenty of free shit on the side instead of constantly getting pushed to the store (like gw2), gear cap means you only need the dlc for the story etc and possible slight improvement (last time I checked BIS still came from mostly from vanilla stuff), everything besides the last chapter is in the sub so you could drop down 15 bucks, play through it in a month and still keep the unlocks (like skill-lines etc).

>obtuse agro system that leaves a great deal of the gameplay being everyone self-sustaining.
nothing obtuse about it. tanks don't have aoe-taunts (and iirc taunts are temporary only), heals aren't directed which means everybody has to pull it's weight and stick together instead of simply mashing rotations and watching green bars. I agree the combat can feel somewhat janky (especially solo) but a good group that clicks is fucking great.
>There's a pretty noticable lack of buff/debuff mechanics in group content too which contributes to it feeling quite shallow.
due to it being more "action" combat, watching debuffs for cleanses etc. wouldn't really work in eso. the triggers become more important when stuff can oneshot you so you constantly watch what the boss is doing instead looking at a buff bar, or it's implemented into the boss fight itself like DCII
>it's a single-player game that has grouping.
cause if you wanna sell a game to enough people it needs to be able to be played solo to some extend, especially shit as expensive as an mmorpg that needs a big playerbase. there's nothing wrong with singleplayer content, all depends how it's implemented.
