It's like someone read previous thread about this steaming pile of shit and all the bad things we pointed out and decided to do a remake of the same fucking gameplay. You can see it at the end of the video - they wanted to climb that wall, but gave up and used the stairs like normal Masquerade abiding vampires do. They didn't kill Slugg and there were less of his followers around to fight. Too bad they did not work on subtitles because they don't show half the stuff that chick is saying. I can't even bother to point out the rest of old (and new) mistakes.

Just finished VTMB for the first time, I don't see any reason to bother playing this. The first game's strengths were its writing and aesthetic, which are mediocre at best here. But the gameplay improvements seem marginal at best, this is just going to be a really shitty Dishonored but with more dialogue.

IN CONCLUSION
I know it's prealpha gameplay, but it's garbage so far. The only thing I expected them to do better was the combat, but even that looks floaty and boring. Throwing people around in hand to hand in the first game was janky but it made you feel powerful. In this game you punch someone several times in the face and they shrug it off. Also looks like there are cinematic combos in the game which is garbage. The bat spell he was using felt really shitty. Where are the screams as people get picked apart by bats? It didn't even seem like he targeting most of the people he killed, like it was just a fire and forget ability. This game so far appears garbage and is looking to be Watchdogs/Assassin's Creed/Dishonored in a different skin rather just taking the original game and improving what made it great.

The combat was pretty bad, he's not wrong. It's probably the worst aspect of the game, honestly. There's a reason why everybody who has played VtM:B will tell you to go social for literally the entire game except once you reach endgame, when you're told to dump all your remaining points into a combat stat. Granted, the endgame is just one big awful combat gauntlet, but everybody acknowledges the endgame is absolute dogshit.

In the newest edition (the shit one this is based on) thinbloods got access to one discipline at increased cost (you can actually pick from three "merits", but two of the options are "you can pass for human, even to medical tests, and can eat/drink/sex" and "you're only weakened in sunlight, not instantly dead" which are effectively mandatory). That at least is rational.

I just watched a few minutes because I've otherwise been ignoring this game thus far. The animations look beyond fucked. Like they try to do the 'look down and see your feet' thing but then whenever you fall you just look down and see your feet walking on air. The blood-sucking animations never work, your victims' character models are just ragdolling from the moment you grab them. Visual effects are overabundant and confusing. NPCs don't seem tor react to anything vampire-related you do. Loading zones have no kind of transition–no doors–you just walk past a point in the map, get a really long loading screen, and then appear in a visually dissimilar location with no sense of space.
They will fix none of this by launch.

Looks to me they intended to show him using Obfuscate (invisibility) to run the fuck away, which thanks to its true nature as a mental trick rather than actual invisibility sometimes looks that way. Add to that that even the greenest Nossies are masters of stealth and trapmaking and always have sercte exits and such prepared beforehand. The problem is that they fucked up the execution. Had he had more of a head start and had the devs put some subtle environmental clues, it would've looked a lot better.

That set the tone for how vampire politics work and had you by necessity claw your way up. Thin-bloods could create new disciplines even in old VtM. They're just not able to reach the same level of power in actually using disciplines that true vampires can (unless they diablerize their way to a lower generation, in which case they lose all the advantages of being a thin-blood).

The original Vtm Tabletop rpg made it so Thin bloods could get disciplines just they couldn't level them up to 5 points like regular vampires could. The blood was essentially too far removed from Caine. To what extent they could was usually 1-2 points. On the flipside the player didn't have the same weaknesses like you didn't feel the Beast as much and you could walk around in sunlight. There were logical reasons to play one in the tabletop since you could do things for the party that other players normally couldn't. I have no idea why you'd want to in a vidya.

Opening move from the Gangrel would be a tornado of aggravated damage coming out of stealth. Fight would probably end right there. and if it doesn't then Protean let's them turn into mist and obfuscate let's them disappear so they can and do hit-and-runs to wear them down. Aggravated damage are hardest to heal and defend from so even in a prolonged fight they have a potent edge.
Even without the cheese, the claws and celerity alone make them top-tier melee fighters.

