What's even better is Breath of the Wild's engine wasn't made for the Switch, and it was ported by an external development studio to the Switch, there have even been multiple optimizations for the engine since launch, and the game itself didn't scale like others for the platform, so even though Breath of the Wild wasn't built around the Switch's hardware it outdoes Pokemon by a significant margin still. Meaning that finding and catching a legendary has zero impact because you just did what the game told you and it spit out a reward. Even worse, it outright blocks your progression. S'cool man. I'm not sure I believe in souls, but that's because I'm a literally by the numbers type of guy. As a human, I know I'm flawed. On the genetic level all organic life longs for death. I mean aside from lobsters I guess, if you want to be technical. The problem with new pokemon is that they ARE theme park rides where older games didn't have the queues to ride the roller coaster. Sun/Moon will wrestle control from you for 10+ minutes at a time every single town. Sun/Moon aren't roller coasters, they're waiting in line for the roller coaster. It's like they don't want to make a pokemon game but it prints too much money.

You can go back and play the older games and still have a good time. The story doesn't cock block you too much. You can't do that any more. It's like the entire games a tutorial with a story and nothing more. The original few games were all about discovery, finding new things out. Not whatever the fuck it is now. Bad anime story with random jrpg and mobile mini games maybe?