City Gangrel (and clan Assamite) are fucking traps designed for players who think VTM is about combat. Regular Gangrel beats them every time, hands down.
Heres how a Gangrel vs City Gangrel showdown goes.
Step 1: Gangrel use's animal scouts to find out where the city Gangrel sleeps during the day, while laying low to avoid ambush.
Step 2: Gangrel proceeds to burn the city gangrel's fucking haven down at sunrise when he falls asleep. Fortitude protects the gangrel from the fire he spreads, and from rays of sunlight as the sun starts to creep over the horizon. Alternatively, if the City Gangrel uses Protean 3 to sink into the fucking ground, the regular Gangrel can leave a timed explosive set to "Excavate" him once the sun is up. If the bomb doesn't kill the City Gangrel, the Sun will.
Step 3: Gangrel uses Protean 3 to sink into the ground once fire/bomb is set. No need to try to find a haven as the sun is coming up, risking further damage.
Get mad combat fags. VTM isn't about how many dice you can throw in a fight. Its about outsmarting your opponents. Thats why the best combat disciplines are Auspex, Animalism, and Thaumaturgy. And in those rare instances where you DO need to do a straight up fight, social characters STILL do better, because they can bring fucking friends. 4 hotheaded brujah neonate anarchs manipulated into a fight against a city Gangrel by a smarther Gangrel socialite? My money is on the Gangrel socialite.

I think it's operating on the new pozzed lore, where thinbloods are donut steal special faggots that aren't killed on sight for being an embarrassment to all vampires or used as cheap cannon fodder.
Still, it's beyond retarded to make the protagonist one of the weakest and most marginalized kinds of vampire around, and then have them take central place in very significant events. At least with Bloodlines 1 you were a vampire of an unspecified generation (and definitely not a thinblood), which gave the writers a certain degree of leeway in explaining how you could do all the shit you did.
Hell, there's not even a gameplay reason to make the protagonist a thinblood other than the developers being lazy shits that can't be bothered to make unique content for each Clan - mostly because they know their audience only cares about the homosex and won't replay the game after finishing it once.

It'd actually be a cool concept if done right, like if you were starving and were attacked by some low rank vampire, barely above you, and you drain him dry on instinct, accidentally diablerizing him, and consequently getting yourself marked, and then having a hunt called on you, where you're constantly forced to diablizerize more and more vampires, slowly travelling down the chain of generations, with side quests or important activities to hold onto your soul/consciousness, before another vampire robs you of your body, with a multiple choice ending, detailing whether or not you did all the required prerequisites to hold onto your self/soul, or lost it to a stronger vampire you ate, or accidentally merged with him, or several of the vampires you've devoured over time. "Can" being the operative word. Some get minor enhanced physical strength and speed, some get a little taste of some of the more obscure powers of their clan. Technically Camarilla hunted thinbloods on sight as they were both considered a sign of the end of times (for the nodists) and a walking mascarade violation (especially since some of them could walk in daylight or even have kids).
Sabbat also considered them a sign of the end time, but produce the most of them through shovelhead-ism (mass embrace for fights). Now in theory the best shovelheads in sabbat could be rewarded by diablerizing a captured enemy (or in fights) allowing them to break free of their thin bloodism and becoming a full fledged vampire (as you get gen-1 for drinking vampire blood at least gen-2 from you).
But we're talking about when vampire was cool (which VTM bloodlines was drawing upon), aka early 90's vampire, 3 or 4 edition before current year vampire… and 3 or 4 edition before it turned to shit.
So basically for a thinblood to gain power you have to be a Sabbat char (and a snowflake already) or the most snowflaky snowflake char ever written.
It's the reason why the thinbloods are terrified of you in VTM:B and one of the coolest interaction in the game.
For everyone else you're a gofer (because you are), humans is just cattle you shouldn't care but neither do they.
Meanwhile the thinbloods know what you are.. and are properly terrified because their interaction with vampires is usually to be chased off (by nightmares, enforcers of a local superstitious baron, sabbath monsters, sheriff of a prince conducting a purge because there is too many) as they're seen a bad luck in a territory or outright killed in the worst case scenario.
While at the same time they barely have clue what the rules are.
All the thinblood quests in VTM:B are great as they all come with a plethora of decently written moral choices.
Are you fine with one of the more human specimen being used as a bloodbag (as humans are)? Should a guy that is breaking the mascarade but is just trying to make meets end of his terrible situation be killed?
Etc…
So yeah if you had to retcon something it shouldn't be that.
